Cheng Yi’s latest drama is entitled Go To The Mountains And Sea (赴山海). It has been tentatively scheduled for broadcast in Q2 2025 with some putting it as early as late April 2025. How accurate is the rumored release date remains to be seen.
Go To The Mountains And Sea is another costume drama and adapted from a novel, Shen Zhou Qi Xia (神州奇侠) which was authored by Wen Rui An. Cheng Yi plays Xiao Ming Ming who is and editor and into martial arts novels. He ends up being transported to the martial arts world in which he becomes Xiao Qiu Shui who has poor martial arts skills. The story details his journey to become a protector of his country with sectarian conflicts and power struggles in between.
Cheng Yi has always been known to be a great actor and his past dramas such as Mysterious Lotus Casebook and Immortal Samsara were highly popular. We will be able to see his acting skills again in his upcoming drama as he will be playing 3 different roles in the story. It will be interesting to see how he handles the different characters that he has to play.
Cheng Yi’s Next Drama Co-Star
Playing opposite Cheng Yi in Go To The Mountains And Sea is Gülnezer Bextiyar or more popularly known as Guli Nazha. I have last watched her in Snow Eagle Lord. She plays Ling Xue in this next drama of hers. Ling Xue is the daughter of a martial arts leader and has to protect her sect while falling for Cheng Yi’s character.
Other cast members include Eleanor Lee, Xu Zhen Xuan, Liu Meng Rui, and Ding Xiao Ying. Chen Yu Qi also has a guest starring role in the drama.
Apparently, the team that worked on Go To The Mountains And Sea is the same one that produced Mysterious Lotus Casebook. They share the same director, costume designer as well as screenwriter.
