Episode 1 – 6 : Introduction
Jin Mi
Jin Mi is the daughter of the Flower Goddess, Zi Fen, who died after giving birth to her. Zi Fen’s bitter love experience convinced her that Jin Mi must not suffer the same fate when she undergoes her love trial. So, she ordered for Jin Mi to be brought up as a carefree sprite without letting her know her true identity before her death. She also fed her a pill that makes Jin Mi unable to feel romantic love.
At the same time, the Water Immortal was decreed by the Heavenly Emperor to marry the Wind Immortal. However, the Water Immortal’s true love was Zi Fen. During the wedding, the Heavenly Emperor announced that should the newly married couple have a daughter, she shall be married to his eldest son in the future.
Chief Peony is the leader of the Floral Realm following Zi Fen’s death. She is strict towards Jin Mi and disallows her to leave the Floral Realm which has been sealed off from the outside world. The Floral Realm is still bitter about the death of their Goddess and has chosen to isolate themselves from the rest of the realms. Jin Mi has grown up to be a beautiful but naive and innocent sprite. She is also friendly and bubbly. One of her friends is Lord Pu Chi who once saved her from Qiong Qi’s attack. Qiong Qi is a legendary beast from the Demon Realm.
Heavenly Realm
Xu Feng is the second son of the Heavenly Emperor and Empress. He is the powerful Fire Immortal and a phoenix. The Empress is ambitious and constantly pushes to have him appointed as the Crown Prince. But Xu Feng is in no hurry. He shares a warm relationship with his elder brother, Run Yu, who is the son of a concubine and the Night Immortal. While Xu Feng is undergoing the last night of his Phoenix Nirvana rebirth, an attack by his enemy causes him to fall through to the Floral Realm. He is saved by Jin Mi.
As Jin Mi wants to revive her friend, Rou Rou, who is now a plant after Qiong Qi’s attack, she follows Xu Feng back to the Heavenly Realm. While there, she meets Run Yu and Dan Zhu who is the Moon Immortal and uncle to Xu Feng and Run Yu. Dan Zhu is a jovial and youthful-looking immortal and thinks Jin Mi is a good match for Xu Feng who never shows any affections towards the opposite sex. However, Sui He loves Xu Feng. Sui He is a princess of the Bird Tribe and the Heavenly Empress is her aunt.
The Ignorant Jin Mi
During Jin Mi’s stay at the Heavenly Realm, Xu Feng begins to develop feelings for her. But Jin Mi is ignorant of love and romance and sees Xu Feng as bossy. Run Yu also has interest in Jin Mi. At the same time, Chief Peony sends Lao Hu to look for Jin Mi who has been missing from the Floral Realm. She thinks the Bird Tribe may have kidnapped Jin Mi and picks a fight with them. Enemies are also investigating Jin Mi for their own evil plans. Sui He is angry that Chief Peony has wrongly accused her tribe. She is also annoyed when she finds out that the sprite everybody is looking for is actually Jin Mi who is ignorant of her own importance and status.
Qiong Qi is sent to the Heavenly Realm to attack Jin Mi. Run Yu and Xu Feng fight him off. The Emperor orders Xu Feng to investigate the re-emergence of Qiong Qi which is supposed to have been contained years ago. Jin Mi is reluctant to follow Lao Hu back to the Floral Realm. She follows Xu Feng to the Demon Realm for his investigation instead. They are joined by Run Yu.
Episode 7 – 8 : Containing Qiong Qi
Xu Feng and Run Yu not only want to defeat Qiong Qi but also to find out the person who had let him out of his seal. They are assisted by Liu Ying who is a demon princess. Her father is King Bian Cheng who has a good relationship with the Heavenly Realm and prefers peace over war. However, they can’t kill Qiong Qi as his blood is highly toxic. Xu Feng and Run Yu need a sacred dagger from King Yan Cheng who is the Demon Realm Ruler to contain Qiong Qi and re-seal him.
King Gu Cheng tries to sow mistrust between King Yan Cheng and the Heavenly Realm. He suggests that King Yan Cheng’s 2 useless princes be tasked with carrying the sacred dagger. In the end, Qiong Qi is successfully contained but King Yan Cheng’s 2 sons are severely injured. Through King Bian Cheng’s investigations, King Yan Cheng knows that King Gu Cheng is involved in letting out Qiong Qi. But King Gu Cheng tries to convince King Yan Cheng that they should not let the Heavenly Realm keep dictating to them. As long as Xu Feng is taken out, the Heavenly Realm will be weak. King Gu Cheng’s ultimate aim is to usurp the throne and be the ruler for all the 6 realms.
The Confession
Xu Feng’s feelings for Jin Mi is getting stronger. But Jin Mi is still naive and ignorant and will touch or hug Xu Feng without hesitation. Xu feng saves Jin Mi during the fight with Qiong Qi. He does it again when Qiong Qi escapes from the seal by controlling Jin Mi’s mind. While Xu Feng manages to seal Qiong Qi up again, he is seriously injured by the latter’s poisoned needles. The only cure would be a sacred rattan plant that is only available from the Floral Realm.
Chief Peony refuses to give Jin Mi and Liu Ying the plant to save Xu Feng. She has Jin Mi grounded and Liu Ying forced out of Floral Realm. In desperation, Jin Mi uses her cultivation to try to create the rattan plant. She manages to do so after trying the whole night. The secret is the blood from her pricked finger enables the plant to be successfully cultivated.
Xu Feng is saved and awakens. He holds Jin Mi’s hand and his gesture is seen by Run Yu, Liu Ying, and Chief Peony. Xu Feng asks Chief Peony not to blame Jin Mi as he is the one who took her away from Floral Realm and caused the misunderstanding. He confesses that he has feelings for Jin Mi.
Episode 9 – 11 : Escaping From Floral Realm
Chief Peony forbids Xu Feng from meeting Jin Mi. The Heavenly Empress wants Sui He to investigate how Xu Feng got injured while in the Demon Realm. She always suspects Run Yu is up to no good. Sui He tries to recruit Run Yu’s subordinate, Kuang Lu, to spy for the Empress. But Kuang Lu remains loyal to Run Yu. Xu Feng tries to meet Jin Mi again but is stopped by Chief Peony. She gives him the clue that Jin Mi is not a lowly sprite that everyone thinks she is and Jin Mi is someone he absolutely cannot have. Xu Feng recalls that his father used to love the Flower Goddess and hence, his relationship with Jin Mi would be a forbidden love.
When Sui He reports that Jin Mi is involved in Xu Feng’s injuries, the Empress is curious about Jin Mi. She goes to the Floral Realm to look for her. But Run Yu has helped Jin Mi to escape and hides her in his palace. Chief Peony goes to the Heavenly Realm to look for Jin Mi and accuses Xu Feng of taking her away. Xu Feng denies it and promises to look for Jin Mi. In the meantime, Run Yu has settled Jin Mi in the Mortal Realm to help her escape from being hauled back to the Floral Realm by Chief Peony. Run Yu is also interested in Jin Mi and goes out of his way to make her happy.
Past History
The Heavenly Emperor and King Gu Cheng colluded during the war between the immortals and demons ages ago. The latter helped him to become the Emperor. But he broke his promise and abandoned King Gu Cheng instead. Now, he is still as unreliable when he fails to attack King Yan Cheng as agreed when Qiong Qi was purposely set free as an excuse. With Qiong Qi in the Heavenly Emperor’s hands, the Demon Realm has lost a bargaining chip. The Emperor is not ready to kill Qiong Qi as he wants to make use of him in the future. He is just as ambitious as King Gu Cheng. Both of them are planning to rule over all the 6 realms.
The Heavenly Empress doesn’t have a good word about the Flower Goddess although the latter had died long ago. She sees her as an enemy who tried to bewitch the Emperor. With the Empress’ birthday just around the corner, the Emperor personally invites the Water Immortal, Luo Lin, and his wife, Lin Xiu, to attend the birthday banquet. Both of them have a history with Zi Fen.
Jin Mi In The Mortal Realm
While in the Mortal Realm, Run Yu gives her a new identity – Ling Guang. She dresses as a man and uses her Suppressing Hairpin to fool everyone about her gender. She also bumps into Pu Chi who introduces her to all the fun and not so innocent activities of the mortals. Xu Feng manages to track her down and together with Run Yu punishes Pu Chi for corrupting Jin Mi.
Xu Feng also learns from Pu Chi about Jin Mi’s tragic experience concerning Rou Rou. He also tells Run Yu that Jin Mi is someone they cannot have. In his drunken state, Xu Feng tries to kiss Jin Mi after a drinking session but manages to pull back at the last minute. He knows his feelings for her are forbidden. But Jin Mi is still clueless about his feelings.
Xu Feng and Run Yu discuss about Pu Chi. They find him suspicious because he is hiding his true powers from them. Jin Mi reverts to being a female when she chooses to wear the phoenix feather hairpin that Xu Feng left her for protection. When Run Yu comments on it, she gives him a grapevine hairpin as a friendly gesture.
Episode 12 – 13 : Jin Mi’s True Identity
Jin Mi is bored as both Xu Feng and Run Yu are attending the Heavenly Empress’ birthday banquet. She summons Pu Chi for company. But Pu Chi brings her to the banquet instead. Together with the Rat Immortal, they create a disturbance during the banquet and expose Jin Mi’s identity. The Emperor and Water Immortal are stunned that Jin Mi looks like Zi Fen. The Empress is not happy. Jin Mi’s naivete makes things worse. Both Xu Feng and Run Yu try to protect Jin Mi which further anger the Empress.
Pu Chi flies Jin Mi out of the banquet. Xu Feng and Run Yu give chase to ensure her safety from pursuing immortals taking orders from the Empress. Chief Peony appears to take back Jin Mi. Xu Feng promises Chief Peony that he will not meet Jin Mi again and tells Run Yu that the 3 of them are half-siblings. The Empress orders Qi Yuan to investigate what happened at her birthday banquet and the background of Pu Chi and the Rat Immortal.
Jin Mi’s Father
The chiefs of the Floral Realm decide to let Xu Feng assume that they share the same father. The Emperor also meet Jin Mi in her dream and assumes that she is his daughter. He transfers some powers to her and informs her that she is the daughter of the Flower Goddess but she still finds it hard to believe. The Water Immortal is uneasy after seeing Jin Mi at the banquet. His wife encourages him to go and look for her at the Floral Realm. He arrives just in time to save her from being killed by the Empress due to her resemblance to Zi Fen.
Jin Mi’s ability to summon water and her body’s negative reaction to the fire power transferred by the Emperor gives the Water Immortal the confirmation that she is his daughter. The Water Immortal and Zi Fen used to be lovers. This confirmation is overheard by Run Yu.
Episode 14 – 16 : Run Yu’s Luck
The Water Immortal is told the whole story behind Zi Fen’s death. Zi Fen once fell in love with Tai Wei, the current Heavenly Emperor. Due to his personal ambition then, he married Tu Yao, the current Empress who is the leader of the Bird Tribe. Zi Fen was heartbroken but subsequently gave up on Tai Wei and fell in love with the Water Immortal. Tai Wei was jealous and raped her. She wanted to commit suicide but Tai Wei stopped her. To make Zi Fen give up on the Water Immortal, Tai Wei arranged for the Water and Wind immortals to wed. However, the Water Immortal was not agreeable.
Tu Yao hated Zi Fen as she was Tai Wei’s true love and he had wanted to make her his concubine. She forced her to jump to her death at Lin Yuan Terrace. Zi Fen’s body and organs were destroyed and she faced imminent death. Hence, she acted cold towards the Water Immortal and asked him to marry Lin Xiu instead. She claimed that she only loved Tai Wei. So, the Water Immortal ended up marrying the Wind Immortal. Zi Fen died on the day of his wedding. The time of Jin Mi’s birth was purposely altered to hide her true identity. Zi Fen was already pregnant with the Water Immortal’s child before being raped by Tai Wei.
Introducing Jin Mi As His Daughter
The Water Immortal is happy to reunite with his daughter. Run Yu overhears all the conversations and is secretly gleeful because his marriage had long been agreed upon. His betrothal is the Water Immortal’s daughter which now happens to be Jin Mi. He uses the knowledge to try to maneuver himself into the good books of the Water Immortal and makes Jin Mi his wife. However, Jin Mi’s feelings are still being suppressed by the pill her mother had implanted in her to protect her against an upcoming love trial.
The Water Immortal introduces Jin Mi as his daughter back in the Heavenly Realm. Everyone is stunned. The Emperor expresses regret to the Water Immortal over his past mistake. He still loves Zi Fen and wants to treat her daughter well. The Water Immortal is angry with what the Emperor and Empress have done to Zi Fen. But he tries to forget the past to keep the peace for Jin Mi’s sake. In fact, he prefers Jin Mi to have nothing to do with the Heavenly Realm people if not because she is agreeable to marry Run Yu.
Due to the suppressant, Jin Mi is ignorant of what love is. As she likes Run Yu as a friend, she doesn’t raise any objections to the marriage agreement. Similarly, Jin Mi also sees Xu Feng as a friend although he is heartbroken that she now belongs to his half-brother. Both Run Yu and Xu Feng are reluctant to give up Jin Mi to the other.
The Empress’ Suspicions
The Empress wants Xu Feng to marry Sui He to strengthen his position against Run Yu. Now that Run Yu’s future wife is Jin Mi, it means he will have the backing of the Water Immortal and Floral Realm. The Empress sees this as a threat. However, Xu Feng is unwilling to go along with his mother’s power plays and turns down a marriage plan with Sui He.
The Rat Immortal is trying to get the Water Immortal onto his master’s side but the latter declines. His master is the Lord of Dong Ting Lake while the Water Immortal doesn’t have any interest to involve himself in power struggles.. The Rat Immortal is subsequently caught by Xu Feng for being the person who tried to kill him during his Phoenix Nirvana rebirth. The Rat Immortal and Pu Chi are partners. He is caught when he helps Pu Chi to escape. During the hearing, the Empress tries to tie him to Run Yu and the Water Immortal as accomplices. But the Rat Immortal claims that he is working alone. He also accuses the Empress of abusing her powers to strengthen the Bird Tribe.
Episode 17 – 19 : Rat Immortal Dies
The Rat Immortal exposes the Empress’ sins including the killing of fairies and immortals that were against her. He doesn’t want her to foul up the Heavenly Realm and hence, has been working against her. But when the Rat Immoral brings up Su Li, the Emperor quickly puts an end to the hearing and kills him. Run Yu is curious about Su Li but neither he nor Xu Feng knows who she is. The Emperor wants to bring forward the wedding of Run Yu and Jin Mi. But the Water Immortal seems reluctant. Run Yu suggests that there is no hurry to pre-empt the Water Immortal from cancelling the engagement totally.
Run Yu tries to discourage Xu Feng from pursuing Jin Mi by bringing up the Water Immortal’s disdain for the Emperor and Empress. He warns Xu Feng that his love for Jin Mi is hopeless as the Empress would never agree due to past history. Xu Feng tries to ask his mother but receives no answer. He then orders his subordinate to investigate what happened to Zi Fen and the identity of Su Li.
Pu Chi is sad that the Rat Immortal has died. The Rat Immortal has willingly taken the blame when Pu Chi was the one who tried to attack Xu Feng during the latter’s Phoenix Nirvana rebirth. The Water Immortal is also unhappy over the execution of the Rat Immortal as there is an element of injustice. But the Emperor warns the Water Immortal not to disappoint him and abuse the trust between them. He is afraid the Water Immortal may have been in cahoots with the Rat Immortal.
Luo Lin, Zi Fen, And Lin Xiu
Lin Xiu treats Jin Mi like her own daughter. She and Zi Fen are like sisters. Together with Luo Lin, they share the same teacher. Luo Lin was taught to summon water. Zi Fen’s speciality was summoning flowers while Lin Xiu can summon the wind. Luo Lin begged their teacher to save Zi Fen when he stumbled upon her as a kid. The 3 of them grew up together. The innocent Zi Fen fell in love with Tai Wei who wooed her with his charms back then.
Luo Lin brings Jin Mi to meet his teacher. He seeks her help to remove the seal from Jin Mi which has been suppressing her magical prowess. While she does so, she also warns that Jin Mi is facing death ahead of her. She also helps Jin Mi about Rou Rou. Jin Mi is told that she will meet Rou Rou again but also part ways.
Applying To Be An Immortal
Run Yu is able to convince the Water Immortal of his sincerity towards Jin Mi. But Xu Feng can still feel that Jin Mi cares for him. With her seal lifted, Jin Mi is able to exercise her powers better. Her father proposes that she is made an immortal but is stopped by rules and traditions. Jin Mi has to undergo a mortal trial first which will be arranged by Immortal Yuan Ji. The Empress pressures Immortal Yuan Ji to give Jin Mi the harshest trial available while Xu Feng wants her to spare Jin Mi and prevents her from marrying.
The Empress has plans to kill Jin Mi in the Mortal Realm. When Xu Feng hears about it, he asks Dan Zhu to tie his fate with Jin Mi’s and jumps in after her. Sui He follows suit. In the end, Jin Mi is sent to a female holy healer tribe as a physician who is responsible for the King’s health. Her best friend there is Qiang Huo who is Rou Rou in her past life. Xu Feng ends up as King Yi. An ambush against King Yi occurs and he is severely injured while out hunting.
Episode 20 – 25 : Meeting In The Mortal Realm
Jin Mi chances upon King Yi while out foraging for herbs. An attacker sent by the Demon Ruler fails to kill King Yi. He is blocked by Jin Mi when he swings his sword down. However, Jin Mi is protected by the pill implanted by her mother although it is starting to crack from the blow. The attacker disappears when he learns that Jin Mi is no ordinary mortal.
The demons can sense that the Immortality Destruction Tribe is not yet extinct. The people from this tribe can call out the Anger of Nether. King Gu Cheng tries to sow further discord between King Yan Cheng and Xu Feng. He proposes that they kill him with the Immortality Destructing Arrow which will reduce his body and soul to ashes. This arrow is from the Immortality Destruction Tribe. At the same time, the Heavenly Empress wants Qi Yuan to come up with the arrow to kill Jin Mi.
Who Is Qi Yuan?
Qi Yuan’s previous identity is Mu Ci. King Bian Cheng took him in and raised him when Liu Ying injured him while out hunting. Mu Ci and Liu Ying became lovers when they grew up. But when Mu Ci was able to withstand the Anger of Nether, King Yan Cheng and King Gu Cheng captured and sealed him up. King Gu Cheng was delegated the responsibility to handle Mu Ci who was made to suffer. Mu Ci is from the Immortality Destruction Tribe. The tribe had shown signs of betrayal to the Demon Realm and hence, all the members were killed. Mu Ci is the last surviving member of this tribe who can craft the Immortality Destructing Arrow from his blood and bones.
After crafting the arrow for the Empress, Mu Ci is ordered to kill Jin Mi with it. King Gu Cheng is also looking for remnants of the Immortality Destruction Tribe and the arrow to kill Xu Feng. Liu Ying finds out about King Gu Cheng’s plan and makes her way to the Mortal Realm. She is saved by Mu Ci while battling King Gu Cheng’s attackers. Liu Ying knows he is Mu Ci who has been missing ever since the Anger of Nether incident. She forces him out to admit his identity. But Mu Ci is unwilling to accept her back. He tells her that Mu Ci is dead.
Jin Mi and King Yi
Jin Mi saves King Yi and nurses him back to health in the mountains. She assumes he is a bandit while he plays deaf and mute to avoid questioning since he is unsure of her intentions. But after spending a month with each other, King Yi is slowly falling for Jin Mi. Her heart also starts to feel weird at times when they are together. When Run Yu finds out that Xu Feng is in the Mortal Realm with Jin Mi, he is angry. He also quietly visits Jin Mi in the Mortal Realm as he is afraid that she will forget him. In one of the visits, he foils Mu Ci’s attempt on her life. Pu Chi is also in the Mortal Realm to try to kill Xu Feng on the orders of the Lord of Dong Ting Lake.
Princess Sui He is King Yi’s cousin and is madly in love with him. She is also Lord Nan Ping’s daughter. Lord Nan Ping is planning to overthrow King Yi. After a month in the mountains, King Yi returns to the palace. He still pretends to be sick. Jin Mi is summoned to the palace to treat him and is shocked when she learns the bandit she treated is actually King Yi. Her heart begins to beat very fast when he comes near her.
Lord Nan Ping tries to intimidate Jin Mi into cooperating with him. King Yi is aware of what is going on and asks Jin Mi to give him a dire health pronouncement to fool Lord Nan Ping into lowering his guard. Lord Nan Ping then orders Jin Mi to poison King Yi and have him dead within 10 days or he will kill all the members of her healer tribe.
Episode 26 – 28 : Neutralizing Lord Nan Ping
King Yi continues to woo Jin Mi but she says no although her heart is beginning to waver. Mu Ci is trying to kill Jin Mi again by shooting the arrow from a rooftop. But Run Yu appears and blocks his view. Then King Yi also shows up and Mu Ci has to abandon his plans. Both Run Yu and King Yi are antagonistic towards each other. Back at the Heavenly Realm, Run Yu tries to look for information about the Immortality Destructing Arrow from the library. He chances upon a painting of a woman wearing the Magical Flaming Pearl bracelet painted by his father.
A fight breaks out when the demon attackers try to snatch Mu Ci’s Immortality Destructing Arrow. Liu Ying gets involved. Pu Chi takes the opportunity to trick them with a fake arrow and gets away with the real one. When Mu Ci knows he has been tricked, he backtracks to look for Pu Chi. Liu Ying follows him and grabs off his mask. His identity is confirmed. Although Mu Ci is still cares for Liu Ying, he still leaves her. He tells Liu Ying that her life would be better without him.
After 10 days, the ministers pressure King Yi to abdicate due to his ill health. Jin Mi is summoned. She pronounces that King Yi is in good health. He only suffers from exhaustion and has been poisoned through his food. The chief chef is blamed. He is taking orders from Lord Nan Ping but is afraid to say so. King Yi has arranged to have Jin Mi’s healer tribe saved from Lord Nan Ping’s men. This frees her from worries about speaking the truth.
Pu Chi’s Dilemma
With the Immortality Destructing Arrow, Pu Chi could easily kill King Yi. But he is reluctant to do so because King Yi or Xu Feng is innocent. So, he ties the arrow with his hair above King Yi’s seat. He leaves it to God’s will if the arrow would fall and kill Xu Feng or otherwise. Pu Chi then reports back to the Lord of Dong Ting Lake that he has failed to get back the arrow. She becomes agitated. Pu Chi is getting increasingly worried over her mental state.
Mu Ci also has to report back to the Heavenly Empress that he has lost the arrow and there are people trying to harm Xu Feng. He suspects it is Pu Chi and that Run Yu has also been appearing in the Mortal Realm. The Empress wants Mu Ci to keep an eye on Run Yu and helps Sui He to regain her memory so that she can help him to achieve the mission to kill Jin Mi. She threatens Mu Ci that she will use his blood to craft another Immortality Destructing Arrow should he fails to get back the one that he lost.
King Yi’s subordinate, Qin Tong, helps an old couple on the way home. The old man leaves him with a token of appreciation and promises to help him should the need arises in the future. Sui He is happy to hear that King Yi is in good health and need not abdicate.
Wooing Jin Mi
King Yi refuses to give up and continues to woo Jin Mi. He personally makes her lanterns to beautify the courtyard. However, she still rejects his advances due to her obligation to her tribe rules to stay chaste. King Yi refuses to grant Jin Mi her request to leave the palace to go back to her tribe. He wants her and confesses his feelings but she can’t agree to his request.
Mu Ci helps Sui He to regain her memory and her mission in the Mortal Realm. She is still hard-up to marry King Yi although he isn’t interested. Lord Nan Ping is agreeable to push for the marriage now that his plan to overthrow King Yi has been foiled. It would be beneficial for Sui He to marry King Yi to maintain his power. The Moon Immortal is not happy as he prefers Jin Mi to be Xu Feng’s partner. Pu Chi cooperates with him to play a trick on Sui He which results in the cancellation of her engagement with King Yi.
Episode 29 – 30 : Run Yu’s Background
The Immortality Destructing Arrow is still hanging above King Yi’s seat and has not fallen on him. Lord of Dong Ting Lake is angry that Xu Feng has not been killed. Pu Chi tries to plead with his master that Xu Feng is innocent but she would not listen. Pu Chi is getting worried that she will go mad.
Sui He is miserable and throwing tantrums that her engagement with King Yi has been cancelled because of Pu Chi. Lord Nan Ping is not happy to see his daughter getting hurt over King Yi. He colludes with the state’s enemy to get them to start a war to force King Yi into battle.
Run Yu asks Pu Chi about the Immortality Destructing Arrow and why the Rat Immortal had taken the blame for him. Pu Chi then brings Run Yu to Dong Ting Lake. The place seems familiar but Run Yu is not ready to enter to seek the answers that he wants. Liu Ying is heartbroken that Mu Ci has left her and can’t stop thinking of him.
Run Yu Enters Dong Ting Lake
After thinking it over, Run Yu decides to go to Dong Ting Lake. He asks Kuang Lu to follow him. Kuang Lu is in love with Run Yu and has always been willing to lend an ear to his problems. Mu Ci sees them entering the bottom of the lake. While there, Run Yu begins to have vague recollections of his childhood.
Run Yu asks the Lord of Dong Ting Lake about the woman his father had painted which looked exactly like her. But she denies it is her. The woman in the painting is Su Li who is from the water tribe while Run Yu is a dragon that practices the water spell. Hence, he should be the Emperor and Su Li’s son. However, Su Li refuses to acknowledge Run Yu as her son. She tells him that his mother was dead when Li Lake was burnt down years ago. Run Yu is sad and disappointed that he is unwanted and was abandoned by his mother.
Su Li’s Tragic Tale
After leaving the lake, Run Yu shares with Kuang Lu his vague memories of his childhood while Su Li recounts her story to Pu Chi. Su Li met the Heavenly Emperor on a trip to Heavenly Realm with her father. She is from the Dragonfish Tribe in Tai Lake. The Emperor took a fancy on her because she looks like Zi Fen. He also hid his identity from her. He gave her the Magical Flaming Pearl bracelet which attracted the attention of the Empress.
Their relationship resulted in her pregnancy. This forced her father to break her engagement to the Prince of Qian Lake who complained to the Heavenly Emperor. On hindsight, Su Li feels that it was a well-laid trap. The complaint resulted in the marshland of Tai Lake being confiscated and given to the Bird Tribe to gain favor from the Empress. Tai and Qian Lake began to be hostile towards each other and the water tribes in the region fell apart. The Emperor could then gain control of Tai Lake which also weakened the powers of the Water Immortal.
The Emperor couldn’t care less about Su Li and Run Yu. Su Li had to hide Run Yu from being discovered by the Empress. This caused Run Yu immense sufferings because she had to hide his identity as a water dragon. Su Li had to cut off his horns and scales from his body each time they grow when he was a child. When the Empress was afraid that Zi Fen might take over her position, she killed everyone in Su Li’s tribe including her family and burned down Li Marsh in Tai Lake to strengthen her hand. Su Li was saved by the Water Immortal who set her up at Dong Ting Lake.
Run Yu’s Memory
As Run Yu tells Kuang Lu his childhood pain, he recalls that he was not abandoned by his mother after all. He came up from the bottom of the lake because he didn’t want to go through the sufferings anymore. He was taken in by the Empress who gave him a pill to forget his past.
Due to her desire for revenge, Su Li does not want to acknowledge Run Yu and put him in danger.
Episode 31 – 33 : Jin Mi Falls In Love
Jin Mi dreams of what love is after getting drunk with Qiang Huo who is not agreeable to Jin Mi’s close relationship with King Yi and wants them to quickly return to the tribe. Then Jin Mi is summoned by King Yi who entertains her with a story-telling session. Jin Mi couldn’t stop herself from confessing her feelings and kissing him. She is has been coughing up blood and knows her time may be short. The pill to suppress her feelings cracks further in her heart. She tells King Yi that she loves him. In return, he tells her that he wants to marry her before Qin Tong rushes in with urgent news.
Run Yu’s Anger
Run Yu goes back to see his mother and speaks of his remorse. He hopes that they could be reunited as mother and son one day. Run Yu then goes to see Jin Mi to get from her some ointment for his mother’s scar. When he goes back to Dong Ting Lake with the ointment together with Kuang Lu, the Empress and Mu Ci are having a fight with Su Li and Pu Chi respectively. Run Yu crawls and begs the Empress for mercy to let his mother go. But the Empress wants to kill both of them instead for going against her.
Su Li takes the hit to save Run Yu and reflects it back towards the Empress to slow her down. Su Li dies from the hit. Then the Empress aims her power at Pu Chi and Run Yu. In anger, Run Yu summons his powers to fight back. The Water Immortal appears to stop the battle and save the Empress. He advises Run Yu to calm down and not to destroy anymore lives at the lake. Run Yu is depressed over his mother’s death.
The Emperor questions the Water Immortal over Su Li. Luo Lin admits that he saved Su Li years ago but that he has nothing to do with the Rat Immortal and her revenge plots. He reminds the Emperor to be fair in his handling of the matter.
Liu Ying’s Heartbreak
The Empress wants Mu Ci to quickly find the Immortality Destructing Arrow and kill Jin Mi. She is willing to let him go back to Liu Ying if he fulfills his mission. The Empress is controlling Mu Ci through silkworms implanted in his body. This gives Mu Ci hope and he ends up spending a night with Liu Ying. But he leaves her again when he knows they couldn’t possibly be together since he is under the Empress’ control.
Liu Ying learns that Mu Ci is working for the Empress when she sees him meeting up with Sui He. She overhears their plan to kill Jin Mi. Liu Ying warns Mu Ci that he will be her enemy if he carries the plan to kill her friend.
Sui He is adamant on marrying King Yi. She kills her own father when he launches an ambush against King Yi. But Sui He is still unable to earn King Yi’s love despite her sacrifice. So, she asks Mu Ci to get the enemy state to launch a war and get King Yi away from the palace. This will give them the opportunity to kill Jin Mi.
Killing Jin Mi
Jin Mi’s health is fast deteriorating but she keeps it hidden from King Yi. She has been poisoned by Qiang Huo. It was unintentional as Qiang Huo’s plan was just to stop Jin Mi from being with King Yi and breaking the tribe’s rules. But the unique conditions in Jin Mi’s body reacted to the supposedly harmless poison in a bad way. King Yi asks Jin Mi to wait for him to come back from the war and he will make her his Queen. But Jin Mi knows her time is up soon.
As Jin Mi lies suffering from poor health while King Yi is at war, Mu Ci goes to kill her. He is stopped by Liu Ying. During the fight, Mu Ci throws the arrow at Jin Mi but is blocked by Qiang Huo. With the mission failed, iu Ying chases after Mu Ci into the forest. They argue over the matter and end up as enemies. Mu Ci refuses to tell LIu Ying what makes him work for the Empress.
As Qiang Huo dies in Jin Mi’s arms, both of them are suddenly aware that she is Rou Rou. She tells Jin Mi not to be sad as she will be gone for good this time. A few moments later, Jin Mi also passes away. King Yi returns from a victory at war to a dead Jin Mi. He is heartbroken.
Episode 34 – 36 : Back To The Heavenly Realm
King Yi dresses Jin Mi in wedding clothes. Then he takes her body to the royal tomb and drinks poisoned wine to be with her in death. Jin Mi could see King Yi’s heartache when she reverts to her immortal form. She is touched by his love for her. After King Yi’s death, both of them return to the Heavenly Realm. Jin Mi is allowed to ascend to be an immortal. Xu Feng is grounded as punishment for following Jin Mi to the Mortal Realm. The Emperor also wants the wedding date between Run Yu and Jin Mi to be quickly fixed.
Punishing Run Yu
The Empress manages to convince the Emperor that they should kill everyone under the Dong Ting Lake to wipe out Su Li’s tribe. The Emperor is hesitant but agrees when the Empress offers to do the dirty job. Run Yu pleads to the Emperor to intervene but he declines. The teacher predicted her death but also gave her the ashes of Brahma as protection. Xu Feng goes to see the teacher for some pointers of where Jin Mi might be. She tells him that Jin Mi can see what he sees. Her primordial spirit is still around. Xu Feng gives up his Demon Ruler position to Liu Ying. He looks for Jin Mi everywhere. He eventually settles in the Mortal Realm where Jin Mi healed him in the mountains during their trials.
The immortals visit Xu Feng to ask him to take leadership of the Heavenly Realm. Run Yu has practiced forbidden spells and is not fit to rule. He is also punishing himself as a way to repent. Xu Feng visits Run Yu but is unwilling to be the Emperor. He tells Run Yu that he should take responsibility for what he fought for. Run Yu recounts his sins and wants Xu Feng to kill him. But Xu Feng refuses to do so. He wants him to live to atone for his sins. Run Yu also hands over a box that Jin Mi had left behind for him. But Xu Feng can’t bear to open it.
3 Years Later
Run Yu remains as Emperor. He visits Xu Feng in the mountains and asks him about the box Jin Mi had left for him. Their relationship improves and Xu Feng is still willing to call Run Yu as brother. Xu Feng finally gathers the courage to open the box after Run Yu’s visit. It contains paintings of their times together. He recalls experiences with her that break his heart. As Xu Feng cries, a tear falls and Jin Mi appears.
But the happiness is short-lived. Jin Mi is gone moments after she appeared. For 3 years, her primordial spirit had lived in Xu Feng’s eyes. She had slowly absorbed the coldness in Xu Feng to cure him and turn into his tears before she dies. Xu Feng vows to find and wait for her.
500 Years Later
A shopkeeper’s daughter is getting married. She is someone who is always interested to cultivate to become a demon rather than an immortal. During the procession, Xu Feng appears to snatch the bride away. She is Jin Mi.
A year later, they have a son, Bai Lu. The 3 of them live happily in the Mortal Realm. Liu Ying’s daughter, Qing Tian, is friends with Bai Lu. Liu Ying is still the Demon Ruler and has been doing well. Sui He has gone insane. She enters a cave where she once banished King Yan Cheng’s 2 crazy sons who have become cannibals.
Run Yu drops by the Mortal Realm to visit Bai Lu. He meets Jin Mi and they have a cordial conversation. He asks if she is happy. She is with a husband and son. Run Yu continues to be the Heavenly Emperor. He has taken his revenge and seems to have everything but at the same time, nothing. He can’t have what he wants even if he begs for it. Kuang Lu and his deer remain with him. While life for Jin Mi and Xu Feng is simple in the Mortal Realm, they enjoy a happy and peaceful life with their son.
Other Romance Dramas On Everlasting Love
If you are a C-drama fan, you will surely have heard of Eternal Love Ten Miles Of Peach Blossoms. It is an epic tale of love and sacrifice in different times and worlds between a Crown Prince of the Heavenly Realm and a princess of the Fox Tribe. This production has one of the highest views for mainland dramas. With its huge success, the Eternal Love Of Dream follows. This one can be considered a sequel but it focuses on the romance of the second couple in Ten Miles Of Peach Blossoms. Personally, I prefer the earlier production because the story is more straightforward to me. But there are plenty of viewers who like Eternal Love Of Dream better.
Another spin-off would be Love And Destiny. This one doesn’t have as many fans as the Eternal Love series but I still recommend it as the story is compelling. It brings you on a journey of love and sacrifice of one powerful man to keep the woman he loves safe and protected. For a shorter drama, you can also check out Love Of Thousand Years although the way the story is told pales in comparison to the earlier dramas I have mentioned. But if you are not keen to invest 60 hours on a drama, it would be an option.

I don’t have the luxury to watch afull episode, so I only watched some clips on YouTube. So am wondering, what’s the meaning of immortal if they still die. Or they didn’t subtitled it well.
Drama Addict says
I don’t think you can take the meaning of immortal literally because the word refers to different things in Chinese philosophy, mythology, literature, and even religion. So, an immortal can be a wizard to an elf to a saint. They all tend to be depicted as having longevity in xianxia dramas but it doesn’t mean they don’t die. That is my understanding although I’m no expert in this subject matter.

Okay thanks

Do Chinese men still wear long hair today? I love dramas where men wear long hair. Is there any modern drama with men wearing Long hair? Let me know so I can save up and watch it on YouTube. thanks.
Drama Addict says
No, they don’t. Men with long hair and traditional costumes are dramas that are set in ancient times. They could also be xianxia dramas which are fantasy-based.
Ebere says
What is xianxia drama? Which one do you recommend?.
Drama Addict says
Xianxia dramas are normally stories with immortals. So, Ashes of Love is a xianxia drama. Others include Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, Eternal Love of Dream, Love and Destiny, and The Untamed. You can check out these 4 dramas as a start.

I much rather prefer the Night immortal to the fire immortal. I really wished that they gave a much happier ending with someone who shall heal his broken heart that leaving blank like that.
This is only but my opinion.

Great recap! Helpful as I watching the series (first time viewer in 2021) and filled in a few gaps for me, here and there. I was wondering if you could offer any insight to my question–if Jinmi soon dies after appearing when he cries and his tears evaporate (?) how did he know, after conversing with the Floral Chief, that he should wait for her? If her primordial spirit was gone after the crying scene, how would he know to wait for her to come back in another X amount of lifetimes? (Seems like it was 500 yrs afterwards)

We didn’t fully figure out what the Talisman given to Run Yu by the old man was all about. Who was that old man? What was the Talisman for? Did Liu Ying end up using it?

Thank you very much for this summary. I usually watch historical dramas. This is the first time I watch a xanxia drama, it’s difficult for me to understand all these gods & goddesses & monsters & powers … I am totally stranger to that world of fantasy. It is very new & strange for me. I will try to watch all the episodes.

Thank you for recaps. I like how you categorised eps into plot chapters so its easy for me to identify the parts I want to learn more about. Very useful. Keep up the good work. Your efforts are much appreciated.
