VLinkage, a Chinese entertainment data and marketing consultant company, has released its latest top 20 TV drama characters as of March 7, 2025. I have listed out the top 10 below.
No. 10
The 10th place goes to Zhang Wan Yi’s character Yu Jin in the period drama Si Jin. Zhang Wan Yi has been rising in popularity with a few hit dramas in the last 2 years. Most Chinese drama fans should recognize him after he played Xiyan Cang Xuan in Lost You Forever S1.
No. 9
The next character who managed to get on the top 10 list is also from the drama Si Jin. She is Jiang Si and portrayed by Jing Tian. The bravery of this well-liked female protagonist probably resonates deeply with the audience and hence, deserves to be recognized.
No. 8
In the 8th place is the character Shen Xi Fan from the drama The Best Thing. Xu Ruo Han plays Shen Xi Fan who is a hotel room manager and a workaholic. After Go Back Lover, she is now back in The Best Thing starring opposite Zhang Ling He.
No. 7
Su Cheng Cheng, the lead character in Filter, is at no. 7 on the list. Li Lan Di or Landi Li plays Su Cheng Cheng who is an ordinary girl whose life is transformed because of a bracelet. This is a interesting character as there are deceptions and plenty of guilt involved.
No. 6
In 6th place is none other than Deng Wei’s Su Yi Shui in Love Of The Divine Tree which is a xianxia drama. Su Yi Shui is a cultivator who can be cold and jealous but also happy and deeply in love. Deng Wei plays this character right to be able to worm his way to the viewers’ heart.
No. 5
At no. 5 is Zhang Ruo Nan’s Wen Yi Fan in The First Frost. Wen Yi Fan is a reporter who bumps into her high school classmate one day and the guy happens to be someone she had feelings for back then. With Zhang Ruo Nan’s beauty and sweetness, it is not hard to imagine why her character makes it onto the list.
No. 4
With Wen Yi Fan on the list, it isn’t surprising to have Sang Yan here as well at no. 4. Sang Yan is Wen Yi Fan’s love interest in The First Frost and he is played by Bai Jing Ting. The actor’s handsome face and charm make this character easy to fall for as you watch.
No. 3
The Best Thing also managed to have the male character making it into the Top 10 besides the female. Zhang Ling He’s He Su Ye is a Chinese medical doctor who treated the character played by Xu Ruo Han and they end up as a couple. For this role, Zhang Ling He actually went to study Chinese medicine for a few months so that his character as a doctor is well-portrayed. Thus, the no. 3 spot is well-deserved!
No. 2
In 2nd place is Bai Lu’s Xia Feng Hua in Northward. This drama has attracted a lot of attention including from officials due to the cultural and historical elements involved. Xia Feng Hua displays the courage and determination of women of a specific generation and time period which many mainland Chinese could relate to.
No. 1
And finally, no. 1 on the list is Tang Qi, the male character in Filter. Tang Qi is played by Tan Jian Ci who is rising in popularity especially after his role as Xiang Liu in Lost You Forever. Tang Qi is a gentleman and a businessman who keeps getting deceived by Landi Li’s character until the truth emerges.
