Perfect And Casual Episode Summary

I’m watching Perfect And Casual (完美先生和差不多小姐) after having just completed a few romance dramas in a row including the highly popular Love Is Sweet. I doubt this production can top Love Is Sweet in my books but I guess there is no harm giving it a try since I’m expecting it to be a relatively breezy watch. From what I have gathered, the online feedback is not too bad either despite the cliches. So, let’s start right now with the episode summary before moving on to the Perfect And Casual review later.

Episode 1

Yun Shu is a university student with a talent for drawing. She meets Zhang Si Nian at a cafe and gets pissed off with his fussiness and unreasonable attitude. But Si Nian turns out to be her new Statistics lecturer. He is a cold man with an obsession with calculations and precisions. He catches her drawing him during class and embarrasses her in front of everybody.

Yun Shu’s good friend is Gao Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo. She borrows Zhi Yi’s clothes to attend an interview and gets hired by chance. Yun Shu also buys a house with the money her parents left her and her sister after taking Si Nian’s advice that it is the best investment option. Her sister is a lawyer working abroad. Yun Shu listens to her cousin and bought an apartment in a gated community. As she needs to urgently to sign the agreement, she is a minute late for her exam. Si Nian immediately fails her.

With the failure, Yun Shu is unable to get her graduation certificate and loses her job. But she is happy that she now has got an apartment. However, she is shocked when Si Nian comes out of the shower while she is inspecting her new place.

A week ago, Si Nian was told of a lymphoma diagnosis with the patient having only a year left to live. He and Yun Shu have met before in a darkened cinema hall.

Episode 2

Si Nian tells Yun Shu that she has been tricked by her cousin. Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo advise her to lodge a police report with Si Nian’s help. Yun Shu then pesters Si Nian to go to the police station with her. But Si Nian needs to stop by at the hospital first to see Dr. Zhang. His grandfather, Grandpa Zhang, has only 3 months to live and a surgery may prolong his life.

At the police station, Yun Shu finds out that her cousin could be jailed for 10 years for the fraud committed. She decided not to lodge a report and apologize to Si Nian for the trouble. Si Nian asks her about telling lies as he is wondering if he should lie to his grandfather about his condition. Yun Shu replies that white lies with good intentions are not wrong.

Yun Shu has to move out of her dorm. Lin Nuo is working at the hospital and puts her up in the workers’ rest room. Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo used to date but have separated for 3 years. She has a new boyfriend named Feng Qi and Lin Nuo isn’t happy.

Yun Shu bumps into an old man at the hospital grounds. He takes a liking for her and thinks she would be a compatible partner for his grandson. Grandpa Zhang agrees to do the surgery. His wish is to see Si Nian having someone to love and be loved. Si Nian lies to him that he already has a girlfriend to encourage his will to live before the surgery. He sees Yun Shu at the hospital and asks her to be his girlfriend for a white lie.

Episode 3

Yun Shu plays along and pretends to be Si Nian’s girlfriend when she finds out that the old man she met earlier is his grandfather. Grandpa Zhang is happy and the surgery is successful. Si Nian takes pity on Yun Shu and feels responsible for failing her exam. He offers to let her stay in his place for a month.

Yun Shu moves in but finds that Si Nian is a cleanliness freak with everything properly aligned and well-organized. He divides the table and sets the timetable of when she can use the toilet and sleep in his study. He also shows her the precise time it takes to prepare a breakfast. Yun Shu still has not dared to tell her sister that she has been cheated by their cousin.

Grandpa Zhang is in an unstable mood. By the time Si Nian arrives at the hospital, his grandfather has calmed down because Yun Shu is there. While Yun Shu is out of the room, Si Nian rejects his grandfather’s request for him to marry her. Grandpa Zhang’s blood pressure rises. Yun Shu is clueless about what he has asked when she returns. She simply agrees to fulfill his wish to calm him down.

Episode 4

Yun Shu is shocked that she has blindly agreed to marry Si Nian. She tries to talk to Grandpa Zhang but gets introduced to visiting relatives as Si Nian’s fiancee instead. Yun Shu’s sister is also coming back home and wants to live with her. Yun Shu decides to see a lawyer whom Si Nian has recommended. But she ends up meeting another lawyer who agrees to help her to look for her cousin.

Si Nian tries to convince his grandfather that Yun Shu is not a suitable marriage partner for him by using statistical and scientific data to back up his arguments. His grandfather insists that she is perfect for him because she has a lot of warmth which Si Nian lacks. Yun Shu borrows $10,000 from Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo to pay the lawyer. Si Nian suspects she has been scammed again and quietly gets back her money from the scammer. Yun Shu is also worried that she might be cheated again when the lawyer is uncontactable.

The doctor tells Si Nian that his grandfather only has a year to live. Si Nian and Yun Shu are ordered by Grandpa Zhang to buy him some items from the supermarket. Yun Shu chooses the things based on feel, look, and smell rather spending time deciding based on science. Si Nian is impressed with the time-saving. He is also proven wrong when Yun Shu lends $100 to a woman at the cashier which is subsequently returned. Yun Shu believes there is warmth in this world. Si Nian returns her the money from the scammer. He hides the fact that she has been cheated by claiming that the lawyer is too busy to take up her case.

Si Nian then suggests that they should get married.

Episode 5

Si Nian puts forward a 1-year contract marriage proposal to Yun Shu with the apartment as payment at the end of the contract period. He will get to fulfill his grandfather’s wish while she will get the apartment that she lost. However, Yun Shu rejects the proposal. She decides to move out. But just when she is leaving with her luggage, her sister, Yun Lan, turns up. She claims that the luggage is rubbish and pushes it to the community bin. Yun Shu is then forced to introduce Si Nian as her boyfriend.

Yun Lan is suspicious but they pass her test to convince her that they are a couple. She is also impressed with Si Nian’s mathematical skills. Yun Lan stays with them for the night. Yun Shu remembers her luggage and retrieves it from the management office. But her plush toy which was a gift from her late father is missing. Yun Shu has to share Si Nian’s room for the night. She sleeps on the floor but wakes up on the bed the next morning.

Yun Lan is angry with Yun Shu for failing to graduate. Si Nian protects Yun Shu and stops her sister from scolding her. Yun Lan decides to move out but wants Yun Shu to let her know before making any major decisions. Yun Shu sees Si Nian looking through the rubbish bins to find her plush toy and is touched. They find it with a little girl and Si Nian tricks her to get it back for Yun Shu. Yun Shu feels Si Nian is kind to her and agrees to the contract marriage proposal to fulfill his grandfather’s wish. Si Nian tells her that he is kind to her because she deserves it.

Episode 6

Yun Shu and Si Nian sign the marriage contract. Si Nian makes it clear in the contract that there will no physical intimacy including touching hands. Grandpa Zhang insists that there must be a wedding ceremony although they try their best to protest.

Yun Shu informs her sister that she is getting married. She is also responsible to decide on a wedding package and venue. Si Nian takes the marriage contract literally and fines himself $100 for each time he accidentally touches Yun Shu. Yun Shu asks her sister to attend the wedding rehearsal since she will be the bidesmaid.

On rehearsal day, Yun Shu grabs her marriage contract instead of the wedding flow chart on her way out. Yun Lan panics when she sees that the groomsman is Lu Yu who is Si Nian’s childhood friend as well as a popular actor. Yun Lan hides in the powder room and feels embarrassed because she once had a one night stand with Lu Yu after getting drunk. She tells Yun Shu that she needs to leave and asks for the wedding flow chart before quickly stuffing it into her bag. Yun Shu mistakenly hands her the marriage contract.

Yun Shu tells Si Nian that they should not be too distant as that will give their act away. He agrees and suggests that they rehearse for the big day. They are practicing camouflaging their wedding kiss by playing with the angle when Yun Lan calls. She has read the marriage contract and wants Yun Shu to cancel the arrangement with Si Nian.

Episode 7

Yun Shu is unsure about what to do. She doesn’t want to hurt Si Nian’s grandfather but neither does she want to break ties with her sister. Yun Shu tries to talk to Yun Lan again but the latter still insists that she must not marry Si Nian. Yun Lan is afraid Yun Shu would be done for if Si Nian refuses to grant her a divorce after one year.

As the pressure piles up, Yun Shu escapes to the seaside to think things over. It is her dream wedding venue as it it linked to her past conversation with her late father. Si Nian is unable to reach Yun Shu and doesn’t know where she has gone to. He tells Yun Lan that Yun Shu is missing. After going through her things, they finally find her at the seaside.

Si Nian offers to cancel the contract marriage if Yun Shu finds it difficult to go ahead with the wedding. He understands that it is his problem and responsibility to tell his grandfather. Yun Shu tells her sister that she wants to decide for herself for once what she wants to do and find her own path. She trusts Si Nian will fulfill his end of the bargain. Yun Shu turns up to reassure Grandpa Zhang that the wedding is on just when Si Nian is about to tell him about the cancellation.

Yun Lan shows up for the wedding when she had declined to attend earlier. She warns Si Nian not to hurt her sister. Si Nian assures her that he will protect Yun Shu. During the ceremony, Yun Shu impulsively kisses Si Nian when they are supposed to put on an act. He is shocked. Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo are also surprised.

Episode 8

Zhi Yi asks Yun Shu if the wedding kiss is real. She instinctively grabs Lin Nuo and kisses him to show what Yun Shu had done. Yun Shu then turns around and questions Zhi Yi if her kiss with Lin Nuo is real before escaping to take photos. Grandpa Zhang gives Yun Shu a bank card as a wedding gift. She accepts it but then gives it back to Si Nian as she declines to take advantage of the situation.

On their wedding night, Yun Shu is still thinking about the kiss. There is also an awkwardness between them. Later, Si Nian’s misleading actions make Yun Shu assumes that he wants to sleep with her. However, he is just preparing to give her tuition to ensure she will pass her exam on the next attempt. So, she ends up doing homework on her wedding night.

The next morning, Si Nian removes the toilet schedule and changes the door password to their wedding date. Yun Shu is excited about the start of her married life. Feng Qi texts Zhi Yi to tell her that they should revert to being friends. Lin Nuo is happy and teases her. Zhi Yi starts to cry.

Yun Shu thinks Si Nian is bringing her to buy clothes. But they end up shopping for her text books. While at a restaurant, he helps her to defend a waitress from being scolded by the manager. Si Nian also assures Yun Shu that she is not a useless person but just hasn’t found her life direction and promises to help her within the year. Zhi Yi can feel that Yun Shu is falling for Si Nian and tells her so. Yun Shu is beginning to look at Si Nian dreamily and daydreams of them kissing.

Episode 9

Yun Shu is getting smitten by Si Nian. Si Nian is not too satisfied with Yun Shu’s academic progress and asks her to attend his classes at the university. Yun Shu is feeling shy as she is now married to him.

Si Nian’s attention on Yun Shu in class makes her feel self-conscious. Si Nian also reminds her to concentrate in class and not just stare at him. During the lunch break, Si Nian orders Yun Shu to eat something that she dislikes as it is nutritious and good for her. He also picks a rice off her face with his chopsticks and waves it in front of her. Yun Shu instinctively eats it up from his chopsticks which leave both of them feeling embarrassed.

Yun Shu admits to Zhi Yi that she has fallen for Si Nian. Zhi Yi advises her to send him love signals. So, Yun Shu buys a pair of his-and-hers pajamas. She claims that couple pajamas are on sale when giving it to him. Yun Shu is still worried that the gap between her and Si Nian is too huge to overcome. Zhi Yi advises her to continue to overwhelm him with her love. She also gets to know Gu Xiao by chance.

Misunderstanding

Ms. Shen’s mother is raising a ruckus at her office about her divorce. Yun Shu realizes the negative effects of divorce on a woman. He tells Yun Shu not to attend his classes anymore and they should avoid being seen together. It leaves her confused. Yun Shu collects her wedding photos and then visits Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo on campus. She bumps into Ms. Shen and the photos spill out of her bag.

Si Nian is angry that Yun Shu has gone against his advice as he wants to protect her reputation and minimize the negative effects on her when the marriage is over. Yun Shu is disappointed that he only sees her as a contract party and nothing more.

Episode 10

The next morning, Si Nian discovers that Yun Shu has moved out. She doesn’t want to give Si Nian any more trouble. Yun Shu manages to get a job selling beer at the supermarket and stays at the workers’ dorm. Si Nian starts to miss Yun Shu’s presence at home.

Lu Yu continues to woo Yun Lan. He shows up at her apartment and tells the guards that he is her boyfriend. She has to let him in. Yu Lu quietly sits with her until she falls asleep before carrying her to her bed.

Yun Shu continues to visit Grandpa Zhang as scheduled. She also informs Si Nian that she is working at the supermarket and refuses his money. Yun Shu panics when she notices her sister at the supermarket while on duty. Fortunately, Si Nian is also there and he helps her to prevent Yun Lan from finding out. But the manager is angry with Yun Shu for running away from her duty. She begs him for another chance. Si Nian appears to help her to keep her job.

Si Nian tells Lu Yu that Yun Shu has moved out. He should be happy as he got what he wanted in being distant but he kind of misses her. Lu Yu tells Si Nian that he is falling in love but he denies it. Zhi Yi is now having a crush on Gu Xiao and Lin Nuo isn’t happy. Yun Shu meets Mr. Meng at the supermarket. He offers her a job as an assistant at his law firm. But it is all arranged by Si Nian. Mr. Meng is his ex-schoolmate.

Episode 11

Yun Shu is afraid she will not be able to perform in her new job but Grandpa Zhang gives her confidence. He also asks her to clean up his villa and texts Si Nian to do the same. Hence, both of them end up meeting each other at the villa. Yun Shu notices a mermaid picture in a fairy tale book had been scrawled. Si Nian quickly takes it away from her and seems uneasy.

Ms. Shen notices that Si Nian is now happier but also advises him to be clear of his motives with Yun Shu as women tend to overthink. Yun Lan witnesses Lu Yu doing his job. He insists on a few takes in a slapping scene to obtain the best shot. Lu Yu then turns up at Yun Lan’s apartment again. She takes pity on him and lets him in as he claims to be sick.

Grandpa Zhang is discharged from hospital and returns to his villa. He wants Si Nian and Yun Shu to stay overnight. Yun Shu learns from Grandpa Zhang that he had used the mermaid fairy tale to explain to Si Nian about the death of his mother.

Si Nian and Yun Shu share a bed for the night. Yun Shu tells him what his grandfather has told her and tries to untie the knot in his heart about his mother. Si Nian suggests that they can be open about their relationship if she doesn’t mind letting others know. Before returning home, Yun Shu surprises Si Nian with a mermaid costume and tells him that the mermaid has kept her promise to return for him. Si Nian also realizes that the girl he met in the darkened cinema hall was Yun Shu when he notices her ticket stub.

Episode 12

Yun Shu gives Si Nian a picture of a mermaid hugging a boy that she has drawn. Si Nian asks her to move back in with him. She agrees although she is afraid of falling in love with him again. Zhi Yi advises her to recite Statistics formulas each time her mind starts messing up when she is with him. Gu Xiao invites Zhi Yi to his birthday party.

Si Nian is watching Lu Yu’s show. He asks Yun Shu if she likes him because Lu Yu has told him before that actors and actresses tend to fall in love with each other during filming. So, Si Nian thinks the situation also applies to them because they are also acting. But Yun Shu denies it.

New Job

Lin Nuo helps Zhi Yi to dress up for Gu Xiao’s birthday party. Gu Xiao introduces Zhi Yi as his girlfriend. Yun Shu starts work as Mr. Meng’s assistant. She is keen to learn and help him. So, Mr. Meng gives her references to go through. Si Nian feels neglected as Yun Shu brings work home.

Yun Lan is not willing to give Lu Yu a chance. Yun Shu informs her sister about her new job. She also asks Yun Lan if she has fallen crazily in love with someone before. Yun Lan says no as she is too busy with work. She also advises Yun Shu not to sleep with Si Nian if she doesn’t love him.

Si Nian goes to see Mr. Meng to complain about the amount of work he gives Yun Shu. He has to hide under the desk when Yun Shu enters Mr. Meng’s office. Mr. Meng purposely asks Yun Shu about the work that she has been given to prove a point to Si Nian. Yun Shu replies that she is comfortable with it and has no complaints.

Si Nian learns from Yun Shu that the trifles of life can make one happy when he accompanies her grocery shopping. He also readily tells others that they are married.

Episode 13

Yun Shu informs Si Nian that she will be working overtime. She finds out that Mr. Meng is also a fan of her favorite manga author. They start chatting and she tells him about her relationship with Si Nian. Si Nian couldn’t reach her and calls Mr. Meng. Yun Shu finds out that it is Si Nian who recommended her to Mr. Meng. She is fine with it and will work hard to prove herself.

Zhi Yi is going on a date with Gu Xiao. Lin Nuo is worried that she will get cheated and follows her. Zhi Yi keeps drinking. Gu Xiao then brings her to a hotel room and calls Lin Nuo to come and get her. But Lin Nuo is already standing outside the room. Zhi Yi is mad at Lin Nuo for tailing them and they end up arguing.

Si Nian is waiting for Yun Shu outside her office with a coat. But Yun Shu is with Mr. Meng and they have agreed to have dinner. Si Nian joins them. Both the men are antagonistic towards each other because of their interest in Yun Shu. Yun Shu boils Si Nian some ginger tea for his cold. He doesn’t believe it works but drinks it anyway because Yun Shu has made the effort.

Lu Yu purposely takes up a lawyer role to have an excuse to work as Yun Lan’s assistant. She gives him old files to read and expects a report after the weekend. A client, Gao Mei, accidentally causes Yun Shu’s leg to be scalded by hot tea. Si Nian isn’t happy with Mr. Meng and vice-versa as they fight over Yun Shu. At home, Yun Shu trips and falls inside the bathroom. Si Nian closes his eyes when he enters to carry her out.

Episode 14

Si Nian carries Yun Shu back to her room. The next day, Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo visit her. The 2 of them are still having a cold war. Zhi Yi asks Lin Nuo not to intervene in her relationship and judge Gu Xiao. Lin Nuo just wants Zhi Yi to be happy and denies that he still has feelings for her.

Yun Shu is still working hard while recuperating at home. Si Nian doesn’t like it and is jealous over her relationship with Mr. Meng. He also calls Mr. Meng who tells him that he has bought insurance for all his employees because of Yun Shu. Si Nian helps Yun Shu to go over the Gao Mei’s case and finds evidence of her ex-husband’s crimes.

Lu Yu asks Yun Lan to enact a scene from his script and show him how a lawyer acts. He admires her prosecuting skills and hugs her at the end of their play just as her subordinate enters her office. Yun Lan is mad at his impulsiveness.

Mr. Meng manages to get Gao Mei the settlement she wants from her ex-husband with Yun Shu’s evidence. He invites his staff for a celebratory dinner. Yun Shu feels good to win her first case. Si Nian insists on attending the dinner with her. She introduces him as her cousin. Si Nian keeps a watchful eye over dinner. Mr. Meng admits to Si Nian that he loves Yun Shu as well and will compete with him for her affections.

Yun Shu is unsure if Si Nian loves her. Zhi Yi asks her to watch what he will do on her birthday to know his feelings. Hence, Yun Shu hints to Si Nian about her up-coming birthday. In the morning, Si Nian offers to drive her to work.

Episode 15

Yun Shu will be late for work because of a traffic jam. Mr. Meng appears on his motorbike to give Yun Shu a lift. Si Nian purposely rear-ends a car to force Mr. Meng to handle the accident. He then takes over Mr. Meng’s motorbike to send Yun Shu to the office.

Lu Yu defends Yun Lan from malicious gossips. Yun Lan steps out after seeing how Lu Yu has stood up for her. She finally accepts him as her boyfriend.

Mr. Meng tells Yun Shu that he has been quietly helping her to find her cousin, Huo Qi. He brings her to meet his investigator. Si Nian is waiting for her when she returns home. Yun Shu shows him the details that Mr. Meng has gathered about her cousin. Si Nian could deduce where Huo Qi would appear next.

Lin Nuo sees Gu Xiao with another girlfriend at the hospital. He tries to warn Zhi Yi but she wouldn’t listen. He accompanies her to Gu Xiao’s office. Zhi Yi finds out about the other girl and is devastated. She accuses Lin Nuo of wanting to see her being fooled by not telling her the truth earlier.

Mr. Meng gives Yun Shu a surprise birthday dinner. He confesses his feelings for her. But Yun Shu rejects him and tells him that she loves Si Nian. Mr. Meng asks her to re-consider and not to confuse gratitude with love.

Si Nian waits for Huo Qi and chases after him when he appears. But Si Nian lost him midway through. Si Nian already has a cake prepared for Yun Shu. But when he sees her with Mr. Meng, he hides in his room when she returns home. Yun Shu is also disappointed that Si Nian didn’t celebrate her birthday with her.

Episode 16

The next morning, Si Nian wishes Yun Shu Happy Birthday but avoids sending her to work. Mr. Meng knows Yun Shu’s feelings and tells her that it is his choice to love her quietly. Si Nian admits to Lu Yu that he is experiencing such complex feelings for the first time. Lu Yu tells him that he must have fallen for Yun Shu but Si Nian is still not fully convinced.

Mr. Meng knows love cannot be forced and wants his relationship with Yun Shu to remain as before. He explains that Si Nian does have high IQ but not EQ when he learns that Si Nian did not celebrate her birthday with her. Zhi Yi is miserable over her breakup with Gu Xiao. Lin Nuo comforts her. However, Gu Xiao is only doing his ex-girlfriend a favor to pretend to be her boyfriend for the sake of her sick mother.

Mr. Meng’s friend sends him a smart watch that can help people with emotional disorders to communicate with others. The friend will be return home from abroad and she also knows Si Nian. Mr. Meng convinces Si Nian to wear the watch to test it out. Yun Lan is having second thoughts about her relationship with Lu Yu since he is a popular actor. Their photos have made it online and she isn’t comfortable.

Love Confirmation

Yun Shu is happy when she sees her birthday cake in the fridge. Si Nian celebrates with her and she apologizes for being late the night before. He also learns Mr. Meng was only returning her phone that she left behind when he saw them together. His watch is registering his physiological reactions. The next day, Si Nian is again anxious when Mr. Meng rings Yun Shu to work overtime. Yu Lu advises him to kiss Yun Shu if he really wants to confirm his feelings for her. Si Nian tries to do so at the beach but bumps his head into Yun Shu’s instead. He claims that he lost his balance.

Yun Lan receives a threatening parcel. Mr. Meng hands over the watch data report to Yun Shu. It has the details of Si Nian’s body reactions at different times and she then knows he has feelings for her. Si Nian also receives the same report which gives him the confirmation of his own feelings. They are anxious to meet each other immediately. Yun Shu bumps into Huo Qi outside her office.

Episode 17

Si Nian is waiting for Yun Shu. When she fails to show up, he asks Mr. Meng about her whereabouts. From the security cameras, they discover that she has met Huo Qi and left with him. Mr. Meng could recognize the people following them.

Huo Qi has borrowed a large sum of money from a loan shark named Mr. Tu. Yun Shu is unwilling to help Huo Qi to repay the money he borrowed. But she couldn’t bring herself to leave when the thugs hit him. Si Nian and Mr. Meng arrive. They couldn’t find anything wrong with the loan contract that Huo Qi has signed. Si Nian manages to convince Mr. Tu to accept the repayment sum that he proposes. He promises to pay on Hui Qi’s behalf.

Yun Lan tells Lu Yu to reconsider their relationship as they are from 2 different worlds. A client, Mr. Han, also has interest in Yun Lan. Zhi Yi is still feeling angry over Gu Xiao. Lin Nuo tries to calm her down. They end up in a karaoke bar and start kissing after a few drinks.

Si Nian finally confesses his feelings to Yun Shu and kisses her. But they feel awkward again the next morning. Yun Shu complains to Zhi Yi that she can’t feel the romance as Si Nian doesn’t even give her a kiss before he leaves for work when she is expecting one.

Episode 18

Si Nian suggests to Yun Shu that should share the same bed since they are now really a couple. Yun Shu couldn’t sleep the whole night and tells Si Nian that they are probably going too fast in their relationship. Si Nian is confused. Ms. Shen advises him to go step by step in a romance which includes dating. Hence, Si Nian invites Yun Shu for a movie.

Gao Mei asks Yun Shu to consider being an artist after seeing her drawings. She informs her of an up-coming interview at her company. Si Nian is unsure how to be romantic and loving while on the movie date. He admits to Yun Shu that he is clueless but is willing to learn and really likes her a lot. Yun Shu kisses him for his effort. The next morning, Si Nian kisses Yun Shu before leaving for work which makes her happy.

Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo are watching a movie together. He tries to kiss her but she avoids it. Gu Xiao texts Zhi Yi to meet up. Si Nian and Yun Shu bring Huo Qi to meet Yun Lan. Huo Qi apologizes to Yun Lan and promises to work hard to repay his debts. Yun Lan doesn’t want to forgive him but Lu Yu tells her to rein in her bad temper.

Si Nian goes through Yun Shu’s old scrapbook and notices the criteria that she had listed for her ideal boyfriend. He is troubled that he fails on many fronts and discusses it with Lu Yu who is also having problems with Yun Lan. When Si Nian talks to Yun Shu about her list, she assures him that he is already good enough and kisses him.

Episode 19

Zhi Yi and Yun Shu come across a confident and pretty lady who is seen encouraging a young couple. They are impressed and compliment her. Yun Shu submits her resignation to Mr. Meng to try her luck at being a cartoonist. The doctor informs Grandpa Zhang that he has only 3 months left to live but he doesn’t let it affect him emotionally.

Gu Xiao tries to see Zhi Yi again to explain but she claims that she doesn’t believe him. Lin Nuo appears and lets Gu Xiao know that he and Zhi Yi are now dating. Zhi Yi is distracted after the meeting with Gu Xiao.

Lu Yu is waiting for Yun Lan who has been avoiding him. But Mr. Han is there to bring Yun Lan for an event. Lu Yu follows them and comes forward when Yun Lan is pressured to drink. He drinks it on her behalf and then leaves with her. The alcohol has been drugged and Yun Lan brings Lu Yu back to her home. Lu Yu convinces her of his sincerity and they end up spending the night together.

Yun Shu manages to get a job offer as a cartoonist. The lady that Zhi Yi and Yun Shu met earlier is Lin Chu Chu. She is Si Nian’s old friend and now colleague for a research project. Zhi Yi tells Yun Shu that she thinks Gu Xiao is telling the truth but is at a loss of what to do with both Gu Xiao and Lin Nuo. Lin Nuo overhears the conversation.

Yun Shu’s comics will be serialized. She calls everyone about the good news but all of them seem to be busy. However, they have organized a surprise party for her.

Episode 20

Yun Shu’s comics have high readership but she is then sued for plagiarism for using someone’s sayings that she has found online. Yu Lu is mobbed by fans for pictures while dating with Yun Lan. But this time, Yun Lan is more prepared to accept the exposure.

Yun Shu will try to contact the author to apologize for her mistake. The author turns out to be Chu Chu. She has read Yun Shu’s comics and enjoyed them. They agree to cooperate for future works end up being friends.

Zhi Yi relates to Yun Shu about her discomfort of being alone with Lin Nuo. Lin Nuo overhears their conversation. Gu Xiao is still contacting Zhi Yi but she hides it from Lin Nuo. When Lin Nuo suggests that they move to a smaller town to settle down, Zhi Yi is not receptive to the idea.

Chu Chu finds out that Si Nian is already married when colleagues try to pair them up. She is disappointed because he had told her before that he wouldn’t consider a relationship until he has won a medal for his research work. Chu Chu spills her sorrows to Yun Shu. She tells her about her one-sided love for an ex-classmate and later, fellow researcher while abroad. Chu Chu hasn’t confessed her feelings but thinks the man should know her feelings. She had also hurriedly kissed him on the cheek before when he was rushing to return home.

At home, Yun Shu asks Si Nian about his first kiss. He tells her that his first kiss is with her. Yun Shu subsequently bumps into Si Nian and Chu Chu on campus. Both the women realize they have been talking about the same man.

Episode 21

Yun Shu is still grappling with her feelings about Chu Chu and Si Nian’s relationship. She asks Si Nian why he had lied to her about his first kiss. He explains that he only thought of it as a courtesy goodbye kiss.

Lin Nuo tells Zhi Yi that they should break up because she is still thinking about Gu Xiao. Zhi Yi then confides in Yun Shu. She is confident that Lin Nuo will come back to her after a few days. Zhi Yi also assures Yun Shu that Si Nian wouldn’t have married her if he has feelings for Chu Chu.

Chu Chu asks Si Nian to bring Yun Shu along for a dinner with Mr. Meng. When Yun Shu is ordering, Chu Chu tries to show that she knows Si Nian’s personal tastes in food. But Si Nian defends Yun Shu’s choices. After dinner, Chu Chu tells Mr. Meng that Si Nian and Yun Shu are hardly compatible. She also knows about their contract marriage from Yun Shu’s comics drafts.

Chu Chu confronts Yun Shu about it. She tries to convince Yun Shu that there is nothing in common between her and Si Nian for the marriage to work. But Yun Shu doesn’t buy into that argument.

Zhi Yi sees Lin Nuo together with a colleague and assumes she is his new girlfriend. She blows her top and they quarrel over it. Si Nian decides to quit from the research group to avoid Chu Chu. But Yun Shu doesn’t want him to quit because of her. They are kissing when the doorbell rings. Zhi Yi is crying over her breakup with Lin Nuo and wants to bunk in with Yun Shu to Si Nian’s frustration.

Lu Yu’s agent meets Yun Lan to inform her that Mr. Han has sued Lu Yu for intentional injury.

Episode 22

Si Nian and Chu Chu are in a retreat with other team members to complete their project. Grandpa Zhang is in the hospital but doesn’t want Yun Shu to let Si Nian know during a phone call. Si Nian makes it clear with Chu Chu that he is now married and his contractual marriage with Yun Shu has turned into a real one as he loves her. But Chu Chu is still skeptical.

Grandpa Zhang assures Yun Shu that there can never be anything between Si Nian and Chu Chu as they are too much alike which is akin to 2 parallel lines that will never intersect. Yun Shu tries to patch things up between Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo although he is not convinced that they could settle their differences. So, she asks the 2 of them to follow her to the retreat to look for Si Nian. They find Si Nian in his room with Chu Chu and climb onto his balcony to eavesdrop.

Si Nian Rejects Chu Chu

Si Nian is telling Chu Chu that he has analyzed the data on his relationship with Yun Shu and he finds that the happiness generated during their time together is very high for a couple. He further elaborates that Yun Shu has changed him and he sees Chu Chu only as a good friend. When Chu Chu asks for a farewell hug, Si Nian merely extends out his hand for a handshake. A noise in the balcony leads him out to find Yun Shu and her friends there. Si Nian kisses Yun Shu in front of them without hesitation.

Zhi Yi thinks that Lin Nuo has changed but he feels that he is just back being himself after the breakup. Yun Lan discusses with Lu Yu about his case. Lu Yu had threatened Mr. Han to stay away from Yun Lan which forms the basis of the legal suit. He wants Yun Lan to stay away from Mr. Han and he will handle the case himself.

Yun Shu is offered to be an assistant to a famous Japanese manga author but she has to leave the country for 3 years. Gao Mei also informs Chu Chu about the good news. Yun Shu is unsure whether to take up the offer because she can’t bear to be separated from Si Nian. Grandpa Zhang only has 2 more months to live. Chu Chu drops by the hospital to visit him. She recommends that Grandpa Zhang to be sent abroad for treatment and also congratulates Yun Shu about her new posting.

Episode 23

The doctor suggests it may be worth sending Grandpa Zhang overseas for treatment. Yun Shu informs Gao Mei that she intends to turn down the offer to work abroad. Lu Yu’s agent informs Yun Lan that Lu Yu is already being cold-storaged by the company. Yun Lan agrees to continue to be Mr. Han’s company’s legal counsel. In return, Mr. Han will drop his suit against Lu Yu.

Chu Chu will be leaving for abroad with the completion of the project. Yun Shu is worried about Grandpa Zhang and thinks they should not give up on his treatment overseas. Si Nian wants her to focus on her thesis and graduate. Lu Yu asks for a breakup when Yun Lan continues to take up the job as Mr. Han’s legal counsel.

Real Marriage

Yun Shu passes her exam and graduates. Si Nian asks her if she is willing to be his real wife since their marriage contract is nearing expiry. She agrees but asks him to give her a year to enable her to take up the work offer abroad. At the same time, she wants Si Nian to take care of Grandpa Zhang while he undergoes his treatment overseas. They finally consummate their relationship.

Lu Yu only wants to deal with Yun Lan through his lawyer. But his lawyer informs him that Yun Lan has tried her best to protect his interest in the settlement agreement with Mr. Han. Yun Lan informs Yun Shu that she is planning to take a break. Grandpa Zhang refuses to go overseas for treatment. He asks Si Nian not to tell Yun Shu so that she can work abroad with peace of mind.

Zhi Yi wants to reconcile with Lin Nuo and even marry him. But Lin Nuo informs her that he will be going to Africa for work with his colleague. She regrets taking him for granted but he tells her that it is already too late for them. Si Nian sends off Yun Shu. Lin Nuo is also at the airport to fly to Africa. Zhi Yi is sad that he only wants to be friends now.

Episode 24

Yun Shu turns around and goes to look for Si Nian after finding his little notes in her handbag. He has written all the practical tips to help in her new environment which moves her to tears. Si Nian is shocked to see her. She knows she is being naive not to go abroad but she feels that nothing can replace him and Grandpa Zhang as they are family. Yun Shu also believes she will have the same opportunity in the future. She suggests to Si Nian that they should live with Grandpa Zhang.

Lu Yu apologizes to Yun Lan and asks for a reconciliation. But Yun Lan tells him that there is a mental gap between them and breaking up is inevitable. She is also feeling very tired and learns that she is pregnant.

Lu Yu Proposes

Yun Shu bumps into Lin Nuo’s colleague who tells her that Lin Nuo went to Africa alone. She then informs Zhi Yi who thinks Lin Nuo must have lied to get rid of her. Yun Lan tells Yun Shu about her pregnancy. Yun Shu thinks Lu Yu has a right to know and informs him together with Si Nian. Lu Yu then proposes to Yun Lan with a crowd looking on. She pretends to be unwell to force Lu Yu to lead her away. Yun Lan sets him a 3-month period to gauge his performance.

Zhi Yi texts Lin Nuo that she will be joining a volunteer program to serve in Africa and will look for him. Si Nian and Yun Shu take Grandpa Zhang back to his villa from the hospital. Together with Yun Lan and Lu Yu, they let off fireworks. Lu Yu tells Si Nian that he loves Yun Lan and wants to give her a home as he knows she is an insecure woman. Yun Lan is hesitating about marriage because she is unsure if she can be a good wife and mother. Grandpa Zhang advises the women that as long as love exists, it will be sufficient.

Grandpa Zhang also knows about Yun Shu and Si Nian’s contract marriage. But Si Nian assures him that he and Yun Shu are destined to be together. He also tells Yun Shu that his life would be imperfect without her as they share a kiss by the sea.

Other Dramas With Cold Male Leads

If you like romance dramas with a cold male lead, there is The Night Of The Comet 2. The pairing is similar to Perfect And Casual in the sense that the male lead is older and successful while the female character is just a fresh graduate.
