Love Of Thousand Years Jiu Yun Qin Chuan

The last time I get to watch Zheng Ye Cheng was in Love 020. He had a support role then but he did create an impression on me with his pretty boy looks. Now, he is totally different in Love Of Thousand Years (三千鸦杀) in a costume drama setting. I’m looking forward to this and also glad that it is only 30 episodes long. After having just sat through 58 episodes of Eternal Love, I’m happy with a shorter fantasy and romance drama for a change. The episode summary is as below and I will also post the review for Love Of Thousand Years or sometimes known as The Killing Of Three Thousand Crows when I’m done watching the whole drama.

Episode 1

Fu Jiu Yun is an immortal together with his good friend, Mei Shan. His teacher has left him a painting a thousand years ago.
Painting shows a battle with a lady beating the drum of war. Jiu Yun has been looking for this lady ever since. He finally found her in the mortal realm.
Yan Yan is Dali’s princess. She is quick witted but not a particularly obedient student. She is close to her maid called Ah Man.
Yan Yan is introduced to the works of Gong Zi Qi – a supposedly handsome but arrogant man with talents in art and music. She wants to get her hands on his music composition and dance to the tune. But it is a complicated melody.
Both Yan Yan and her cousin, Xuan Zhu, are interested in the same man, Zuo Zi Chen. But Zi Chen only has feelings for Yan Yan.
Zi Chen’s father, Zuo Xiang, is the Premier of Dali. He wants to resign but the Emperor (Yan Yan’s father) needs his services. Dali is being challenged by Tianyuan which worships demons and practises witchcraft.
Yan Yan manages to dance to the tune created by Gong Zi Qi with Zi Chen’s help by rearranging the melody. Gong Zi Qi is Jiu Yun’s mortal identity.
Yan Yan’s teacher is also Mei Shan’s brother. He wants Jiu Yun to stop interfering in Yan Yan’s life because an immortal should not involve himself in the affairs of mortals. He agrees and gives him a painting to be passed to Yan Yan.
Tianyuan begins their attack into Dali. Zuo Xiang sends Zi Chen away to the temple. Then he uses witchcraft to summon soldiers.
Yan Yan goes to Zi Chen’s residence to pass him Gong Zi Qi’s painting. But she sees soldiers streaming out.

Episode 2

Zuo Xiang notices Yan Yan and orders her to be killed.
The soldiers chase after Yan Yan. Jiu Yun uses his immortal powers to save her although he is not supposed to.
Zi Chen suspects something is amiss. He threatens his father’s men to turn back to Dali.
The Emperor got betrayed by Zuo Xiang. Tianyuan soldiers advance into the palace. Yan Yan’s family is killed.
Yan Yan runs back to the palace to see corpses everywhere. A Man protects her from danger and gets slashed.
Zi Chen hurries to the palace and tries to get Yan Yan to follow him. He promises to protect her. But Yan Yan slashes his eyes instead because of his family’s betrayal.
Yan Yan’s teacher plucks her and Ah Man away to safety from his flying mount.
Ah Man is stabbed by pursuing soldiers. She dies.
Yan Yan wants revenge. Her teacher advises her to get the spiritual lamp to contain the Tianyuan demons. She will also need to forget her identity.
A woman that looks like Ah Man works as a maid at a mountain. Her name is Qin Chuan.
Steward Zhao wants Qin Chuan to marry her dimwitted nephew, Er Meng. Qin Chuan pretends to agree.
Both Qin Chuan and her friend, Cui Ya, are selected to be servants at Xiangqu Mountain. Xiangqu Mountain is the land of the immortals.
Jiu Yun notices Qin Chuan among all the new servants. He is well-known for his notoriety but his good looks earn him many female admirers including Cui Ya.
Jiu Yun tells Mei Shan that “she” is here – the lady he saved from Tianyuan demon soldiers. But he doesn’t know why she is in Xiangqu Mountain.
Qin Chuan is given the task of taking care of the plants and flowers.

Episode 3

Dragon King of White River is coming to Xiangqu Mountain but his motive is suspect.
Jiu Yun has 2 things in his body that are sealed by the Xiangqu Mountain Master. Without his seal, Jiu Yun would have died long ago.
Qin Chuan finds an entrance to a cave. She enters it after unblocking the spell.
Qin Chuan is Yan Yan. Her teacher gave her Ah Man’s face and a new identity in her quest to find the spiritual lamp. He also gave her a map of Xiangqu Mountain where the lamp is.
Jiu Yun catches Qin Chuan trespassing into forbidden area. She pokes him with her anesthetic needle when he hugs her from behind. She runs away when he faints.
Jiu Yun keeps appearing in front of Qin Chuan and toys with her. She tries to deflect his attention.
Qin Chuan claims that she is at Xiangqu Mountain to look for her childhood sweetheart named Dou Dou. The anesthetic needle was self-defense as she thought Jiu Yun is a womaniser.
Qin Chuan explores the mountain again. She finds a fairy mirror. Another maid turns up. The mirror reflects their true identities and attacks them. Qin Chuan pushes her against the mirror to break it. The maid turns into a seahorse which is a possible spy for the Dragon King of White River.
Qin Chuan claims she was lost and bumped into the maid. Jiu Yun says he will handle the matter. He knows Qin Chuan is lying.
Jiu Yun collects the mirror fragments which turn into a young man.
Jiu Yun presses Qin Chuan on her motive at Xiangqu Mountain but she feigns ignorance.
Qin Chuan falls off a ladder while pruning leaves. Jiu Yun catches her. He takes her mirror as compensation for saving her.

Episode 4

Xiangqu Mountain Master warns Jiu Yun of potential dangers ahead given that a spy had tried to enter Wanboa Garret.
2 guests arrive at Xiangqu Mountain – Zi Chen and Xuan Zhu.
Xuan Zhu brings Zi Chen to the mountain to treat his eyes. But Zi Chen is reluctant because he doesn’t like the immortals especially the master who is known for his greed.
Qin Chuan is reminded of her past with Zi Chen. She tried to see him one last time before she changed her face and overheard his conversation with Xuan Zhu.
Zi Chen knew nothing about the rebellion. But he doesn’t blame Yan Yan for gouging out his eyes and hating him.
Xuan Zhu asked Yan Yan to leave Zi Chen and that she will make him forget her. Yan Yan vowed she will never see him again because she can’t forget her people even if she doesn’t hate him.
Xuan Zhu gives a valuable painting to the Xiangqu Mountain Master and becomes his disciple in order to get him to treat Zi Chen.
Qin Chuan tries to avoid Zi Chen as much as she can.
Jiu Yun returns Qin Chuan’s mirror when he sees her feeling downcast.
Qin Chuan bumps into Zi Chen and breaks her jade watering vase. Zi Chen falls and cuts his hand due to the vase fragments. Qin Chuan is forced to lead him back to his quarters.
Zi Chen senses a familiarity in Qin Chuan which reminds him of Yan Yan. He touches her face to study her appearance. Xuan Zhu and Madam Qing Qing suddenly appears. Qin Chuan is reprimanded. Zi Chen protects her.
Madam Qing Qing throws Qin Chuan into jail for her mistake.
Jiu Yun rescues Qin Chuan from jail and makes her his personal maid.

Episode 5

Jiu Yun reminds Qin Chuan that he knows her secret. So, it is better for her to be his staff than to be sorry later.
An announcement is made that Qin Chuan is to be Jiu Yun’s personal maid. A sedan is sent to pick her up to go to Jiu Yun’s residence.
They toy and play tricks on each other as they begin their master-servant relationship.
Qin Chuan meets Bai Zing Ji, the man in the mirror. She realizes who he might be and is afraid he will know her identity. She tries to smash his head while he is sleeping but keeps hesitating and missing. Then, she is summoned by Jiu Yun.
Zi Chen wants to borrow Qin Chuan to be his maid from Jiu Yun. But Qin Chuan turns him down. Jiu Yun then suggests that Qin Chuan be given time to consider.
Mei Shan visits Jiu Yun to bring him wine and meets Qin Chuan. He hints about someone like her being his brother’s disciple and that Jiu Yun is in love until it could harm him by making reference to the wine. However, Qin Chuan doesn’t seem to get the message.
Mei Shan gives Jiu Yun a pill to eat. It will ensure his spiritual power will be unharmed when he is injured.

Episode 6

Jiu Yun asks Qin Chuan again if she wants to serve Zi Chen. She says no.
Xiangqu Mountain Master shows Madam Qing Qing the painting that Xuan Zhu has given him. It is the same painting that Gong Zi Qi had given Yan Yan earlier.
Jiu Yun is wondering if Qin Chuan still has feelings for Zi Chen. He asks her to serve Zi Chen as his maid as he will be gone for the night.
With no one around, Qin Chuan wanders off and enters Wanbo Garret.
Qin Chuan is attacked by 2 guardians as she tries to go further. Jiu Yun’s stone lights up to warn him of a breach in Wanboa Garret.
Qin Chuan drops her essence oil bottle during the fight. She is defeated and heavily injured.
Jiu Yun saves her. But Xingqu Mountain Master and Madam Qing Qing are approaching. Jiu Yun minimizes themselves and hide inside a sachet.
Xiangqu Mountain Master and Madam Qing Qing have an affectionate relationship. Madam Qing Qing notices Qin Chuan’s essence oil and keeps it. But she keeps quiet about their presence.
Zi Chen wants a reply from Qin Chuan about being his maid. He is angry when he finds out that she is injured and Jiu Yun claims that he has beaten her for being disloyal.
Zi Chen wants to leave the mountain. He doesn’t like it that Xuan Zhu has become the master’s disciple just to treat his eyes.
Bai Zing Ji recalls that Qin Chuan is Yan Yan and wants to torture her for hitting his head. But Jiu Yun has bigger plans for Qin Chuan.
When Qin Chuan is awake, she asks why Jiu Yun has saved her. He replies that it is because she is his favorite little maid.

Episode 7

Qin Chuan thanks Jiu Yun for saving her. She is willing to be his servant to repay him.
Xiangqu Mountain Master is practising his powers with the spiritual lamp. Jiu Yun warns him not to overdo it or he could turn to ashes. The lamp contains an evil force of a thousand years.
Jiu Yun is in charge of the mountain’s security. Xiangqu Mountain Master suspects there is a spy around and wants Jiu Yun to handle it.
Xuan Zhu overhears the conversation about the spy.
Zi Chen wants a duel with Jiu Yun over Qin Chuan. He lost but Qin Chuan appears to ask Jiu Yun not to hurt him. Qin Chuan assures Zi Chen that she fell off a cliff and Jiu Yun didn’t hurt her.
Jiu Yun brings Qin Chuan to Wanbo Garret and asks her to pick any treasures that she wants. She picks ambergris which gives off a nice fragrance.
Jiu Yun exposes Qin Chuan’s identity and her relationship with Zi Chen. He knows she wants the spiritual lamp. But she doesn’t know the consequence of lighting it. He tells Qin Chuan she can go and serve Zi Chen now that she has recovered. He does so with a heavy heart.
Qin Chuan gives the ambergris to Er Meng.
Jiu Yun tells Mei Shan that Qin Chuan wants the spiritual lamp. But the lamp could cost Jiu Yun’s his life.
Qin Chuan arrives to serve Zi Chen. He plays her their old tune which makes her cry.
Xuan Zhu instructs her staff to monitor Qin Chuan.
Steward Zhao meets Jiu Yun to tell him that Madam Qing Qing has been making enquiries on Qin Chuan. Jin Yun notices that Qin Chuan has given the ambergris to Er Meng.

Episode 8

Qin Chuan brings Zi Chen for a stroll. Zi Chen mentions that Xuan Zhu is merely his benefactor. They bump into Jiu Yun and Madam Qing Qing.
Zi Chen thanks Jiu Yun for offering Qin Chuan to him. Jiu Yun replies she is merely a maid which makes Qin Chuan unhappy.
Zi Chen senses Qin Chuan is not happy serving him. He starts indulging in self-pity for being blind. Qin Chuan comforts him. When she touches his face, he feels she is Yan Yan. Zi Chen decides to get his eyes treated.
Jiu Yun knows Madam Qing Qing has Qin Chuan’s essence oil bottle and tells her so.
Madam Qing Qing speaks of her suspicion about Qin Chuan to Xuan Zhu and about a spy lurking among them.
Xuan Zhu tries to plant evidence that Qin Chuan is the spy. But Qin Chuan catches her in the act.
Qin Chuan is not afraid to reveal her identity to Xuan Zhu who has always been jealous of her because she knows Xuan Zhu is the spy for the Dragon King of White River from their past.
Xuan Zhu then frames Madam Qing Qing as the spy. The Xiangqu Mountain Master kills Madam Qing Qing as a result.
Zi Chen recovers his eyesight with the master’s treatment. But he cannot remember Yan Yan anymore.
Xuan Zhu had asked Xiangqu Mountain Master to seal Zi Chen’s memories of Yan Yan when he treated his eyes. Qin Chuan thinks she is despicable.
Zi Chen still has vague flashbacks of his moments with Yan Yan.
Xuan Zhu is appointed by Xiangqu Mountain Master to take over Madam Qing Qing’s position.
Jiu Yun takes back Qin Chuan as his maid. She asks him if he is responsible for Madam Qing Qing’s death.

Episode 9

Jiu Yun simply says that he indirectly caused Madam Qing Qing’s death.
Xuan Zhu’s mission is to put a toxic pellet inside the spiritual lamp to poison Xiangqu Mountain Master’s organs when he hones his powers with it.
The Dragon King of White River visits Xiangqu Mountain Master. The latter brings out Gong Zi Ji’s painting to show off.
The Dragon King and Jiu Yun immerse themselves inside the painting and start a duel. Jiu Yun is unable to match the Dragon King’s power.
Qin Chuan accompanies Jiu Yun to leave the meeting hall. He tells her that he wants to make someone happy but she is always playing dumb with him. Qin Chuan is adamant that she doesn’t know what he is talking about and insists on finding the spiritual lamp.
Jiu Yun then brings her to Wanbao Garret to show her the painting. He reminds her the painting was hers and how happy she used to be.
After entertaining the Dragon King, Xuan Zhu secretly gets to the spiritual lamp. Qin Chuan tails her into the cave.
Qin Chuan wants the lamp to save the Dali people. Xuan Zhu wants to fulfill her mission. She launches a weapon at Qin Chuan.
Madam Qing Qing and Jiu Yun stop Xuan Zhu. She isn’t dead as it is all a set up by Jiu Yun to trap Xuan Zhu. Qin Chuan asks Jiu Yun not to harm her cousin.
Qin Chuan is asked to leave the mountain. She brings Zi Chen to safety as requested by Xuan Zhu since a battle is looming.
The Dragon King and Xiangqyu Mountain Master battles it out as soldiers swarm the area.
The Dragon King is losing. But then he consumes a pill given by a hooded man earlier and turns into a dragon.

Episode 10

The Dragon King defeats Xiangqu Mountain Master who turns into a little snake. The latter‘s seals are then broken.
Zi Chen regains his memory on Yan Yan. Jiu Yun’s dark forces are unsealed.
The Dragon King tries to kill Jiu Yun when he refuses to surrender the spiritual lamp.
Qin Chuan hears that Jiu Yun is dying from fleeing disciples. When she appears to help him, Jiu Yun sees her as the lady in his teacher’s painting.
Jiu Yun blocks Qin Chuan from the Dragon King’s attack. He makes Qin Chuan unconscious before unleashing his dark forces to kill the Dragon King. He collapses with severe injuries and immerses himself into his painting.
When Qin Chuan awakes, Jiu Yun is missing. She rushes to get the spiritual lamp. When the lamp is removed, a rock drops on her. Er Meng saves her.
They rescue Xuan Zhu before leaving the mountain.
Steward Zhao informs Qin Chuan that Jiu Yun is dead. She becomes distressed. Zi Chen tries to comfort her and tells her that he now knows she is Yan Yan. But Qin Chuan tells him that they can’t go back to the past. She asks him to take care of Xuan Zhu before leaving.
Er Meng is not who he seems to be. He immobilizes Qin Chuan and takes her spiritual lamp when they are together. He says that he had really wanted to marry her before parting ways.
Xuan Zhu apologizes to Zi Chen for his memory loss. He forgives her.
Bai Zing Ji and Qin Chuan decide to look for Jiu Yun and the spiritual lamp together at Steward Zhao’s hometown in Lingyu City.
Er Meng is a Tianyuan prince. He pretends to be carefree in front of his elder brother who is the Crown Prince.

Episode 11

Qin Chuan and Bai Zing Ji learn that Lingyu City’s Prefecture Chief has increased taxes. Li state refugees are tortured and bullied. They break into the chief’s residence to find that the chief is Steward Zhao. They tie her up and learn that Er Meng is Taiyuan’s Prince.
Jiu Yun is quietly recuperating from his injuries. His teacher had sealed the Demon King inside the spiritual lamp before dying in the battle. Jiu Yun’s duty is to protect the lamp as his life is tied to it.
Zi Chen and Xuan Zhu are travelling through snow to meet her mother. He exchanges his hairpin given by Yan Yan to get a coat for Xuan Zhu. His father arrives to meet them.
Qin Chuan and Bai Zing Ji follows Er Meng to a casino but they couldn’t get inside.
The Demon King warns the Crown Prince to keep an eye on his brother.
The casino is just a front for Er Meng to conduct his secret mission. He tests out the spiritual lamp on a demon beast which easily subdues it. As it does so, Jiu Yun can feel the effects.
Er Meng wants a foolproof plan before he unleashes the lamp to fight the demonic camp.
Xuan Zhu reunites with her mother who has been kept at an ice field by the Dragon King. He had rescued them from the palace when the Li state fell. With the Dragon King dead, Zuo Xiang claims it is his duty to protect the last of the Li royalty. Zi Chen is uncomfortable hearing that and still angry with his father.
Bai Zing Ji pretends to be Steward Zhao to enter Er Meng’s palace. Er Meng points him to the spiritual lamp.

Episode 12

Er Meng knows it is Bai Zing Ji and ties him up. He hides him when the Crown Prince happens to drop by his palace.
Xuan Zhu tries to persuade Zi Chen to accept back his father. But he still blames him for what happened. She further asks him if he would leave her. ZI Chen didn’t give her an answer.
Qin Chuan is worried about Bai Zing Ji and sneaks into Er Meng’s palace. She sees the Crown Prince who also notices her.
Soldiers pursue Qin Chuan. Er Meng pulls her to safety and distracts his brother by pretending to have caught the intruder.
Both Qin Chuan and Er Meng are curious why each of them want the spiritual lamp. But Er Meng refuses to surrender it to Qin Chuan. He also thinks it is dangerous if she has it as his brother would be after her.
Er Meng quietly sends Qin Chuan and Bai Zing Ji out of his palace.
Jiu Yun misses Qin Chuan. He could follow her on-goings through Bai Zing Ji.
Qin Chuan learns that the Li refugess have been rounded up at the Crown Prince’s camp. She tries to save them but is surrounded. Jiu Yun appears to save her and knocks the Crown Prince unconscious.
Er Meng uses the spiritual lamp to try to subdue the demon in the unconscious Crown Prince. But the lamp breaks into pieces as it is a fake piece. The Crown Prince regains consciousness as if nothing has happened to him.
Jiu Yun is with Qin Chuan at the market stalls.

Episode 13

Qin Chuan asks Jiu Yun where he has been. He says he has hidden in his painting to recuperate but the painting has now been destroyed when he saved Qin Chuan from the Crown Prince. So, they end up at an inn.
The Crown Prince wants to draw Zi Chen to his side due to his many talents.
Qin Chuan accuses Jiu Yun of stalling her from looking for the spiritual lamp. He tells her the lamp is no longer in Lingyu City as he can sense it. He will take it back once he fully recovers.
Zuo Xiang tries to repair his relationship with Zi Chen. He claims to be regretful of his actions.
Qin Chuan and Jiu Yun spend time with each other as they wait for him to fully recover. Jiu Yun almost kisses Qin Chuan until she bails out at the last minute by claiming that she is hungry.
Jiu Yun tries to get Qin Chuan not to think of the spiritual lamp and her country all the time but to live for the moment. He advises her not to overestimate herself of what she can do.
The Crown Prince thinks the immortal he fought with at his camp is not Jiu Yun. The Demon King uses his powers to summon demonic forces to look for him.
Jiu Yun is sleeping with Qin Chuan when the unsealed forces in his body responds to the demonic powers looking for him. He struggles to quietly get out of the room and move to a forest to subdue the unsealed forces in his body. Qin Chuan leaves after him.

Episode 14

Jiu Yun stops Qin Chuan from running away to look for the spiritual lamp. He promises to take her to find it the next morning.
Zuo Xiang, Zi Chen, Xuan Zhu, and her mother arrive back at the Zuo’s family mansion. He insists that the 2 women stay at his place.
Zuo Xiang orders his staff to monitor Zi Chen although he appears remorseful in front of his son.
Jiu Yun takes Qin Chuan to look for the spiritual lamp. He confesses his love to her but she moves away to avoid a response.
Jiu Yun finally tells Qin Chuan that he has the lamp and the one she took from Xiangqu Mountain is a fake. He doesn’t want her to die because of the lamp. Qin Chuan is angry with the lie. She uses her paper enchantment spell to attack him.
Jiu Yun is hurt and faints. Before that, he insists that he wouldn’t give her the lamp even if she hates him for it. Qin Chuan is regretful and helps to take care of him.
Zuo Xiang redeems the hairpin for Zi Chen which surprises him. He takes the opportunity to ask about Yan Yan. Zi Chen replies that he has not seen her but is suspicious. He asks Xuan Zhu not to tell his father anything. Zuo Xiang’s spy reports back to him on the conversation.
Jiu Yun asks Qin Chuan to bring him his clothes after a bath. Qin Chuan notices a pouch among his clothes. When she brings his clothes over, he kisses her.
Zi Chen wants to go and look for Qin Chuan but Xuan Zhu dissuades him as she feels there is nothing he can do to help her.
Qin Chuan cooks Jiu Yun a meal as he has been requesting.

Episode 15

Qin Chuan has laced the food to drug Jiu Yun. She steals the spiritual lamp. Before leaving, she cries as she kisses his forehead.
Qin Chuan lights up the lamp with her blood. She will need 4 spiritual powers to contain all the demons – 3 are her enemies and the last is herself. Thus, she will need to kill Zuo Xiang, the Crown Prince, and Tianyuan’s Emperor.
Xiao Ling bumps into Qin Chuan. She is a peach tree spirit which was planted by Qin Chuan’s teacher. Qin Chuan requests Xiao Ling to check on Jiu Yun for her.
Mei Shan visits Jiu Yun and takes him away. When Jiu Yun awakens, he realizes his spiritual lamp is gone from his pouch. He wants to find Qin Chuan but then changes his mind because she won’t listen to him anyway. Mei Shan helps Jiu Yun to seal the 2 forces in his body temporarily.
The Demon King couldn’t find the forces in Jiu Yun since they have been suppressed by Mei Shan. But he could sense he is panicking and suspects it has to do with the lamp.
Zi Chen has a disagreement with his father on demons being the ruler and his refusal to work for them.
Xuan Zhu and her mother try to make Zi Chen jealous so that he will pay more attention to Xuan Zhu. But he appears blur as to their intention.
Zuo Xiang tries to pry information out of Xuan Zhu on Yan Yan but she feigns ignorance.
Xiao Ling returns to tell Qin Chuan that she can’t find Jiu Yun at the inn.
Lord Li brings news that the Crown Prince wants to be acquainted with Zi Chen for his talents in art and poetry. Zi Chen is asked to meet Lord Li.

Episode 16

Zi Chen is uncooperative and direct during his meeting with Lord Li. But Xuan Zhu’s mother wants him to play the zither to accompany her daughter’s dance during the banquet to welcome Lord Li.
Zi Chen leaves immediately after the dance.
Qin Chuan appears at the banquet and shoots dead Zuo Xiang with her immortal bow. His spiritual power is sealed in the lamp.
Zi Chen senses something is amiss and turns back to see his father already dead.
Jiu Yun finally figures things out. Qin Chuan’s revenge is dependent on him
Something changes in Zi Chen while he mourns his father.
Qin Chuan becomes a cook at a restaurant. She wants the opportunity to survey the venue for a pageant in which the Crown Prince would turn up.
Xuan Zhu notices Er Meng who is now a Tianyuan Prince and finds him familiar.
Zi Chen now works for the Crown Prince who wants him to bring Xuan Zhu and her mother to meet him. Xuan Zhu is angry at Zi Chen for working with the Crown Prince.
Qin Chuan finds out that Gong Zi Qi is in town from her employers. They thought that he is her boyfriend.
The Crown Prince finds out from Xuan Zhu that Gong Zi Qi likes to play the zither and is suspicious he might be Jiu Yun.
A masked Gong Zi Qi has developed a reputation as a great artist. Women are lining up at his door for him to paint them. Qin Chuan goes to his house to check him out. She sees the Crown Prince and Zi Chen there as well.

Episode 17

The Crown Prince claims to admire Gong Zi Qi’s paintings. He wants him to take off his mask. The person behind the mask is Mei Shan.
The Crown Prince invites Gong Zi Ji to stay in one of his residences and attend the Huachang pageant.
Qin Chuan is about to shoot the Crown Prince with her bow and arrow but gets distracted by a boy helper. The boy is actually Jiu Yun in disguise.
Jiu Yun finds the Crown Prince to be spooky like the 2 forces inside his body. He suspects the demon to be in the capital.
The Crown Prince is suspicious of Gong Zi Qi and Zi Chen. The Demon King knows Zuo Xiang’s killer is not Jiu Yun but someone who has got the spiritual lamp from him. He tells the Crown Prince that he will be the next target.
Xuan Zhu questions Zi Chen about his motive for working with the Crown Prince. He ignores her.
Qin Chuan’s employers want her to prepare and send food to Gong Zi Qi. He invites her in. He makes references to her being his favorite little maid which makes Qin Chuan realize he is Jiu Yun.
Qin Chuan asks Jiu Yun why he is here. He says it is to see her and watch how she will need his help when she fails in her mission. She vows not to ask for his help.
On the day of the pageant, Qin Chuan makes a participant unconscious and takes her place. The Crown Prince has Xuan Zhu sits next to him and takes a liking for her which causes Zi Chen to be uncomfortable. Mei Shan disguises as Gong Zi Qi with Jiu Yun becoming the boy helper.

Episode 18

When Qin Chuan wins the beauty pageant with a veil on. Zi Chen and Xuan Zhu are aware who she is.
Mei Shan provokes Zi Chen with references about the winner to remind him of Yan Yan.
Er Meng threatens Xuan Zhu to keep quiet about his time at Xiangqu Mountain from the Crown Prince.
When Qin Chuan gets to be alone with the Crown Prince, she tries to kill him but fails. Just then, a flock of birds attack the Crown Prince to enable Qin Chuan to escape from danger. They are sent by Jiu Yun.
Zi Chen chases after Qin Chuan and could have killed her. She admits to killing his father. But he lets her go with the message not to let him see her again.
Xuan Zhu meets up with Qin Chuan. She accuses her of hurting Zi Chen again because she now knows why he became the Crown Prince’s assistant. It is because of Qin Chuan. But Qin Chuan asks her to stop being naive as the issue is not about them and she has no intention to get anyone involved.
Qin Chuan is now a wanted person for being the Crown Prince’s assassin but the picture posted does not clearly resemble her.
Jiu Yun forces Qin Chuan to be his personal maid again. He lays out a painting that reminds her of her happy past. But Qin Chuan tells him not to try to persuade her to forget her mission.
Jiu Yun suggests to Qin Chuan that she is not the only one that wants to kill the Crown Prince.
The Crown Prince again toys with Xuan Zhu in front of Zi Chen. He remains quiet.
Qin Chuan goes to see Er Meng and shows him the spiritual lamp.

Episode 19

Qin Chuan tells Er Meng that she wants to kill the Crown Prince and takes away his spiritual power. She is prepared to suffer forever together with the demons the lamp has contained.
According to Er Meng, the Crown Prince is invincible to due to a unique birth chart. But he will become a mortal during the Ghost Festival and that will be their best chance to kill him.
Bai Zing Ji reports back to Jiu Yun about Qin Chuan’s plan with Er Meng. He spies on her through her mirror as instructed by Jiu Yun.
Er Meng will smuggle Qin Chuan into the palace as a maid. She will then insert her paper enchantment spell on the Crown Prince’s clothes to track his movements on the Ghost Festival.
Jiu Yun gets himself into the palace as an artist to paint for the Empress. Mei Shan disguises himself as one of the officials.
In the palace, Jiu Yun could feel the Demon King calling for him for a duel. He asks Mei Shan to unseal the forces inside his body because he wants to look for the Demon King.
The Demon King has to gather 7 forces together to fully revive himself.
Jiu Yun meets Qin Chuan on the way to the Demon King. She accuses him of following her and realizes he has spied on her through her mirror. Jiu Yun insists that she can’t defeat the Crown Prince with Er Meng.
Jiu Yun starts to struggle with the forces inside his body. He tells Qin Yuan to leave as he doesn’t want to see her again.
Zi Chen sees Xuan Zhu in the palace to entertain the Crown Prince. He tells her not to force herself and marry the Crown Prince because of him.

Episode 20

Zi Chen convinces Xuan Zhu not to marry the Crown Prince but to escape together with him.
The Crown Prince orders Zi Chen to make the preparations for his wedding with Xuan Zhu and bring her to the palace. Zi Chen promises her that he will arrange for her to leave when the time comes.
Zi Chen notices Qin Chuan masquerading as a maid and advises her not to do anything stupid. She refuses to listen and warns him not to go near the Crown Prince during the Ghost Festival.
The Crown Prince wants Xuan Zhu to pray with him during the Ghost Festival and orders Zi Chen to arrange it.
On that day, Zi Chen arranges for Xuan Zhu to leave and not to wait for him if he doesn’t turn up.
Qin Chuan brings the Crown Prince’s prayer clothes and tries to stick a paper man on him. The paper falls to the floor. Zi Chen quickly picks it up.
Zi Chen refuses to let Qin Chuan to take risk again and offers to stick the paper man on the Crown Prince.
Xuan Zhu refuses to leave without Zi Chen. She returns to the palace and overhears his conversation with Qin Chuan. Xuan Zhu realizes Zi Chen is still looking out for Qin Chuan. She offers to do it for them instead. She feels if Qin Chuan doesn’t get her revenge, there won’t be peace for all of them.
Xuan Zhu accompanies the Crown Prince for his prayers and sticks the paper man on his back. They are at Haotian Hall. Qin Chuan, Zi Chen, and Er Meng rush there.
Jiu Yun asks Mei Shan to protect Qin Chuan. He sees the trio entering Haotian Hall.

Episode 21

Jiu Yun recalls how his teacher used the spiritual lamp to stab himself to light it up during the duel with the Demon King. 2 of the Demon King’s forces are sacrificed to the lamp and sealed inside Jiu Yun’s body. His dying teacher had reminded him to stay away from the Demon King and to take care of the lamp as his life has been tied to it.
The Demon King and Jiu Yun battle it out.
Simultaneously, vines from the demon statue attack Qin Chuan, Er Meng, and Zi Chen. Xuan Zhu is already tied up.
The Demon King asks Jiu Yun if it is worth it to let Qin Chuan light up the lamp when he will be destroyed as the wick.
The Demon King successfully inhales in the 2 forces out of Jiu Yun but is severely injured because they contain 2 Suoling Nails. Jiu Yun got them from Xiangqu Mountain Master when he turned him back into human form after the defeat by the Dragon King.
As the Demon King weakens, the vines disappear. Qin Chuan kills the Crown Prince.
The Demon King turns into a fireball. Jiu Yun tries to get everyone to leave from the prayer hall. But Qin Chuan insists on collecting the Crown Prince’s spiritual power first.
The fireball swoops in and snatches the lamp and the Crown Prince’s body. Jiu Yun tries to slay it. Before it flies off, it tells Qin Chuan that she has exacted revenge on the wrong person.
Zi Chen finds ministers being imprisoned including his own father. The Demon King has created their puppets to serve Tianyuan.
Qin Chuan finally realizes that the real murderer is the Demon King. Jiu Yun also admits that he inherited the spiritual lamp from his teacher.

Episode 22

Qin Chuan is sorry that she has lost the spiritual lamp. Jiu Yun consoles her that they have got the Crown Prince’s spiritual power sealed up.
Jiu Yun brings Qin Chuan to Xiangqu Mountain. It is now home for the Li people.
Zi Chen and his father move there together with Xuan Zhu and her mother. Zuo Xiang wants to rebuild Li.
Qin Chuan refuses to acknowledge her identity to Zuo Xiang as she feels like a failure. She is unhappy but Jiu Yun knows he will only make her feel more guilty if he consoles her.
Qin Chuan apologizes to Zi Chen. But he tells her the man she killed wasn’t his father and to let bygones be bygones as he returns her the hairpin she has gifted him earlier.
Jiu Yun is worried about the Demon King as the Suoling Nails won’t restrain him for long.
Zi Chen tells Jiu Yun that he has let go of Qin Chuan but he doesn’t want her to lose hope. Jiu Yun feels if Qin Chuan is treated like a god that can rebuild Li, then she wouldn’t dare to see her failures. For him, he sees her as just a girl and love to him is to help her achieve her dream.
Xiangqu Mountain Master is now a powerless man. He wants Jiu Yun to help him regain his powers with the spiritual lamp. Jiu Yun informs him that it is lost.
Xuan Zhu feels unwanted as she thinks Zi Chen could now get back together with Yan Yan. Zi Chen tells her that it is no longer possible but she is not convinced.
Zi Chen promises his father that he will help to rebuild Li.
Xuan Zhu forces Xiangqu Mountain Master to tell her more about the spiritual lamp.

Episode 23

Zuo Xiang leads the people to acknowledge Xuan Zhu as the Li Princess. She accepts when she notices Qin Chuan nearby.
Xuan Zhu accuses Qin Chuan of being stupid for wanting to sacrifice her life with the spiritual lamp and a coward for forsaking her position. But Qin Chuan feels Xuan Zhu is stronger and braver than her and would make a better Princess.
Jiu Yun sends Bai Zing Ji to cheer Qin Chuan up and teaches him what to say. She feels she is destined to lead an ordinary life since she is prone to making mistakes. But she also discovers it is Jiu Yun who is teaching Bai Zing Ji and tells him to stop.
The Crown Prince reappears but seems detached. Er Meng panics and rushes out of the city.
Qin Chuan appears happier on the surface but cries uncontrollably during a thunderstorm. Jiu Yun consoles her.
Xiangqu Mountain Master discovers the Crown Prince’s spiritual power in a sealed container in Qin Chuan’s room. He inhales it in when told he could regain his powers.
Jiu Yun would need to find the Qingying stone if he wants to kill the Demon King. But he is unsure if the stone exists although his teacher has mentioned it before.
The Crown Prince’s spirit is now in Xiangqu Mountain Master’s body and could communicate with the Demon King.
It is the Mid-Autumn Festival. Jiu Yun is having fun with Qin Chuan. Zi Chen wants to launch a lantern with Xuan Zhu but she moves away when he hesitates for a second as she doubts she is the one he loves.

Episode 24

Jiu Yun brings Qin Chuan up to the sky for a romantic time together.
Zuo Xiang convinces Xuan Zhu to host the prayers for welcoming the God and erecting of ancestral tablets as she is the last Li royalty. Zi Chen is willing to accompany her as she is unmarried.
Jiu Yun’s time with Qin Chuan is interrupted with the news that a kid’s spiritual power has been sucked. It is Xiangqu Mountain Master’s doing. Jia Yun wants to kills him but he claims to know where the Qingying stone is. It is in the crater in the north. Jiu Yun is unaware that it is the Crown Prince that is hiding in the master’s body.
With the spiritual lamp, the Demon King can rule all the 3 realms once he kills Jiu Yun.
Mei Shan volunteers to follow Jiu Yun to the crater. He is afraid Jiu Yun might get killed. Jiu Yu feels it is his destiny to be responsible for Qin Chuan since he changed her fate by saving her. Bai Zing Ji overhears their conversation. Jiu Yun asks him to stay to look after Qin Chuan for him.
Zi Chen is anxious over Xuan Zhu when she hurt her leg. She is unsure if he genuinely cares for her.
Xuan Zhu purposely asks Qin Chuan to inscribe her own tablet for Yan Yan since she refuses to acknowledge her own identity.
Jiu Yun asks Qin Chuan for her mirror by claiming to have lost his. He quietly leaves when she is asleep.
On prayer day, Zi Chen notices Qin Chuan with Yan Yan’s tablet. He persuades her not to evade her responsibility and that she is Princess Yan Yan. Xuan Zhu overhears it and thinks Yan Yan is the only princess in Zi Chen’s heart.

Episode 25

Xuan Zhu leads the prayer session. Then she announces that Yan Yan is alive and points to Qin Chuan. Zi Chen drags Qin Chuan away to prevent her from scrutiny.
When Zi Chen returns, Xuan Zhu has left the mountain. He goes to look for her.
Xuan Zhu bumps into Xiangqu Mountain Master. She knows he is the Crown Prince.
Qin Chuan admits she is Princess Yan Yan to Zuo Xiang. She pleads with him to take care of her people.
Bai Zing Ji lets Qin Chuan know where Jiu Yun had gone. He uses his powers that allows them to see Jiu Yun having a duel with the Demon King. Qin Chuan insists on going there. Bai Zing Ji brings her to an ice field town below the volcano.
Jiu Yun is defeated and knocked down to the volcano.
Zi Chen meets Er Meng who tells him that Xiangqu Mountain Master has been possessed by the Crown Prince’s spiritual power. Xuan Zhu has been taken to the extreme north. With spatial transference, they head there as well.
Qin Chuan is caught by the Crown Prince and brought to an ice cave. When she regains consciousness, she could see the Demon King, Xiangqu Mountain Master, and the Crown Prince’s body.
The Crown Prince is actually the Demon King’s son. The Demon King convinces the Crown Prince is allow him to transfer back his spiritual power to his body. But the Demon King sucks in his power instead to become stronger and to overcome the Suoling Nails.
Qin Chuan asks the Demon King about Jiu Yun. He shows her that Jiu Yun is in the volcano. He is waiting for him to incinerate because he is the wick for the spiritual lamp and will die if it is lighted up.

Episode 26

The Demon King tries to convince Qin Chuan that Jiu Yun has been deceiving her and wants her to persuade him to incinerate himself.
Qin Chuan pretends to agree. The Demon King brings her to see Jiu Yun. Qin Chuan then jumps down to the volcano to be with him.
Xuan Zhu is imprisoned behind an ice block. Zi Chen keeps hitting the block until his hand bleed to save Xuan Zhu.
Jiu Yun explains to Qin Chuan that he has made up his mind to be the wick when he allowed her to have the lamp.
Qin Chuan uses her paper enchantment spell to create a flying mount to fly them up from the volcano.
They battle with the Demon King. Qin Chuan pierces her own heart to create the ultimate paper tiger to save Jiu Yun. But the Demon King is too strong. He starts a fireball to kill them both. But Bai Zing Ji stands in the way. His mirror reflects back the fireball.
Bai Zing Ji is smashed into pieces and dies. But the reflection pushes the Demon King to drop the lamp and down the volcano.
Mei Shan arrives to save Qin Chuan. The bottle containing Xiangqu Mountain Master’s spiritual power drops out of her pocket. Jiu Yun is kind enough to ask Mei Shan to let him go.
Qin Chuan slowly recovers with Jiu Yun’s care. He hopes she would not abandon her dream and live in pain because of him.
Both Jiu Yun and Mei Shan are concerned about the Demon King’s next step.
Zi Chen takes care of Xuan Zhu who is suffering from coldness and nightmares.
The Demon King is saved by the Demon God.

Episode 27

The volcano erupts and the people run for their lives.
Zi Chen is having a conversation about Qin Chuan with Er Meng. They are talking about her sacrifices for her country. Xuan Zhu overhears part of their conversation. But she left before Zi Chen is heard telling Er Meng about his current love towards her.
Zuo Xiang drops by and the conversation focuses on Qin Chuan’s sacrifices and her sufferings again. Xuan Zhu begins to have self-doubt about her worth and her position as a princess.
Jiu Yun and Qin Chuan start a stall selling pancakes as they try to avoid the issue of demons and the spiritual lamp as long as they can. But 2 customers relate their experience of escaping from a volcanic eruption and the magma path that look like a monster.
Xiangqu Mountain Master meets Jiu Yun to thank him for saving his life. He reveals that the Qingying stone is at the bottom of the Southern Sea and it will seek out its master.
Qin Chuan finally learns that Bai Zing Ji is dead. They throw his mirror fragments into the river to bid him goodbye.
Zi Chen gathers up his courage to confess his feelings to Xuan Zhu. But she feels inadequate as she keeps comparing herself to Qin Chuan.
Jiu Yun and Qin Chuan go to the bottom of the Southern Sea to look for the Qingying stone. A mussel seeks out Qin Chuan and they find the stone inside.

Episode 28

Jiu Yun and Qin Chuan know they face death and are willing to die together. They wish they could have a happy life together with kids. They end up sleeping together and enjoying endearing moments before returning to shore.
With the Qingying stone, they meet up with Mei Shan and Er Meng. Mei Shan is not comfortable that Jiu Yun can handle the Demon King as he needs time to recuperate. But he insists he can. They will need a 5-person formation with the Qingying stone to fight the Demon King.
Er Meng still has feelings for Qin Chuan. He tells her he will be there for her should Jiu Yun mistreats her.
Xuan Zhu is willing to go with Zi Chen to do battle with the Demon King. He promises her that they will live together in seclusion after the battle.
Qin Chuan thanks Xuan Zhu for volunteering for the battle. She hopes Xuan Zhu can learn how to be a person with compassion as she has done after falling in love with Jiu Yun. Xuan Zhu asks to see the spiritual lamp.
Jiu Yun and Qin Chuan carve their names on a bamboo tree before they set out for the battle.
When they arrive, Jiu Yun suddenly erects a barrier to stop Mei Shan, Er Meng, Zi Chen, and Xuan Zhu from proceeding. Jiu Yun and Qin Chuan have made the decision not to involve innocent people in their personal battle.
As Jiu Yun and Qin Chuan fight the Demon King, the latter unleashes his demonic forces to make them hallucinate. Jiu Yun finds himself saving Qin Chuan in his teacher’s painting.

Episode 29

The Demon King has trapped them within their own inner monsters in their hallucinations which will gradually deplete their energy. He wants Qin Chuan to release the Qingying stone if she wants to save Jiu Yun. She releases it and stirs Jiu Yun to wake up from his hallucination.
Er Meng is immune to the hallucinations He breaks open the barrier created by Jiu Yun earlier.
After getting the Qingying stone, the Demon King wants their spiritual lamp next.
As Jiu Yun and Qin Chuan fight a losing battle, Er Meng suddenly appears and swoops in to pierce the Demon King with his sword. He could kill the Demon King because he is the one with the unique birth chart.
With the Demon King injured, Jiu Yun retrieves the Qingying stone. Together with Qin Chuan, they kill him and seal up his spiritual power inside the lamp. Mei Shan, Zi Chen, and Xuan Zhu wake up from their hallucinations.
Then, the Demon God arises. The Demon King’s intention all along is to resurrect the ancient Demon God.
The Demon God launches attack on them. Zi Chen, Er Meng, and Mei Shan are holding the shield to block the attack.
Jiu Yun and Qin Chuan are saying their goodbyes as they are about to light the lamp. But Xuan Zhu gets to it first. She pierces her heart with the lamp and sacrifices herself to light it up. Qin Chuan tries to stop her but falls unconscious when hit with its power. Xuan Zhu wants Zi Chen to remember her forever. Zi Chen finally tells her that he loves her but it is too late.
The lamp lights up and starts containing all the demons inside it. Jiu Yun carries the unconscious Qin Chuan home and vanishes while she is asleep.

Episode 30

Qin Chuan awakes to find Jiu Yun gone. She knows he has died and cries.
Mei Shan advises Qin Chuan to wait for Jiu Yun. He claims Jiu Yun has told him to look for her and heal her from the Demon King’s spell. Hence, she should go on living as Jiu Yun will return once he gathers back his soul.
Qin Chuan keeps thinking of the times that they had spent together.
After a year, Mei Shan has lifted the Demon King’s spell on Qin Chuan. She realizes that Mei Shan has been lying to her about Jiu Yun coming back to life. Qin Chuan decides she doesn’t want to wait for him anymore.
Zi Chen is now a school teacher.
Er Meng is now Tianyuan’s Emperor. He still thinks of Qin Chuan. He senses she has gone to the spiritual lamp. Qin Chuan thinks of Jiu Yun as she touches the lamp. Both Qin Chuan and the lamp vanish just as Er Meng opens the door.
Princess Yan Yan is now a little girl. She wakes up crying because of a nightmare. She dreamt of an old gentleman saying she is Qin Chuan.
Yan Yan’s maid is Cui Ya but she keeps calling her Ah Man. She also has vague recollections of certain things. She dreams of a man telling her that she is fast forgetting him but she couldn’t remember who he is.
Er Meng is going to marry Yan Yan. His wedding gifts include a painting of a man in white. Yan Yan cries when she sees the painting. She then vanishes into it.
Yan Yan then appears in the familiar Gong Zi Qi’s immersive painting. Jiu Yun is waiting for her and calls her Qin Chuan. She runs to him and they hug.
