Below is the episode summary for Dance Of The Phoenix (且听凤鸣). I understand that it is adapted from a novel and I’m watching this with trepidation. This is because adaptations from fantasy-like novels set in ancient times tend to be confusing if not done with care. But let’s see how this one goes. With only 30 episodes in total, it should not take too long to finish. I can then do the Dance Of The Phoenix review too to detail out my impression on this drama.

Episode 1

Life begins on Qianyuan Continent and the people are into cultivation. The Penglai Pavilion in the North and Celestial Palace in the South regard Junwu Academy in the capital as the leader. But the Darknight Court in the West is a deviant sect. 30 years ago, demonic beasts wrecked havoc on the continent. The most powerful cultivator, Mu Jiu Zhou, led all the sects to suppress them and set up a barrier. The Junwu Clan was then tasked to manage that barrier and protect the mortals. Lord Mu disappeared after the battle when he met with an accident in his ascend to immortality.

At about the same time, Feng Wu was born and she was the second person to possess the phoenix blood after Lord Mu. 12 years later, she found a spirit ring in which Lord Mu’s spirit resided after failing to ascend to immortality. He became Feng Wu’s master but requested her to keep it a secret. Feng Wu’s cultivation skills invite a lot of jealousy. Zuo Qing Yun of the Celestial Palace ambushed her and removed her phoenix blood. She pushed her down a cliff to kill her.

Feng Wu was saved by her master but lost her cultivation and memory. Her master gave her his phoenix blood to keep her alive but advised her to take the Spirit Restoration Pill made of the Celestial Fruit to regain her memory and restart her cultivation. Without her powers, her family banished her to the border. The barrier cracked while the star representing Lord Mu disappeared.

3 Years Later

Feng Wu is peddling drugs in a border town. Jun Lin Yuan is the Crown Prince of the Junwu Clan. He is after the Celestial Fruit in the Frozen Forest which appears once every 60 years. His father hopes to get the fruit to increase his powers so that the demons could be kept in check. Lin Yuan is helped by Xuan Yi who is a fellow clan member and Feng Xun of Penglai Pavilion. They defeat the Darknight Court’s soldiers who are also after the fruit.

Feng Wu finds out from Old Man Ba, a medicine man, where the Celestial Fruit is. But the Frozen Forest is full of demonic beasts. She decides to go to Yunlai Tavern to try to join a group of cultivators for her mission. Feng Wu and her servant, Qiu Ling, camouflaged themselves and arrive at the tavern. They interacted with Mu Yao and Qing Yun after a beggar is poisoned. Mu Yao has given him food that arrived at her table out of pity. Feng Wu uses her medical skills to cure the beggar but it is a method used by Lord Mu which arouses Qing Yun’s suspicion.

Feng Wu cannot remember Qing Yun. She was also engaged to Lin Yuan in the past but the engagement was cancelled after she lost her cultivation. The people from the Celestial Palace are there to help Lin Yuan to get the Celestial Fruit. The Firecloud Giant Hawk then makes an appearance. The people scatter. Mu Yao and Qing Yun try to fight it off. The hawk seems to be able to sense Feng Wu’s spirit ring in which her master resides. It shoots a cloud of fire at Feng Wu. Lin Yuan appears to knock the fire away. Feng Wu is mesmerized.

Episode 2

Lin Yuan, Xuan Yi, and Feng Xun together with Mu Yao and Qing Yun try to defeat the Firecloud Giant Hawk. But the hawk zooms in on Feng Wu and carries her off. Li Yuan gives chase. Qing Yun wants to go to Jingzhou to tame the Hundred Poison Beast. Mu Yao knows she just wants to go there to look for Zhao Ge. They split up as the rest will look for Lin Yuan.

Feng Wu drops herself onto a ledge. The hawk is scaring her. Lin Yuan appears but drops his sword down the cliff due to Feng Wu’s clumsiness. As they are forced to the edge, Feng Wu also falls off the cliff. Lin Yuan jumps after her and they land in a pond. Feng Wu saves Lin Yuan as he can’t swim. When he awakes, they start arguing with each other. But she still clings to him because they are stuck in the dangerous Frozen Forest and she knows he is also looking for the Celestial Fruit.

When Lin Yuan leaves her to retrieve his sword, Feng Wu bumps into Feng Xun who immediately takes a liking for her. She helps him with his pricked finger while his drop of blood with cultivation essence helps her to keep warm. Lin Yuan sees a plant that could warm up Feng Wu when mixes it with a drop of his blood. But by the time he reunites with her, he keeps quiet about it as Feng Xun has made her warm. Xuan Yi and Mu Yao also arrive and together, they take shelter for the night. Feng Wu introduces herself as Feng Xiao Wu.

Engagement Not Cancelled

Yu Ming Ye is the Young Master of Darknight Court. He is ordered by the Lord Demon to get the Celestial Fruit before Lin Yuan. Ming Ye couldn’t defeat the Firecloud Giant Hawk which guards the Celestial Fruit. Many of his soldiers are injured but he refuses to wait for reinforcements. He wants to plough ahead to get the fruit.

Mu Yao doesn’t like Feng Wu for following Lin Yuan around. She keeps promoting her senior, Qing Yun who has since renamed herself Qing Luan, as a capable cultivator. Feng Wu learns that Lin Yuan didn’t cancel their engagement and it is a rumor. Feng Xun relates that he fought with Lin Yuan over who has the right to marry Feng Wu when they were kids. In the end, Feng Wu wanted to marry Lin Yuan when she unknowingly made him eat the Loveless Insect Venom pill which might make him suffer when it comes to love. Mu Yao encourages Lin Yuan to look for another wife since Feng Wu is now a good-for-nothing person.

While collecting branches to make a fire, Mu Yao purposely falls down and blames Feng Wu for pushing her.

Episode 3

Mu Yao pretends that her ankle is sprained. Feng Wu offers to massage it for her but inflicts pain to get back at Mu Yao. Lin Yuan warns her not to be so willful but is also beginning to get attracted to her. His Loveless Insect Venom causes his heart to ache when Feng Wu bandages his finger. Lin Yuan abruptly leaves. The venom will activate whenever he experiences real affections. He can only be cured when a woman truly loves him and risks her life for him.

Feng Xun complains to Feng Wu of being neglected because every woman only has eyes on Lin Yuan. But Feng Wu assures him that it is not true because everyone has their unique strengths. Ming Ye detects Lin Yuan nearby. He asks his underlings to go ahead without him. Lin Yuan sneakily flicks a Tipsy pill into Ming Ye’s mouth to make him lose his powers for 12 hours. He ties him up and hangs him upside down on a tree branch. Feng Wu stumbles onto Ming Ye while looking for Lin Yuan. She frees him out of kindness. Ming Ye is half-conscious and can only catch her scent and back.

Lin Yuan tells the rest about his encounter with Ming Ye. Feng Xun advises Feng Wu to run if she sees Ming Ye as he is wicked. Both Ming Ye and Lin Yuan have been rivals since childhood. As they continue their journey, they run into evil spirits in a very foggy environment. Feng Wu seems to be missing. They battle the evil spirits and get split up. Feng Wu then bumps into Lin Yuan and both of them fall onto the ground with her lips on his.

Feng Wu’s Dream

As they walk together, she talks about the Celestial Fruit. She guesses right that Lin Yuan is not keen to fight for the fruit but is under orders by the King. Qing Luan arrive in Jingzhou to hear the villagers talk about a clumsy female cultivator. She suspects that might be Zhao Ge. Feng Wu gets Lin Yuan to sing to lighten the eerie atmosphere. Evil spirits appear. Lin Yuan erects a shield to protect Feng Wu but he himself gets enchanted by the spirits and faints. The spirits then surround Feng Wu but the Firecloud Giant Hawk saves her. It then transforms into a spirit and moves into her spirit ring.

Feng Xun, Xuan Yi, and Mu Yao catch up with them. They take a rest as they wait for Lin Yuan to awaken. Ming Ye gets back his powers and catches up with his soldiers. Feng Wu falls asleep and dreams of her master sleeping. The hawk is Lord Mu’s animal spirit and will help Feng Wu to obtain the Celestial Fruit. Ultimately, she must wake her master up. Only Lord Mu can resolve the crisis as the barrier with the demonic beasts is cracking.

Feng Wu awakes and notices a tear on Lin Yuan’s robe. She sews it back for him but is annoyed when he doesn’t seem to appreciate her effort. They carry on with their journey and enter the Firecloud Cave. At the same time, Ming Ye also appears from another entrance. They all notice the hawk and the Celestial Fruit.

Episode 4

Lin Yuan, Feng Xun, and Xuan Yi battle with the Firecloud Giant Hawk. Mu Yao is told to stay back to protect Feng Wu. Ming Ye hides in the shadows to wait for Lin Yuan to defeat the hawk. Mu Yao purposely pushes Feng Wu out of their hiding place. Feng Wu takes the opportunity to ask Feng Xun to distract the hawk while she goes to retrieve the Celestial Fruit. Ming Ye is also interested to snatch away Feng Wu from Lin Yuan as he thinks she might be someone important to him.

After Feng Wu grabs the fruit, the hawk wants to fly out of the cave. Ming Ye uses his cultivation to make boulders fall from the cave top to stop the hawk from exiting. The hawk transforms into spirit form and moves into Feng Wu’s spirit ring during the commotion. Feng Wu also drops the fruit. Lin Yuan uses his power to stop a boulder from crashing down on Feng Wu. Ming Ye appears with his men. He takes Feng Wu hostage to force Lin Yuan to give him the fruit. Lin Yuan refuses and tells Ming Ye that Feng Wu is a nobody to him. He has to control his venom from fully activating.

Feng Wu Gets The Fruit

After Ming Ye takes Feng Wu away, Lin Yuan feels uneasy. Feng Wu tricks Ming Ye with a sob story that she was captured by Lin Yuan to be offered as a tribute to the hawk. She offers to help him to get the Celestial Fruit. Feng Wu then tricks Lin Yuan with a message that leads the 3 men to meet Ming Ye and leaving Mu Yao behind with the fruit. Feng Wu then makes Mu Yao unconscious and escapes with it.

Both Ming Ye and Lin Yuan realize that they have been tricked when Ming Ye recounts the sob story Feng Wu told him. They are now separately after Feng Wu. But to prevent suspicion in Border City, Feng Xun suggests that they seek help from Lin Yuan’s fiancee. They are still clueless that Feng Wu and Xiao Wu are the same person. Mu Yao splits up with them to look for Qing Luan in Jingzhou.

Feng Wu brings the Celestial Fruit to Old Man Ba. It will take 3 days for the pill to be ready. Feng Wu goes back home and notices her cousins, Feng Liu and Feng Yi Ran, harassing her mother to give them the Phoenix Sword. The Feng patriarch has passed away and the sword could cement Yi Ran’s position as the next family head. Feng Wu goes back to her usual look and makes Yi Ran salivates over her beauty. She deceives him that the sword could be buried in one of the many flowerbeds around the house compound. Ming Ye is also in Border City to look for Feng Wu.

Episode 5

Lin Yuan, Feng Xun, and Xuan Yi arrive at Border City. They ask Lord Bi who governs the city to look for Feng Xiao Wu. In the meantime, Feng Wu further tricks Yi Ran with a poem riddle of where the Phoenix Sword could be hidden. Mu Yao tells Qing Luan to return to Border City as Lin Yuan is meeting with Feng Wu. But Qing Luan wants to find Zhao Ge first.

Lin Yuan arrives at Feng Wu’s house with his 2 friends. Feng Wu tries to evade them but fails. She then pretends to be a demure and timid lady. The 3 men mistakenly believes she couldn’t possibly help them to look for Xiao Wu until they hear from the locals that she actually has a different personality. They also find out about Old Man Ba and pays him a visit only to see Feng Wu is there as well. Feng Wu puts up another sob story about learning medical skills from Old Man Ba to earn a living as the Feng family refuses to support them. Lin Yuan then decides to stay overnight at the Feng Mansion. Ming Ye is paying beggars to look for Xiao Wu.

Lin Yuan Suspects Feng Wu

Qiu Ling shows Lin Yuan and his friends to a worn out room and hints that the Feng family has not been providing for them to upkeep the house. Yi Ran has no choice but to give them a sum of money. Feng Wu thought she could distract Lin Yuan, Feng Xun, and Xuan Yi with her great cooking but it makes them happy to continue staying at her house instead. Feng Xun finds it strange that Lin Yuan doesn’t seem angry although they have lost the Celestial Fruit.

Qiu Ling is about to play a prank on the men by releasing rats into their room. But she has no heart to do it when she hears them talking about Feng Wu and Lin Yuan seems to care about her. Ming Ye has found Old Man Ba and is threatening him to expose Feng Wu. Qing Luan has found Zhao Ge. Feng Wu tells Lin Yuan that he should move out since they are no longer engaged to each other. But Lin Yuan suspects that she is Xiao Wu. Feng Wu pretends that she doesn’t know her. Lord Bi arrives to report that Xiao Wu had been seen with Old Man Ba before.

Episode 6

Lord Bi invites Lin Yuan to his place to stay but is turned down. Lin Yuan prefers to remain in Feng Mansion. Zhao Ge says she is no longer from the Celestial Palace. But she will return to the capital as it is too dangerous for her to be roaming around with her weak cultivation. Lin Yuan receives a letter requesting him to return to the capital quickly as the King is unwell. Feng Liu thinks Lin Yuan is interested in her.

Ming Ye is running out of patience with Old Man Ba. But Lin Yuan and Feng Xun are arriving with Feng Wu. A fight breaks out. Ming Ye grabs Feng Wu to protect himself. He remarks that her scent smells familiar. Lin Yuan’s venom is activating again but he hides it. Ming Ye pushes Feng Wu off and jumps out the window to escape. Old Man Ba takes the cue from Feng Wu and tells Lin Yuan and Feng Xun some grandmother stories about Xiao Wu. Lin Yuan knows he is lying.

Qing Luan asks Feng Liu to take care of Lin Yuan and keep an eye on him for her. She will use Feng Liu to get in Feng Wu’s way for now. She will only appear when Lin Yuan needs help. Lin Yuan is experiencing chest pain again after leaving Old Man Ba. Feng Wu uses her acupuncture skills to help him recover. She learns about his Loveless Insect Venom but cannot recall the incident since she has lost her memory. Xuan Yi is reporting to his grandfather what has been happening.

Finding Xiao Wu

Ming Ye sneaks into Feng Wu’s room to ask her about Xiao Wu. He thinks she smells and looks similar to Xiao Wu but doesn’t believe that they are the same person. Feng Wu advises Ming Ye to tail Lin Yuan if he wants to know where Xiao Wu is. Ming Ye drops his pendant while getting out through the window.

Lin Yuan couldn’t be bothered to entertain Feng Liu who then quarrels with her brother over the Phoenix Sword. Now, she also wants it so that she can have the status to marry Lin Yuan. Feng Wu is out with Lin Yuan who is testing her out. He knows she is Xiao Wu. Ming Ye is tailing them and learns Lin Yuan will not be home so soon. Lin Yuan is getting suspicious that there is a spy around and it could be Feng Wu.

Feng Wu returns home to find a jealous Feng Liu threatening her with a dagger. Meanwhile, Ming Ye sneaks into Lin Yuan’s room to look for Xiao Wu as he thinks nobody would be home. But it is a trap. Lin Yuan, Feng Xun, and Xuan Yi gang up on Ming Ye who complains that it isn’t a fair fight. Lin Yuan agrees to a fair fight but if he wins, Ming Ye has to reveal who is the Darknight Court spy.

Episode 7

Lin Yuan battles with Ming Ye but his venom keeps getting activated because Feng Wu is in danger. Feng Liu is furious when Feng Wu scrapes her hand with a hairpin to protect herself. She takes out her whip to hurt Feng Wu and accuses her of hooking up with Lin Yuan. Feng Wu’s mother appears to ask Feng Liu to stop. Feng Liu goes on to destroy Feng Wu’s trays of herbs and burns them. She then snatches Feng Wu’s spirit ring necklace and throws it into the fire. Feng Wu’s mother uses her bare hands to retrieve it.

Feng Wu is angry to see her mother getting hurt and confronts Feng Liu with the dagger. Ming Ye quits the fight as he thinks Lin Yuan is looking down on him by constantly getting distracted. Lin Yuan then rushes with Feng Xun and Xuan Yi to check on Feng Wu who by now is using her hands to stop Feng Liu’s sword. Qing Luan is quietly witnessing the whole incident. Feng Wu’s blood drip onto the pestle she uses to grind her herbs. The pestle comes to life and turns into the Phoenix Sword. It automatically finds Feng Wu. She wields it and its powers forces everyone to take a step back. Feng Wu then faints.

Qing Luan appears to reprimand Feng Liu and Yi Ran for bullying the weak. Lin Yuan quietly sneaks into Feng Wu’s room to check in on her. When he leaves, he steps on a pendant which belongs to Ming Ye. He wonders what else Feng Wu might be hiding.

Qing Luan’s Pretense

The King of Junwu Clan is going into seclusion to cultivate. The Queen is about to be appointed to oversee the clan’s affairs since Lin Yuan is not in the capital when Spiritual Elder Fang turns up. He is Xuan Yi’s grandfather and the King is relieved that he could pass his duties to him instead to the Queen’s dissatisfaction.

Qing Luan warns Feng Liu not to cross the line again and to listen to her orders. Lin Yuan punishes Feng Liu and Yi Ran by reducing their cultivation powers which makes Feng Wu happy. Feng Wu thinks Qing Luan is a kind person. Qing Luan is surprised by Feng Wu’s change in personality compared to the time before she lost her memory. When she ambushed and took Feng Wu’s phoenix blood, her master who is the leader of the Celestial Palace knew about it and gave her an ice bracelet to cover the presence of the blood.

Qing Luan gives Feng Liu and Yi Ran some pills for them to regain their cultivation. Yi Ran gets the idea to marry Feng Wu off so that she will have to leave the Phoenix Sword behind and Feng Liu will also have a chance with Lin Yuan. Feng Wu doesn’t know what to do with the Phoenix Sword as she has no skills to make use of it. Qing Luan offers to teach her.

Episode 8

Qing Luan tries to teach Feng Wu a few moves but the latter can’t seem to be able to master them. Thus, Qing Luan is sure Feng Wu has lost her cultivation and memory. Qing Luan then receives an order to go to the capital to assist someone. Lin Yuan teaches Feng Wu a few moves and brings her on his flying sword which catches Ming Ye’s attention. Yi Ran tries to convince his aunt to marry off Feng Wu. Qiu Ling rushes to inform her.

Qing Luan orders Feng Liu to help Lin Yuan to get the Celestial Fruit before she leaves for the capital. But Feng Liu is more interested to make Lin Yuan hers. Ming Ye confronts Lin Yuan. Lin Yuan wants to know his relationship with Feng Wu while Ming Ye wants his pendant as well as Xiao Wu back. Lin Yuan then realizes Feng Wu has tricked Ming Ye about Xiao Wu which is why Ming Ye is always spying on him. He tells Ming Ye that Xiao Wu and Feng Wu are the same person. Ming Ye then declares that Feng Wu is his.

Feng Wu tells off Yi Ran for making her marriage decision. Feng Liu is again challenging Feng Wu and wants the Phoenix Sword if she wins. The Phoenix Sword suddenly appears in Feng Wu’s hand when she is about to get killed. Feng Liu is easily defeated with its powers before Feng Wu faints again. Lin Yuan witnesses the incident. He tells Feng Xun and Xuan Yi that Feng Wu is Xiao Wu. They will need to question her. But Feng Wu awakens and rushes to Old Man Ba when she hears them talking about her.

Feng Wu Can Cultivate Again

Feng Wu eats the Spirit Restoration Pill that contains the Celestial Fruit. Ming Ye appears followed by Lin Yuan. She tells them that she has eaten the fruit. Lin Yuan is getting jealous and angry with Ming Ye as he is unsure about their relationship. His venom is activating again. Ming Ye spirits Feng Wu out of there. He feels moved when he sees Feng Wu’s kindness towards a bullied young boy which is in contrast with the ruthless way he was brought up. They split up thereafter when Feng Wu’s spirit ring calls.

Feng Wu enters a dream and is told that her master has used his spirit energy to protect her when he sensed that she is in danger. She has regained her ability to cultivate but her ranking is currently only at a junior level. Lin Yuan and Ming Ye get into a fistfight over Feng Wu. Ming Ye tells him that he will win Feng Wu’s affections. Furthermore, Lin Yuan is vague with his feelings towards Feng Wu.

Feng Liu and Yi Ran want Feng Wu to be punished for eating the Celestial Fruit. Lin Yuan tells them that the matter is settled. Feng Wu’s mother insists on making amends. The Lord Demon sends a message to Ming Ye to leave Border City. Ming Ye is suspicious that the Lord Demon is in contact with someone influential in the Junwu Clan since he seems to know what Lin Yuan is up to. Lin Yuan uses Feng Wu’s popularity in Border City to get the people to write birthday wishes for the King to make up for the failure to get the Celestial Fruit. The King is delighted to receive so many birthday wishes.

Episode 9

The King is no longer hard-up for the Celestial Fruit with all the birthday wishes and a valuable gift from Lin Yuan. Lin Yuan buys Feng Wu a comb but denies it is for anything significant when she teases him. Yi Ran tricks Feng Wu to meet Lord Bi and his son who is interested in her. He needs to marry her off to prevent her from becoming the head of the Feng family. Lin Yuan is angry when he hears about it from Qiu Ling. He rushes to their meeting and declares that Feng Wu is his fiancee. Lord Bi scolds Yi Ran for creating such a misunderstanding.

Feng Wu quarrels with Lin Yuan when he holds her hand and drags her through a busy street. She accuses him of ruining her reputation while he disallows her from marrying anyone else. Ming Ye wants to see Feng Wu again before leaving Border City. The Queen meets Qing Luan who is teaching some villagers basic cultivation skills to protect themselves against demonic beasts. Both appear to be kind to the people.

Feng Liu comes to agitate Feng Wu again when Yi Ran gets a dressing down from Lord Bi. When she notices Lin Yuan in the background, she gets Feng Wu to say it out loud that the she (Feng Wu) has no feelings for him. Lin Yuan is unhappy to hear it. Ming Ye appears at Feng Mansion with a bunch of flowers for Feng Wu. But Qiu Ling tells him that they will only end up as ingredients for medicine. Lin Yuan also knocks them onto the floor and steps on them. He reiterates that Feng Wu is destined to be his while Ming Ye is also adamant that he will fight for her.

Sharing The Same Bed

Lin Yuan receives a letter and decides to go back to the capital. He asks Feng Wu what she thinks about life in the capital but she is clueless about his intention. Hence, she replies that there is no reason for her to leave Border City. Qiu Ling tells Feng Xun that Feng Wu only loves Lin Yuan. This makes Feng Xun heartbroken.He gets drunk and rants to Lin Yuan that Feng Wu loves him. Lin Yuan feels happy and start drinking with Feng Xun.

Feng Liu tricks Feng Wu to try a drink that she made. But it made Feng Wu drowsy. Yi Ran then lets in Lord Bi’s son who tries to force himself on Feng Wu. Lin Yuan is feeling tipsy and decides to propose to Feng Wu on Feng Xun and Xuan Yi’s goading. He goes to her room to find Lord Bi’s son there. Lin Yuan beats him up to force him to get out. He ends up hugging her on the bed to hide the venom that is activating in his palm. Before he falls unconscious from the venom, he comforts her and assures her that he will take care of her.

The next morning, they wake up sleeping next to each other. Lin Yuan says that he will take responsibility and marry her.

Episode 10

Feng Wu tells Lin Yuan that he doesn’t have to be responsible for her. She is also not keen to follow him to the capital. Hence, Lin Yuan resorts to taking her mother along to go back to the capital with him. This will force Feng Wu to go after him. Before leaving Border City with Feng Liu and Yi Ran, Feng Wu bids goodbye to Old Man Ba who gives her some pills to accelerate healing.

Feng Liu sends a message to Qing Luan that Feng Wu has regained the ability to cultivate. Qing Luan feels that she has underestimated Feng Wu. On the way back to the capital, Feng Liu and Yi Ran decide to stop at a post house to rest for the night. They meet the arrogant Madam Ning and the heavily pregnant Madam Yan who are there to pray at a nearby temple. They are the wife of the President of Junwu Academy and Great Spiritual Master Yan respectively.

However, the post house is strangely deserted and eerie. At night, Madam Yan goes into labor. Feng Wu helps her but before she could deliver the baby, a powerful demonic beast attacks the post house. Yi Ran and Feng Liu couldn’t match its strength. Feng Wu decides to go out to try and stop the beast. Otherwise, they will all be dead. The 3 of them combine their forces but still couldn’t defeat it. Their clash rings through the sky. Lin Yuan’s group is nearby and he rushes to check things out.

Feng Wu Kisses Lin Yuan

The beast wants to enter the room where Madam Yan is. Feng Wu becomes furious and ascends to a higher rank at the critical moment. As she battles it out with the beast, Feng Liu and Yi Ran selfishly think of escape. The beast flings them to the ground. Lin Yuan appears to help Feng Wu who could then go back to attend to Madam Yan. The beast has with it the Wanyou Fire which is a valuable treasure.

Feng Wu helps Madam Yan to safely deliver her baby. When the beast aims for the room, Lin Yuan’s venom is activated as he senses Feng Wu would be in danger. Feng Wu suddenly appears from the room and struck the beast with her Phoenix Sword. Lin Yuan shields her when the beast wants to hit her in a last ditch attempt. He takes the blow for her. The beast disintegrates and its Wanyou Fire is sucked into Lin Yuan’s body.

Feng Wu is crying as she hugs an unconscious Lin Yuan. Her tears drop onto his palm and the venom is suppressed. Lin Yuan awakens. Ming Ye is in the capital and spying on the Junwu Academy. He sees Qing Luan entering the palace. She is there to meet the Queen who is also her master’s disciple sister. The Queen feels that she could make use of Qing Luan’s talents. Ming Ye also notices the Lord Demon stealthily entering the palace. The Lord Demon is meeting the Queen.

Feng Wu lightly kisses the sleeping Lin Yuan. The bird in Feng Wu’s spirit ring asks her to get the Wanyou Fire from Lin Yuan. This will enable it to get in and out of the spirit ring freely. She is told to suck it out of Lin Yuan.

Episode 11

Feng Wu becomes too eager to kiss Lin Yuan who is wary of what she is up to. So, he avoids all her attempts to kiss. Feng Xun and Xuan Yi send Feng Wu’s mother back to the Feng family after arriving at the capital. Feng Wu finds Lin Yuan’s venom seems to have disappeared and tries to kiss him again. Lin Yuan shoos her out of his room.

Finally, Lin Yuan forces Feng Wu to tell him her real intentions. Feng Wu gives the excuse that she needs to improve her cultivation with the help of the Wanyou Fire in his body after having lost her phoenix blood. Lin Yuan then grabs and kisses her. Xuan Yi bumps into Zhao Ge. He finds her too kind to the point of being bullied. Qing Luan orders Mu Yao to ask Feng Liu to keep monitoring Feng Wu. She is scheming to be Lin Yuan’s wife as she wants the Spiritual Princess title.

Feng Wu arrives at the Feng family’s home. She doesn’t give face to Mrs. Feng who is Yi Ran and Feng Liu’s mother. Feng Wu declares that she has no interest to be the head of the Feng family. But she embarrasses Mrs. Feng when the Phoenix Sword wouldn’t let her servant to pick it up. Mrs. Feng then wants Yi Ran to enroll in the Junwu Academy. Ming Ye also wants to do the same to get information on the Junwu Clan.

Feng Wu Meets Zhao Ge

Feng Wu’s mother lets her know that Lin Yuan didn’t force her to the capital. She made that decision as she feels it is destined that Feng Wu is the master of the Phoenix Sword which belonged to her father. The Queen is trying to pressure Lin Yuan to get married and recommends Qing Luan as a suitable candidate. But Lin Yuan resists the idea and says that he has his own plans.

Feng Wu reunites with Zhao Ge when she saves her from a bunch of bullies. Qiu Ling relates to Feng Wu what happened in the past. Feng Wu and Zhao Ge used to be good friends. But Zhao Ge becomes fat and always hungry after eating some poisoned cakes in Feng Wu’s room. She is then unwanted by her family in the Celestial Palace. Qing Luan mentions about Zhao Ge’s condition to the Queen. What Zhao Ge had consumed is a rare poison. Zhao Ge tells Feng Wu that there is a treasure in the Peerless Tower which can cure her. However, nobody has managed to defeat the guards to get the tower’s treasures.

Episode 12

The Queen suggests that Qing Luan tries her luck at the Peerless Tower to get Zhao Ge’s detoxification pill. However, it carries a big risk because a challenger can lose all their cultivation if they fail. Feng Wu is looking at the Peerless Tower when Lin Yuan drags her away. He tells her it is not a place for a medium-ranked cultivator like her. Lin Yuan wants to build her a house so that she can move out from the Feng Mansion. But she rejects his offer and feels that their relationship is moving too fast. Lin Yuan is frustrated with her hot and cold attitude towards him.

Feng Wu can only get limited information about the challenges in the Peerless Tower. The last challenge is unknown as none has succeeded. She plans to ask Lin Yuan but changes her mind when she gets angry over his request for her to enroll in Junwu Academy. Lin Yuan wants her to ascend to a higher-ranked cultivator soon because it is a rule that the Spiritual Princess must have a certain standing. But Lin Yuan doesn’t like the idea that she is unworthy of him and the feeling of being controlled.

Feng Wu Enters Peerless Tower

After leaving the meeting with Lin Yuan, Feng Wu bumps into Ming Ye. Feng Xun notices them together. Ming Ye gives her tips to help her cope with the challenges in the tower. When Feng Wu enters Peerless Tower a few days later, she manages to go all the way to the last challenge after much danger. Her mother, Qiu Ling, and Zhao Ge are waiting anxiously outside. Qing Luan also comes by to observe the outcome.

Feng Xun informs Lin Yuan what Feng Wu has done and her meeting with Ming Ye. Lin Yuan tries to find out from Min Zhong Qing who is the last known person to have succeeded in the Peerless Tower challenge. However, it turns out that there is no last challenge as the owner has no intention of letting people win. He only took the valuables offered and got out of the tower.

When Feng Wu arrives at the last challenge, the owner offers her valuables to leave. But she demands for the detoxification pill. The tower owner then entraps her in the Heart-Eroding Maze.

Episode 13

The swordsman Feng Wu defeated in the previous level helps her to fend off the Peerless Tower owner until Lin Yuan appears. Lin Yuan saves her and she manages to get the detoxification pill and the Qinglingsan Score which is a valuable copy of some music notes. Lin Yuan and Feng Wu clears their misunderstanding. She tells him that she didn’t take the challenge to increase her rank to be worthy of him but to help Zhao Ge. Zhao Ge is moved by Feng Wu’s effort. Qing Luan quietly leaves after Feng Wu appears from the tower.

Ming Ye is ordered by the Lord Demon to break into Master Yan’s home. Spiritual Elder Fang fights him off and injures his shoulder. Feng Wu thanks Lin Yuan for helping her. She knows she can’t blame him for wanting her to improve. Lin Yuan hugs her and tells her that he doesn’t care about their backgrounds. Ming Ye sees them hugging and is unhappy. He goes to a tavern to drink and meets Qing Luan who is also feeling miserable. They end up drinking together.

Zhao Ge is back to her slim self. Ming Ye secretly drops by Feng Mansion to visit Feng Wu. He says that he misses her. Feng Wu makes him think if he should agree with the approach the Darknight Court takes. But Ming Ye replies that the grew up with it and hence, it is a part of him. Feng Wu gives him the Qinglingshan Score which is useless to her since she is not into music. Later, the bird spirit tells Feng Wu to get close to Ming Ye because he has traces of the Star Shard spirit essence on him. They need the Star Shard to wake up Lord Mu.

Stealing The Water Sky Vase

Xuan Yi reports to Lin Yuan that Ming Ye is after the Water Sky Vase when he broke into the Great Spiritual Master Yan’s home. The vase would make a valuable gift to Master Wu You Dao who is Dean Ning’s friend. Dean Ning is from the Junwu Academy and Master Wu has been invited to be the supervisor. But Master Wu is not a member of any sect and has been cultivating on his own. He has strong powers and the Lord Demon wants to learn how he does it. Master Wu would be able to help the Darknight Court if they can get him on their side.

Lin Yuan wants to stop Ming Ye. Feng Xun is tasked to tail Ming Ye but lost his trail. He bumps into Feng Wu who learns from him what Ming Ye is up to. Feng Liu is kidnapped. A gathering is being held to celebrate the birth of Master Yan’s child. Ming Ye meets Feng Wu and they cooperate to distract the guards to enter the treasure room. Lin Yuan is also there and requests to see the vase. Everything seems fine in the treasure room but the real vase is actually hidden in a secret chamber inside the room. Lin Yuan sees Feng Wu’s pouch on the floor and quickly picks it up and hides it. He then volunteers to go inside the secret chamber when Master Yan discovers that it has been breached.

Episode 14

Lin Yuan enters the secret chamber to investigate. Feng Xun rushes to save Feng Liu who has been kidnapped. But it is merely a prank that Ming Ye has played on her for bullying Feng Wu.

Lin Yuan catches Feng Wu with Ming Ye. They are looking at the Water Sky Vase. The bird spirit tells Feng Wu that the Star Shard is at the bottom of the vase and she will need to get it. Through Feng Wu’s conversation with Ming Ye, Lin Yuan gets to know that there is nothing between them. But she has still given the Qinglingshan Score to him for his birthday.

Then, Lin Yuan appears and they start fighting. They know each other’s intention is to secure Master Wu’s support. Lin Yuan offers Ming Ye an exit out of the chamber through a secret pathway and avoid all the cultivators outside. Ming Ye decides to leave empty handed. Feng Wu tells Lin Yuan not to misunderstand her relationship with Ming Ye. Lin Yuan tells her that he is angry because she chooses not to come to him when she needs help. Feng Wu also leaves through the secret pathway while Lin Yuan purposely creates a big mess to pretend that the thief has escaped but without the vase.

Feng Wu and Lin Yuan get back to the birth celebration. She learns that Madam Yan and her husband are having a rift because of rumors that the baby is not his. The excuse is the baby does not possess the spirit energy which should be inherited from the father. Feng Wu invites Lin Yuan to assist her in opening up the baby’s chakras and meridian points. The baby’s spirit energy becomes visible.

Lin Yuan Gets The Vase

The Lord Demon punishes Ming Ye for failing to get the vase again. Master Yan rewards Lin Yuan with the Water Sky Vase for resolving his doubt about his baby’s paternity. Lin Yuan is willing to give Feng Wu the vase if she passes Junwu Academy’s enrollment test. He also wants a gift for his birthday as he is jealous that Ming Ye has received one from her.

Qing Luan wants Zhao Ge to move out of Feng Mansion and live with her. But Zhao Ge doesn’t want to have anything to do with Celestial Palace anymore as she is disappointed with the way they have treated her in the past. The Queen wants her nephew, Gao Wei, to gain Master Wu’s support. She will get Qing Luan to help out. The Queen also wants to stop Feng Wu from becoming a senior cultivator as that will make her eligible to be Lin Yuan’s Spiritual Princess. She advises Qing Luan to try to learn from Master Wu so that she can widen the gap between Feng Wu and herself to secure her position.

Feng Wu bakes Lin Yuan some cakes to celebrate his birthday. He reveals that his birthday is not a happy occasion as his mother died during childbirth. Feng Wu offers him some comforting words. Later, she sends home a drunk Lin Yuan. Feng Wu tries to use her wiles to get him to give her the vase the next morning. But he still asks her to pass the Junwu Academy’s enrollment exam first.

Episode 15

Feng Wu is in a bad mood because of Lin Yuan’s insistence that she takes the Junwu Academy’s enrollment exam. Qiu Ling suggests to Zhao Ge that they bring Feng Wu to the bazaar to cheer her up. Xuan Yi drops by as he wants Feng Wu to draw up a chart of acupoints and meridian points for his grandfather. He meets Zhao Ge and she is smitten by him. Qiu Ling invites him to go to the bazaar together.

The Queen wants Qing Luan to try to get Master Wu to accept her as a disciple. They are on the way to receive him personally. While at the bazaar, Zhao Ge buys Xuan Yi a lucky stone. Suddenly, a horse has gone uncontrollable and running through the streets. A child is in danger of being crushed by a falling adult. Feng Wu rushes to shield the child without thinking. Master Wu uses his power to save the child as well as stop the horse.

Master Wu reports to the palace. The Queen invites him for a discussion but he declines. After leaving the hall, Lin Yuan wants to approach him but is stopped by Spiritual Elder Fang. They witness Qing Luan approaching Master Wu. She requests to be his disciple but is rejected outright. Spiritual Elder Fang advises Lin Yuan that Master Wu is not someone who likes being pushed.

Feng Wu finds Master Wu familiar. She wonders if Master Wu and Lord Mu know each other because their moves seem similar. She then learns that Junwu Academy is founded by Lord Mu. Lin Yuan tries to convince Feng Wu to sit for the Junwu Academy’s exam again by tempting her with learning under Master Wu. He brings her piles of books for her to study.

Attack On Master Wu

Ming Ye informs Feng Wu that Master Wu, Spiritual Elder Fang, and Old Man Ba are actually old friends. But Master Wu and Spiritual Elder Wang are always fighting with each other like kids. Using the information, Feng Wu passes the acupoints and meridian points chart to Master Wu and charms him with Old Man Ba’s gossips about him. Then, she tells Spiritual Elder Fang that Master Wu has taken the chart. The 2 men then end up having a friendly fight as Feng Wu watches and learns their skills.

Xuan Yi encourages Zhao Ge to study and promises to grant her a wish if she passes the Junwu Academy exam. Master Wu again turns down the Queen’s invitation to dinner. The Queen is angry. If she can’t have Master Wu’s support, she wants to ensure that Lin Yuan won’t get it either. Gao Wei gets the order to kill Master Wu. He weakens him with poisonous fumes before launching an ambush. Master Wu escapes to the streets. Gao Wei continues to pursue him with his soldiers and shoots his leg with a Darknight Court weapon. Lin Yuan and Xuan Yi happen to be nearby and save Master Wu.

While Master Wu is grateful to Lin Yuan, he tells him that he has no interest to join any side since he is already old and doesn’t want to invite trouble. However, he knows the Queen is behind this attack on his life.

Episode 16

Feng Wu and Zhao Ge attend the Junwu Academy entrance exam. They are belittled by Mu Yao. Feng Wu makes a bet with her that if she wins, Mu Yao will have to call her with an honorific title of “Father”. If she loses, she promises not to step into the capital again. All the candidates have to sit for a written exam followed by a test on their cultivation base. For the second test, the candidates are paired up randomly and they will have to fight each other. The winner will be the one who manages to snatch their opponent’s bell.

Zhao Ge manages to defeat Huang Li from the Celestial Palace. She uses an unconventional weapon of a slingshot and candied fruits. Feng Wu has encouraged her to use it as Zhao Ge has poor sword-fighting skills. Throwing candied fruits was Zhao Ge’s idea of fun when she was always eating in the past. Ming Ye and Xuan Yi also defeat their opponents easily.

Feng Wu’s Phoenix Blood

Feng Wu is paired with Mu Yao who has been told by Qing Luan that she has to win. Mu Yao suggests that they fight without swords which increases her advantage. She keeps inflicting injuries on Feng Wu who refuses to admit defeat. Mu Yao seems more interested in taking Feng Wu’s life than snatching her bell to win. Feng Wu passes out from the continuous onslaught before suddenly rising to unleash all her powers. Master Wu witnesses Feng Wu’s spirit energy getting aroused and rushes to block Mu Yao from getting killed. He senses the phoenix blood in Feng Wu’s attack.

Feng Wu faints after unleashing her powers and sleeps for 3 days. When the results are out, both Feng Wu and Zhao Ge manage to make the cut. Zhao Ge asks Xuan Yi to fulfill the wish he promised her. She wants him to allow her to address him as Brother Yi. While Xuan Yi is happy and concerned about her, he still pretends to be cold and unaffected.

The Queen orders Gao Wei to investigate Feng Wu’s background after Master Wu personally recommends Feng Wu to be shortlisted. She wants to know if Feng Wu is related to the existence of Lord Mu’s soul. The Lord Demon has also found Lord Mu’s star to be twinkling again. The Queen wants to ensure Feng Wu doesn’t become the Spiritual Princess if she has great capability. The students begin their learning at Junwu Academy. Feng Wu reminds Lin Yuan about her reward.

Episode 17

Feng Wu demands Mu Yao to call her “Father” since the latter has lost the bet. Qing Luan tries to ask Lin Yuan to intercede but he declines by giving the excuse that he doesn’t want to get involved. Mu Yao feels humiliated as she has to do what Feng Wu demands. Feng Wu falls asleep during class which annoys Lin Yuan. During the break, Lin Yuan gives Feng Wu the Water Sky Vase as promised. She enters the dream and the bird breaks the vase to reveal the Star Shard. The next piece is hidden in Junwu Academy.

Zhao Ge offers some steam buns to Xuan Yi. Feng Xun grabs one and complains that it is too salty. She feels embarrassed about her poor cooking skills. Xuan Yi is irritated with Feng Xun for being insensitive. Feng Wu tries to comfort Zhao Ge who understands that Xuan Yi is a nice guy but just does not know how to express his feelings. Zhao Ge tells Feng Wu that Lin Yuan is also the same as he only appears indifferent but is actually very caring in private.

Qing Luan sees Lin Yuan bringing cakes for Feng Wu and kissing her on the forehead. Feng Wu promises him that she will study hard so that she can fight alongside him. Master Wu overhears Mu Yao complaining about Feng Wu to Qing Luan. She accuses Feng Wu of enchanting Lin Yuan.

Library Pavilion

The Lord Demon asks Ming Ye to continue to look for clues in Junwu Academy. Someone is trying to wake Lord Mu up and the person who has the most similar practice to Lord Mu is Master Wu. Mu Yao frames Feng Wu for taking the teacher’s ruler to get her punished. Ming Ye tries to get into the Library Pavilion but Master Wu prevents him. Master Wu warns that not everyone is qualified to read the sacred writings in there.

When Ming Ye bumps into Qing Luan after leaving the Library Pavilion, she tells him not to create trouble. She will act if he harms the innocent. Ming Ye replies that neither should she put on a pretense of being altruistic. Qing Luan knows his weakness is Feng Wu but Ming Ye is confident that she would have her weakness too.

Feng Wu tells Zhao Ge that she would not allow herself to be bullied by Mu Yao. She will fight back. Zhao Ge uses Feng Wu’s words as a motivation to improve her cooking skills instead. But her cooking still tastes horrible to Xuan Yi and Feng Xun who find an excuse to avoid eating. The Queen is bringing up Lin Yuan’s marriage again. The King agrees to let her arrange it but Lin Yuan resists the idea. He is severely punished by lightning strikes for disobedience. Ming Ye reports to Lord Demon that Master Wu is tightly guarding the Library Pavilion.

Episode 18

Master Wu brings Feng Wu to the Library Pavilion. He tells her that they could be connected in some way and the library may contain the thing that she is looking for. Master Wu gives her the key to the library but wants her to keep it a secret even from Lin Yuan. He reminds her not to get distracted as she needs to fulfill her mission. Furthermore, Feng Wu and Lin Yuan’s relationship will be full of mishaps because she is not who she appears to be.

Qing Luan still treats Zhao Ge as a disciple sister but the latter keeps trying to play down her association with the Celestial Palace. Lin Yuan keeps looking for Feng Wu who is in the library. Ming Ye turns up to do his investigation and meets Feng Wu who claims she is there to study. Lin Yuan sees them walking back together. When she returns to her room, Zhao Ge informs her that Lin Yuan has been looking for her.

Feng Wu is in the dream again and the bird also reminds her of her purpose. The next day, she starts to act cold towards Lin Yuan. The Queen’s birthday is coming and 2 students will be selected to perform the Double Swordmanship. The male pick would be Lin Yuan while the Queen wants Qing Luan to be the female performer. Feng Xun tells Feng Wu that she should join the selection. But she insists that she is not keen.

Mu Yao Hurts Zhao Ge

Lin Yuan suggests that the female performer be selected via a competition to be fair. But he is unsure why Feng Wu has been cold towards him. Xuan Yi advises him to just ask Feng Wu directly. Zhao Ge also advises Feng Wu to compete to be the performer so that no one would be able to say that she is unworthy of Lin Yuan if she wins. But Feng Wu replies that she doesn’t care. Lin Yuan is disappointed when he overhears their conversation.

Qing Luan tries to transfer Feng Wu’s phoenix blood from her ice bracelet into her body but is unsuccessful. She just wants what Feng Wu has. Mu Yao is jealous of Zhao Ge as Qing Luan is always partial towards her. She provokes Zhao Ge and causes her to be seriously injured. Xuan Yi is furious and warns Mu Yao.

Ming Ye invites Feng Wu to go fishing. Lin Yuan is witnessing the exchange. Feng Wu turns Ming Ye down but when Lin Yuan appears, she changes her mind. Just then, Feng Xun brings news that Zhao Ge is injured. Mu Yao will be confined for a week as punishment. The light punishment spurs Feng Wu to want to compete with Qing Luan to be the Double Swordmanship performer. She can’t stand it that they have been bullying Zhao Ge. Feng Wu doesn’t want the Celestial Palace members to be proud and have their way.

Later, Feng Wu begins to regret her impulsiveness. Lin Yuan brings her to his secret sanctuary and teaches her his sword skills. Qing Luan visits the confined Mu Yao and slaps her for harming Zhao Ge. She always have a soft spot for Zhao Ge because the latter had been kind to her when they were kids.

Episode 19

Qing Luan advises Mu Yao to reflect on her behavior. Although Mu Yao admits her mistake, she still questions why she means leans to Qing Luan compared to Zhao Ge. Xuan Yi takes care of Zhao Ge and feels pained to see her suffer. Lin Yuan continues to train Feng Wu.

When Zhao Ge awakes, she tells Xuan Yi that she wants to go to see the match between Feng Wu and Qing Luan. However, Xuan Yi wants her to stay at home to recuperate. Qing Luan is at the door and listens in to their conversation. Although Zhao Ge feels torn, she still wants Feng Wu to win as she thinks that the victory would mean more to Feng Wu than Qing Luan. Qing Luan is disappointed and feels even more hatred towards Feng Wu.

During the contest, Feng Wu is able to match Qing Luan’s skills with the sword techniques Lin Yuan had taught her. Qing Luan then summons all her cultivation powers to defeat Feng Wu once and for all. Her ice bracelet also tingles. The bird spirit in Feng Wu’s spirit ring rises and neutralizes Qing Luan’s attack. It also tells Feng Wu that Qing Luan has her phoenix blood. In a final move, Feng Wu manages to defeat Qing Luan.

When Qing Luan leaves the stage, Feng Wu accuses her of having the phoenix blood in her ice bracelet. The Queen arrives to claim that she is the one who has given the bracelet to Qing Luan. Feng Wu is angry that nobody seems to believe her. Ming Ye mocks Lin Yuan for being unable to do anything since he can’t question the Queen. Lin Yuan asks Xuan Yi and Feng Xun to investigate.

The King Makes His Decision

The Queen tells Qing Luan that not everyone can absorb phoenix blood. But since the bracelet is now supposed to be a gift from her, Qing Luan will have to keep it well. As long as Feng Wu doesn’t get back her phoenix blood, she won’t be able to be the Spiritual Princess. Qing Luan’s master is in the capital to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. She is not satisfied with her disciple’s performance but the consolation is the Queen has yet to give up on Qing Luan either.

Lin Yuan assures Feng Wu that he trusts her but needs time to investigate. He promises to be with her forever to accompany her through her troubles. During the Queen’s birthday, Lin Yuan and Feng Wu perform the Double Swordmanship. The King finds her talented and learns of her identity. Then, the Queen signals to Qing Luan to step forward to present her gift. The Queen takes the opportunity to influence the King that Qing Luan is the most suitable candidate to be the Spiritual Princess.

The King is about to give his assent when Lin Yuan steps forward with Feng Wu. Lin Yuan declares that he already has Feng Wu in mind as his marriage partner. The King is furious and throws some items at Lin Yuan. The picture book that Feng Wu had gifted Lin Yuan for his birthday falls to the floor. The King picks it up and sees that it contains a picture story of Lin Yuan’s mother with her young son. When the King learns that it was drawn by Feng Wu, he declares Feng Wu would be the Spiritual Princess if she can recover her phoenix blood.

Episode 20

Zhao Ge feels pity for Qing Luan as she knows her master will reprimand her for losing to Feng Wu. That is the kind of pressure Qing Luan faces ever since they were young. The Queen still thinks Qing Luan will make a valuable subordinate because of her determination to win at all cost. Lin Yuan is quietly gleeful that he has managed to secure approval to have Feng Wu as the Spiritual Princess.

Ming Ye is observing Master Wu and suspicious of his behavior. Other students think Ming Ye is sneaky for being from the Darknight Court. The bird spirit informs Feng Wu that something big will happen soon. It senses a bad omen and reminds Feng Wu to be careful. Qing Luan is in a bad mood as she practices her martial art moves. Ming Ye warns her not to harm Feng Wu.

Zhao Ge offers Xuan Yi the cakes that she has made. He appears angry that her cultivation is so low that she is easily beaten up by others. But Zhao Ge knows that it is his way of showing concern. For the Lantern Festival, Zhao Ge tells Feng Wu to write a love letter to the one that she loves and asks him for a date. However, Feng Wu finds it hard to be mushy. Ming Ye is feeling miserable when the Lord Demon shows up. He claims that he doesn’t like it when people slander the Darknight Court. The Lord Demon’s approach is to have real power and absolute control so that others will have no guts to slander them. His idea of not caring about others’ opinions makes Ming Ye uncomfortable.

The King Is Poisoned

Feng Wu sees so many love letters for Lin Yuan and decides to withhold hers. Feng Xun mixes things up and thinks Zhao Ge’s letter is for him. Xuan Yi is disappointed but tries not to show it. Lin Yuan is also feeling the same for not receiving a love letter from Feng Wu. The King sways and faints in his room.

Zhao Ge is disappointed that it is Feng Xun who shows up until she also sees Xuan Yi tagging along. Feng Wu is hoping Lin Yuan will come to see her despite the fact that she didn’t give him any love letter. Lin Yuan is about to do so when Qing Luan informs him that the King has fallen ill.

Dean Ning pretends that the King is only fatigued in front of the Queen but privately tells Lin Yuan that his father’s condition is suspicious. However, he will need to investigate further. The King had been slowly fed poisonous pills disguised as medicine by a maid on the Queen’s orders. But the King took too many in a day which resulted in an overdose. The Queen signals to Gao Wei to kill the maid.

The maid’s corpse is then hung from a tree to look like a suicide. The suicide note indicates that she had colluded with someone to spy on Junwu Academy. Lin Yuan wants further investigation. But the Queen orders him to take care of the King while she handles the case. She wants all senior-ranked cultivators to be summoned as she claims only they have the ability to be a spy. Qing Luan appears with the King’s medicine. Lin Yuan says that he doesn’t need her help. Her reaction makes Lin Yuan realize that the Spiritual Princess title is not what she is really after.

Episode 21

All the elder and senior cultivators arrive at Junwu Academy as summoned. Feng Wu gets tired of waiting for Lin Yuan to turn up. She decides to go to the Library Pavilion but finds Dean Ning there. He has been stabbed in the heart. Gao Wei arrests her for murdering Dean Ning. Huang Li frames her by lying that she was seen loitering near the crime scene earlier. Feng Wu is put in the detention room.

Qing Luan had followed Dean Ning after he had treated the King. She reported to the Queen that the event would help them to remove Feng Wu. The Queen wants her to keep an eye on Lin Yuan. Lin Yuan is furious that Feng Wu is being detained. But he is stopped from visiting her and confined to the King’s room.

Ming Ye learns about Feng Wu’s predicament and goes to save her. But she refuses to leave as that will make her look guilty. She tells Ming Ye to cooperate with Lin Yuan to solve the matter. Ming Ye barges into the palace to look for Lin Yuan who goes out of the King’s room to check on the commotion. Qing Luan is alone with the King. Lin Yuan claims that Ming Ye is a friend when he notices that Ming Ye is bringing a message from Feng Wu. The King suddenly comes out of his room when he should have been unconscious. He finds it perplexing that Lin Yuan and Ming Ye could be friends.

Ming Ye has a plan to lure out the real killer. They spread the news that Dean Ning is still alive. The real killer re-appears to finish the job but it is a trap. Lin Yuan and Ming Ye combine their forces to capture him.

Master Wu’s Background

The killer turns out to be Master Wu. He takes Gao Wei hostage and retreats to the library. Master Wu demands to see Feng Wu. Gao Wei is released when Feng Wu arrives. Lin Yuan enters the library with her.

Master Wu relates that Sima Yun Niang was the woman he loved. She was also Lin Yuan’s first sword-fighting teacher. Years ago, Dean Ning tricked him out of his position as the dean of Junwu Academy by giving the excuse that he lacked the necessary background. He also wouldn’t have the clout to make Yun Niang the first female teacher as that had been her dream. So, Master Wu left the place disillusioned. Later, he picked up Lord Mu’s manuscript by chance and become a powerful cultivator. So, he can sense that Feng Wu is Lord Mu’s disciple and he would never hurt her.

Yun Niang subsequently resigned from the academy due to differences in opinion and cultivated at the Library Pavilion. Later, she died in a fire when the library was burned down with no corpse to show for it. Master Wu killed Dean Ning because he is angry for what the latter did years ago. He entraps Lin Yuan and Feng Wu in a secret chamber before venturing outside to battle it out.

Lin Yuan suspects the secret chamber used to belong to Lord Mu. He tells Feng Wu that he will help her to awaken her master. They try to look for a way out of the chamber. Feng Wu notices a painting of Lord Mu on a wall. Her spirit ring lights up and the wall opens up.

Episode 22

Master Wu is battling with Spiritual Elder Fang. He consumes a pill that will increase his strength but will cause his blood vessels to rupture once the effects wear off. Master Wu loses his self-consciousness after consuming the pill and starts strangling Spiritual Elder Fang. Xuan Yi arrives to help his grandfather. Together with the rest of the people there, they try to subdue Master Wu. Ming Ye can only watch as Lord Demon has ordered him not to get involved.

Lin Yuan and Feng Wu enters the door and the path leads to a dusty room. They find that Yun Niang used to live there and suspect that she didn’t die in the fire. Feng Wu also finds a letter addressed to Master Wu.

Master Wu’s powers are too great and everyone is hurt. Ming Ye couldn’t watch any longer and tries to take him down. But Master Wu catches him by the neck and strangles him. Feng Wu and Lin Yuan appear with Yun Niang’s letter. Master Wu gets distracted momentarily to enable Ming Ye to escape from his clutch. Lin Yuan and Feng Wu work together to break through Master Wu’s barrier to send him Yun Niang’s message. In the letter, she asked Master Wu to let go of bitter resentment.

Master Wu relents and stops his destructive act. But he is now dying due to the pill he ate. Before his death, he whispers in Feng Wu’s ear the location of the item that she is looking for. Old Man Ba arrives a moment too late to save Master Wu.

Not The Real Feng Wu

Feng Wu opens up to Lin Yuan. She tells him that she is not the real Feng Wu and doesn’t belong in their world. Lin Yuan replies that he can feel she is different from the Feng Wu that he knows. However, he loves her for who she is. Qing Luan eavesdrops on their conversation. She then tells Zhao Ge to leave Feng Wu. But Zhao Ge doesn’t believe Qing Luan that the past and present Feng Wu are 2 different people.

Old Man Ba visits the King and treats him. He is invited to teach at the Junwu Academy but turns down the offer. Instead, he tells the King to make use of Feng Wu’s medical skills which she has learned from him. The King is impressed with Feng Wu based on Old Man Ba’s recommendation. Old Man Ba pays his respects at Master Wu’s tomb before going back to Border City. He discusses with Spiritual Elder Fang, Lin Yuan, and Feng Wu about the King’s health. Now that Master Wu is dead, he has been blamed as the person who poisoned the King. But they doubt that is the case.

Feng Wu finds the second piece of Star Shard in the library. Qing Luan reports to the Queen about the fake Feng Wu. They are afraid that Feng Wu will try to get back her phoenix blood eventually. Thus, Qing Luan will need to strengthen her cultivation so that she can then absorb the phoenix blood too. The Queen introduces her to the Lord Demon who helps her to increase her powers.

Huang Li apologizes to Feng Wu for framing her. But she insists that she saw her at the library that day. Feng Wu realizes someone must have disguised herself to act like her.

Episode 23

With the second Star Shard, Lord Mu’s soul is gradually awakening. The bird spirit can now come in and out of Feng Wu’s spirit ring freely. Qing Luan is curious why the Queen is collaborating with the Lord Demon. The Queen claims that she is doing it for the people. According to her, the King interrupted Lord Mu’s ascension to immortality at the crucial moment which caused him to fail. Back then, Lord Mu picked 2 people to govern the continent, the King and Lord Demon. The King played nice to fool Lord Mu and waited 10 years to be the sole ruler. The Queen further claims that Feng Wu has now bewitched Lin Yuan and Qing Luan would have to wake him up.

Zhao Ge makes Xuan Yi feels shy with her bold hints of her feelings for him. Huang Li apologizes to Ming Ye for misunderstanding him in the past and gives him some pills to help him in his recovery from the fight with Master Wu. The Master Wu incident has made her realize that appearance can be deceiving. The Celestial Palace leader drops by to the Junwu Academy. She notices Zhao Ge doing her training. Mu Yao challenges her to a duel in which she lost.

Zhao Ge is a little disappointed when her mother left the academy without a word. Xuan Yi comforts her that it is only pride which is holding her mother back from acknowledging her.

Feng Wu Rejects Ming Ye

Mu Yao is not happy when the leader reprimands her for insulting Zhao Ge. Qing Luan advises her not to make an enemy out of Zhao Ge. She doesn’t mind losing her position to Zhao Ge in the event that their master decides to accept back Zhao Ge as her daughter. All Qing Luan wants is to defeat Feng Wu. Zhao Ge hears Feng Wu talking to the bird spirit when she returns to their room. She is still skeptical about Qing Luan’s claims because Feng Wu is always kind to her. Zhao Ge asks her out to see the lanterns and fireworks for the night.

Ming Ye drags Feng Wu to the top level of a building to watch the fireworks. He confesses his feelings for her but she turns him down. Ming Ye knows that Feng Wu only has feelings for Lin Yuan. He feels dejected and leaves. Lin Yuan then appears. He has arranged for lanterns to be released with Feng Xun and Xuan Yi’s help. Lin Yuan looks into Feng Wu’s eyes and then kisses her. He is grateful that she is willing to share her secrets with him and really wants to be with her. Zhao Ge begins to have doubts when Qing Luan tries to convince her that the current Feng Wu has a different personality than the one before.

Episode 24

Zhao Ge admits that she has seen Feng Wu talking to her spirit ring. Qing Luan convinces Zhao Ge to confirm Feng Wu’s identity once and for all. Zhao Ge then steals Feng Wu’s spirit ring. Qing Luan tells her to take the ring to Baiding Mountain where an old fairy can cast out the demons.

The Queen promises Qing Luan that Zhao Ge would not be harmed. She also orders Lord Demon to go to Baiding Mountain to ensure all of them are trapped there. Something frightens Zhao Ge at Baiding Mountain and she falls and hits her head. A figure approaches her.

Feng Wu is worried that Zhao Ge has gone missing. She learns from the guards that Zhao Ge had asked for directions to Baiding Mountain. Feng Xun notices her and she tells him what happened. The Lord Demon warns Ming Ye not to save Feng Wu.

Zhao Ge awakes to find herself in a cave. A creature appears. Feng Wu is looking for Zhao Ge in the mountain and runs into a creature. Zhao Ge also appears. Lin Yuan decides to check things out in Baiding Mountain with Xuan Yi and Feng Xun. Zhao Ge explains to Feng Wu that the creature is not a demon but Ms. Wolf. Zhao Ge can communicate with Ms. Wolf using the beasts language. Ms. Wolf is actually a white wolf that has cultivated for thousands of years.

She has been hurt when the cultivators from the academy tried to kill her. Zhao Ge returns Feng Wu’s spirit ring. Ms. Wolf tells Zhao Ge that the ring belongs to Lord Mu. Feng Wu tells them that Lord Mu is her master. This clears the air with Zhao Ge who apologizes to Feng Wu for taking the ring.

Rebellion

Ms. Wolf relates that when she finally assumed human form, she went to work as a maid. She and the young master fell in love. She told him the truth about her background but he still loved her. Then, she fell pregnant. When his family found out, Ms. Wolf was chased out of the house. The young master subsequently committed suicide. Ms. Wolf went berserk. But she is thankful to Lord Mu for letting her live and she now has 2 cubs to bring up.

Lin Yuan, Xuan Yi, and Feng Xun see Ming Ye and his soldiers setting up a maze in the mountain. Lin Yuan asks Xuan Yi and Feng Xun to save Feng Wu and Zhao Ge while he confronts Ming Ye. Ming Ye refuses to listen to Lin Yuan to save Feng Wu because he is under orders by his own father. They start dueling it out. Feng Wu goes out to collect some herbs to treat Ms. Wolf’s injury. Lord Demon makes Zhao Ge and Ms. Wolf fall unconscious. Before she blacks out, Lord Demon appears as Feng Wu to mislead her.

When Feng Wu returns, she finds Zhao Ge and Ms Wolf unconscious. The 2 cubs are dead. Ms. Wolf awakes and assumes Feng Wu is the killer. She goes mad. Feng Xun and Xuan Yi arrive in time to get Feng Wu and Zhao Ge out of the cave. The Queen confronts the King and accuses him of being negligent in running the country. She also admits to having poisoned him. The Queen has control of the palace guards and the King is surrounded. He tries to fight back but Lord Demon appears and catches him by the neck.

Episode 25

The Queen has the King imprisoned. Feng Xun and Xuan Yi escape with Feng Wu and Zhao Ge who is still unconscious. They run to meet Lin Yuan who is still battling it out with Ming Ye. When the demonic Ms. Wolf starts to approach, Lin Yuan and Ming Ye break their fight. Lin Yuan drags Feng Wu and runs. Ms. Wolf is now being constrained and tortured by the trap Darknight Court has set up. Feng Wu pities her and turns back to help her. An energy barrier locks Feng Wu and Ms. Wolf inside. Lin Yuan and Ming Ye could no longer get inside the barrier.

Feng Wu frees Ms. Wolf but the latter turns around to kill her. Just before she hits Feng Wu, she stops as Feng Wu’s spirit ring lights up. Ms. Wolf is reminded of Lord Mu who told her that she will have to chose whether to kill a person to become a demon again or let go of her resentment when the time comes for her tribulation. She lets go of Feng Wu and both of them crash to the ground as the barrier breaks. Feng Wu becomes unconscious. Qing Luan turns up with soldiers to arrest Lin Yuan and the rest for collusion with the demon. She also takes away Feng Wu’s spirit ring.

Mu Yao is questioning Qing Luan whether it is right to work with Darknight Court as it will tarnish Celestial Palace’s reputation. But Qing Luan shuts her up. Qing Luan then subdues Ms. Wolf and has her chained up. As Ms. Wolf is a high ranking demon, Qing Luan plans to use her as cultivation material.

Punishing Feng Wu

The Queen orders for Feng Wu to be interrogated and punished to death with thunder strikes while Lin Yuan and his friends are to be imprisoned. Zhao Ge awakes and wants to get out to look for Feng Wu. Qing Luan asks Zhao Ge to trust her but the latter refuses. When Zhao Ge insists on siding with Feng Wu, Qing Luan has her imprisoned as well.

The Queen summons Lin Yuan from the prison for a chat. She wants him to govern but Lin Yuan is unwilling to be her puppet. The Queen used to love Lord Mu but he loved her disciple sister instead. She sabotaged his ascension to immortality and destroyed him since she couldn’t have him. The Queen wants control and power. Lin Yuan threatens her with his sword. Gao Wei rushes in with his soldiers. Lin Yuan escapes through the window. The Queen announces that Lin Yuan colluded with the demon and attempted to murder her. Hence, he is an enemy of all cultivators and must be killed.

Ms. Wolf escapes from her detention by clawing off her hand from the chain. Huang Li frees Zhao Ge, Xuan Yi, and Feng Xun from prison. She tells them that Feng Wu is being punished. Ming Ye pleads with Lord Demon to spare Feng Wu but is rejected. He then declares to his father that he is prepared to go against him to save her.

Episode 26

Ming Ye enters the thunder strikes area to try to save Feng Wu. She tells him to stop but he refuses to listen. Ming Ye is severely injured and loses his arm. Next comes Lin Yuan. He tries to use his special sword to block the thunder strikes but fails. Feng Wu is feeling helpless. She enters a dream-like state and sees her master.

Feng Wu questions Lord Mu of her existence as she is causing misfortune to others. After all, she thinks she is not the real Feng Wu. Lord Mu casts doubts in her thinking. Feng Wu then meets the real Feng Wu who advises her not to question her destiny but to live her story. The people around her are real and experience both joys and sorrows because of her. Hence, she should protect them. Both of them are Feng Wus but they just made different life choices. With that, the real Feng Wu fades away. Then, Lord Mu’s writings appear and they get absorbed by Feng Wu.

Feng Wu’s powers increase and she has now attained the Spiritual Elder rank. She stops the thunder strikes. At the same time, Qing Luan is trying to capture Ms. Wolf with Mu Yao and the soldiers. Her ice bracelet tingles. Lord Demon tells Ming Ye that he is now disowned. Feng Wu is exhausted from the exertion but still worries about Lin Yuan. Ming Ye feels neglected and quietly leaves. Feng Wu calls out to him and says that she is sorry. But Ming Ye doesn’t want to feel pitied upon. He tells Feng Wu that it is his choice and he has no regrets. Lin Yuan tells Feng Wu to let Ming Ye go to allow him to keep his dignity.

Qing Luan Turns Demonic

Ms. Wolf proves to be too strong. Qing Luan resorts to using demonic powers to try to defeat her but ends up weakened. Mu Yao helps her to a secret cave entrance. She discovers that Qing Luan has been practicing demonic cultivation. She wants to report to their master as she is worried that Qing Luan will go astray. Qing Luan ends up killing Mu Yao which she regrets doing. She then recklessly absorbs a huge amount of demonic power in one go.

Ms. Wolf is being surrounded by cultivators from the academy. Lin Yuan and Feng Wu arrive to try to save her. Feng Wu asks them not to believe in rumors and to trust Lin Yuan. The cultivators tell her to kill Ms. Wolf as proof that they are innocent. Ms. Wolf signals to Feng Wu to kill her. When Feng Wu refuses, Ms. Wolf rushes forward to force her to strike her with her sword. Ms. Wolf tells Feng Wu that her destiny is now fulfilled and she is now free before she dies.

Ms Wolf’s corpse then turns into a Star Shard. Feng Wu tells the cultivators that she is Lord Mu’s disciple. If they can help her to get back her spirit ring, she will be able to wake her master up and they will know the truth. The cultivators begin to believe her. Qing Luan is quietly witnessing the incident.

Episode 27

The Queen is angry that Feng Wu is still alive. She wants Qing Luan to capture her family to force Feng Wu to give up. The Queen also takes away her ice bracelet for safekeeping. She then demands that Lord Demon moves his soldiers to the capital in case they need to attack the 3 sects. Lord Demon has promised the Queen that he will protect her years ago and even now, he is willing to die with her.

Feng Wu brings a group of cultivators to confront Qing Luan. She demands for her spirit ring back. Qing Luan brings out her mother and Qiu Ling. She wants them to say that Feng Wu is a fake. However, both her mother and Qiu Ling reaffirms that she is the real Feng Wu. Qing Luan is mad that everybody believes the fake Feng Wu. She opens up the Illusion Mirror and throws the ring inside it. Feng Wu jumps in to look for it. People will become trapped inside the mirror if they can’t overcome their inner demons.

Lin Yuan enters the Illusion Mirror to look for Feng Wu. Qing Luan is adamant that no one can have what she can’t have. She also enters the mirror with the intention to destroy Feng Wu. Lin Yuan awakes inside the mirror and finds himself with his mother. But he quickly realizes that it is an illusion and breaks out of its spell. When he finds Feng Wu, she seems not to see him. Lin Yuan meets Lord Mu who tips him off that the mirror provides a wonderful possibility and Feng Wu won’t make any progress if she indulges in it.

Lord Mu Is Back

Feng Wu is experiencing happy moments with her parents, Zhao Ge, and Qiu Ling. Lin Yuan keeps calling out to her to wake up. When she realizes things are not right, she finds herself falling and back to the time when Qing Luan tried to steal Feng Wu’s phoenix blood. Qing Luan tires to kill her but Lin Yuan uses his body to block the sword. Feng Wu then stabs Qing Luan in the heart. They fall back down to the real world. Lin Yuan is injured in the chest. Qing Luan dies from her wounds in Zhao Ge’s arms. The mirror breaks and Lord Mu appears.

The Queen is informed about Lord Mu’s awakening. They are unsure of his strength after being in slumber for so long but will proceed with their plan to gauge his reaction. Lord Mu needs time to recover. Feng Wu admits to everyone that she is not the real Feng Wu. Zhao Ge is angry that she has been lied to. She feels bad for distrusting Qing Luan. But Qiu Ling still thinks of Feng Wu as her mistress. While Lin Yuan is not surprised at Feng Wu’s admission, he is feeling apprehensive over the uncertainty of their relationship.

Episode 28

Feng Wu apologizes to her mother for pretending to be her biological daughter. She also returns her the Feng family’s Phoenix Sword. But her mother asks Feng Wu to take it back. She has known all along that Feng Wu is not her own daughter. But she treats her as such as she sees Feng Wu as God’s gift after losing her husband and biological daughter. She knows her daughter is gone and wants Feng Wu not to mind the identity that she now has.

Xuan Yi comforts Zhao Ge. He advises her to face the current Feng Wu as it is a fact that she is her good friend just as the past Feng Wu was. She decides to cook for Feng Wu to apologize for her impulsiveness. Lord Mu is still weak. Feng Wu learns from the bird spirit that Lord Mu had given her half of his phoenix blood to keep her alive back then. Thus, he won’t have the power that he used to have. Feng Wu feels useless for not being able to do anything.

Xuan Yi helps Zhao Ge to cook for Feng Wu. Their friendship reverts to as before. Zhao Ge finds Xuan Yi dozing off and gets up close to him. When he suddenly opens his eyes, she pulls back and feels embarrassed. Xuan Yi gives her a light kiss on impulse. Both of them are shy. He promises to take care of her and protect her.

Returning To The Origin

The King has become the Queen’s puppet. Any dissenters are punished. Spiritual Elder Fang is locked up when he raises objection to working with Darknight Court. Lin Yuan wants to leave the Junwu Academy as he doesn’t want other students to be put at risk because of him. The teacher asks him to stay as it is the academy’s responsibility to protect its students.

Lord Mu requests a meeting with the Queen. He gives a sachet to be passed to the Queen. The sachet is a token from the past. The Queen is wavering when Lord Demon reminds her that she had killed the woman Lord Mu loved. She then declares that nobody can stop her from carrying out her plans and refuses to see him. Lord Demon then takes the sachet and returns it to Lord Mu with a warning that he could easily defeat him now.

With no other way to stop the Queen and Lord Demon, Lord Mu asks Feng Wu to return to where she came from, find the power and stop everything before it happens. After she leaves, Lin Yuan steps in. He asks Lord Mu about the power Feng Wu needs to find.

Episode 29

Lin Yuan knows that Feng Wu is going to leave. He brings her out to spend a day with her. Lord Mu has told him that there isn’t anything for her to find. It is just a ruse to send Feng Wu back to where she belongs to keep her save from the impending disaster. Lin Yuan brings Feng Wu to his secret sanctuary. Feng Wu wants him to wait for her as she will never abandon him. He kisses her on the lips. Feng Xun is going back to Penglai Pavilion to seek help from his master. Zhao Ge also left a note for Xuan Yi that she is going to look for her mother at the Celestial Palace.

Lin Yuan sneaks into the secret chamber at the palace to retrieve the ice bracelet. He is found out. Lord Demon strangles him. Lin Yuan uses his cultivation to hide the bracelet inside a wall. He tries to pick up his sword to attack Lord Demon but the latter turns it around and stabs him in the chest instead. Zhao Ge sees her mother meeting the Queen. The Queen is warning the Celestial Palace leader that she should not create trouble and to rein in her daughter who is close to Feng Wu.

Zhao Ge asks her mother for help but is told that Lin Yuan is already dead. Her mother refuses to intervene as she doesn’t believe she has the powers to defeat the Queen and Lord Demon. Zhao Ge tells her mother that she hopes that they would not be on the opposing sides one day. Lord Mu is sending Feng Wu off. But Zhao Ge brings news that Lin Yuan has died. Feng Wu vomits blood and becomes dispirited.

Junwu Academy Under Attack

The Queen’s and Lord Demon’s soldiers start attacking Junwu Academy. The students put up a fight. Xuan Yi asks Zhao Ge to bring Feng Wu to safety while he goes back to fight the enemy. Zhao Ge is worried for him but he promises that he will be safe. The soldiers surround all the students and Lord Demon starts using his spell to gradually kill them. Lord Mu appears and transports all the students to safety with his limited cultivation powers. He tells Lord Demon that the spirit of Junwu Academy resides in the heart and the buildings. Hence, as long as the students are alive, the spirit lives on.

Lord Mu is arrested and imprisoned. He has transported the students to a nearby secret cave but it is a matter of time before they are discovered. Feng Wu then brings them to Lin Yuan’s secret sanctuary. The Queen is furious when the students could not be found. Lord Demon suggests punishing Lord Mu to death by thunder strikes to lure Feng Wu and her group out. The Queen drops by the prison to inform Lord Mu of his fate. He calmly tells the Queen that all her plans is just an obsession rather than love for him. Since Lord Mu loves cultivation and the Qianyuan Continent to the point of rejecting her, the Queen wants all of it to be destroyed instead.

Episode 30

Feng Wu reminisces on the time she spent with Lin Yuan. She tells Zhao Ge that she has a gut feeling that Lin Yuan is still alive. Zhao Ge encourages her to lift up her spirits to rescue Lin Yuan. Feng Wu manages to convince her fellow students to rise up and fight. A public notice is put up about Lord Mu’s punishment which attracts Ming Ye’s attention.

Feng Xun returns from Penglai Pavilion and tells Xuan Yi about the Red Sacred Bead inside Zhao Ge’s body. Feng Xun’s master heard about it from Zhao Ge’s mother. The bead limits her cultivation and this has nothing to do with her ability. The bead can increase the host’s spirit energy greatly when it takes effect but the host will perish once they get separated. They want to keep the information a secret from Zhao Ge but she has already overheard their conversation.

The attack on Junwu Palace begins. Ming Ye quietly sneaks in to free the injured Lin Yuan. He is doing so as he doesn’t want Feng Wu to feel miserable over Lin Yuan’s fate. Lin Yuan tells Ming Ye where to retrieve the ice bracelet. Ming Ye finds it but runs into Lord Demon. He dares his father to kill him. Lord Demon couldn’t bring himself to do so and lets him go.

While Xuan Yi and Zhao Ge fight the soldiers outside, Feng Wu seeks out the Queen and battles with Lord Demon in the hall. However, Feng Wu is on the verge of defeat. Feng Xun, Xuan Yi, and Zhao Ge appear to hold off Lord Demon. Ming Ye brings Feng Wu the ice bracelet. She needs time to absorb her phoenix blood. Her 3 friends shield her from Lord Demon’s attack.

Lord Demon Is Killed

Lin Yuan goes to save Lord Mu. But Lord Mu has little strength to fight. He passes all his spirit energy to Lin Yuan instead. Zhao Ge couldn’t withstand the onslaught anymore and is afraid their defense would not hold. She uses the Red Sacred Bead in her to repel Lord Demon. Then, she starts to fade. Xuan Yi holds her hand and both of them then disappear together. Lord Demon needs time to recover. Feng Wu absorbs her phoenix blood. This time, Feng Wu easily subdues Lord Demon. She is about to kill him when Ming Ye asks her to stop.

Gao Wei brings Feng Wu’s mother out with a sword to her neck to threaten her. Her mother bites his hand. Feng Xun throws his fan and kills Gao Wei with a cut to his neck. Feng Wu asks Feng Xun to bring her mother to safety. Lin Yuan flies in and through Lord Demon who senses Lord Mu’s energy. He dies from the impact. The Queen accepts that it is destiny and kills herself to join Lord Demon. Ming Ye is sad to see his father dead.

It is Feng Wu and Lin Yuan’s wedding day. Lin Yuan’s procession is on its way. Xuan Yi and Zhao Ge are with Feng Wu. Lord Mu has secured their nascent souls with the spirit ring to save them. While Feng Wu is waiting in her room for Lin Yuan to arrive, she senses someone around. She steps outside and sees her master. Lord Mu tells Feng Wu that he is there to take her away.

Other Dramas Similar To Dance Of The Phoenix

The one drama that pops up in my mind when I watched Dance Of The Phoenix is Love Of Thousand Years. It is also based on a novel and has fantasy elements that include demons and magical powers. In this story, the main female character takes on the face of her maid to avoid detection. I also like The Romance Of Tiger And Rose whereby a scriptwriter gets sucked into the story and has to live the life of the character that she has created. While this is a rom-com which is different from Dance Of The Phoenix, it also has the similarity of the female character having to live someone else’s life.
