Your Sensibility My Destiny (公子倾城) caught my eye because the male lead looked familiar in the promotional posters. Then, I realized that he is the Crown Prince in One And Only and that got me interested to see how he would fare as the main lead in another historical drama. He is a new face to me but I’m always open to watching less popular actors. Sometimes, they do surprise me with their acting skills despite their inexperience. As for the drama itself, is it a good one to watch? Well, check out Your Sensibility My Destiny review below to find out more.

Synopsis
Mo Qing Chen was born without sensory perceptions. He has no sense of taste, touch, and feelings. Before he was born, the Grand Preceptor had warned the Emperor of the bad omens associated with his birth due to his lack of senses. The Emperor didn’t want to kill his own son just to protect his throne. Instead he killed the Grand Preceptor to keep it a secret. Over the years, many people have been killed in order to protect Mo Qing Chen’s secret from being exposed including Prince Rui’s mother and maternal grandfather.
Without feelings, Mo Qing Chen leads a reclusive life away from the palace. He has no interest in titles and power since he is detached from desires. But a chance encounter with Lin Chi changes his life. He could experience sensations and feelings whenever he touches her. As Lin Chi is a swindler, she has an arrest warrant out for her. Mo Qing Chen takes advantage of it to force Lin Chi to stay by his side.
Over time, the 2 of them fall in love with each other. But the Empress is wary of Lin Chi who knows Mo Qing Chen’s secret. The Empress wants Lin Chi killed while Prince Rui is also curious about Lin Chi’s sudden appearance in Mo Qing Chen’s life. Prince Rui hates Mo Qing Cheng for what happened to his mother and has always been suspicious of the latter’s secret. Then, Lin Chi learns that Mo Qing Chen could be her parents’ killer.
Your Sensibility My Destiny Ending (Spoilers Alert!)
Your Sensibility My Destiny has a happy ending. Lin Chi fell pregnant and gave birth to a baby at the end of Episode 24. Mo Qing Chen was decreed to be the Crown Prince but opted to remain at his manor rather than moving to the palace. Prince Jing and Qiu Wan were getting married while Du Ruo declined a promotion to be a royal guard and remained as a Chief Constable. As a royal guard, he will be meeting Mo Ching Chen and Lin Chi more often which he was reluctant to do due to his feelings for her which he never confess.
Why Mo Qing Chen Lacks Sensory Perceptions
Mo Qing Chen was born without sensory perceptions because his pregnant mother was poisoned by Prince Rui’s mother. Prince Rui’s grandfather was the Grand Preceptor who came up with the prophecy about Mo Qing Chen being a demon. It was all a frame up which resulted in the Emperor killing Prince Rui’s mother and grandfather.
However, the Emperor didn’t set the record straight and expose the lies. Hence, the rumors remained. The Emperor did so supposedly to protect both his sons. But he also has a selfish reason to keep the prophecy in the background in case his sons rebel. Then, he would be able to use it as an excuse to keep them in check. In the meantime, he pretended he didn’t believe in the prophecy and unaware of Mo Qing Chen’s lack of senses.
Over the years, the Empress has always been worried that Mo Qing Chen’s secret will be revealed because he would be deemed a demon and killed. Prince Rui led a life of bitterness because he thought it was an injustice that his mother and grandfather were killed when they tried to expose Mo Qing Chen’s secret. Thus, all their lives were badly affected due to the Emperor’s selfishness. This is revealed in Episode 24 when Mo Qing Chen confronted the Emperor.
Who Is Lin Chi’s Long Lost Sister?
Lin Chi’s sister is Ling Yan and they found out about each other’s identity in Episode 10. Lin Chi was not home during the time her family were massacred. She was out with Master Zhuang to collect herbs in the mountains. Master Zhuang was her father’s friend. When they returned, everyone had been killed and her younger sister was missing. Ling Yan has been taken in by Prince Rui and she lived with him for the next 10 years.
Who Killed Lin Chi’s Parents?
The person who killed Lin Chi and Ling Yan’s parents was Leng Feng. But the person who gave the order was Prince Rui who admitted so to Lin Chi in Episode 20. Lin Chi’s father was a renowned physician. Mo Qing Chen was sent to him for treatment to try to regain his senses. It was done very quietly and even Lin Chi and Ling Yan have little knowledge about their father’s patient. Prince Rui ordered the killing in order to prove that Mo Qing Chen is a devil. But he didn’t kill Ling Yan who was still a little girl at that time. He took her in instead and thus, Ling Yan saw him as her savior.
The Empress got wind of Prince Rui’s plan and closed off the case by getting some bandits to take the blame for the massacre. Hence, Prince Rui’s plan was foiled.
What Happened To Ling Yan And Prince Rui?
Ling Yan died in Episode 19 when she engaged Prince Rui in a duel. Her love for him allowed him to pierce her with his sword during their fight. Ling Yan was torn between revenge and love. She knew Prince Rui killed her parents when he let slip that he was at the scene during her mother’s dying moments. She could also remember the swishing sounds of Leng Feng’s sword which she heard while in hiding during the massacre.
Prince Rui also loved Ling Yan but his obsession with revenge triumphed over all else. He thought his father was biased towards Mo Qing Chen and there was no justice for his mother. His belief was that his mother and grandfather were killed for trying to expose a demon. He wanted Mo Qing Chen dead but the latter outwitted him by feigning death to trick him. In the end, Prince Rui was defeated and arrested. The Emperor ordered him to die.
While in prison, Mo Qing Chen enlightened Prince Rui about what happened in the past. Prince Rui regretted that it was all a mistake and his mother was indeed guilty. He saw Ling Yan appearing before him. He drank the poisoned wine and died in prison in Episode 24.
The Connection Between Mo Qing Chen And Lin Chi
Mo Qing Chen could regain his senses through Lin Chi because of the same medication that they have taken. When Lin Chi’s father was treating Mo Qing Chen, he also experimented with the same herbs through Lin Chi. But before there was any progress on Mo Qing Chen’s condition, he was killed by Prince Rui. The couple found this out by accident in Episode 22.
Mo Qing Chen also learned that it is their tears that could make them swap their condition in Episode 16. That means the sensory perceptions can be transferred from the one who has it to the one who don’t by dropping a tear into the other’s eye.
When Did Mo Qing Chen And Lin Chi Become A Couple?
Mo Qing Chen and Lin Chi got together in Episode 6. But they broke up briefly in Episode 8 when the Empress didn’t agree to their marriage and Lin Chi felt that she wasn’t the right person for him due to her lowly status. They reconciled in Episode 9 when she returned to his manor after finding out that she had lost her sensory perceptions. Mo Qing Cheng and Lin Chi subsequently got married in Episode 18 after obtaining the Emperor’s permission.
There is a slight love triangle in the drama as Du Ruo also loved Lin Chi. But he never did confess to her although Mo Qing Chen knew about his feelings. Du Ruo simply told him to take good care of Lin Chi to which Mo Qing Chen gave the assurance that he would before their wedding.
Your Sensibility My Destiny Review – A Little Boring
Your Sensibility My Destiny turns out to be a little boring to me. It has some filler scenes which I think is unnecessary for better pacing. I guess it depends on whether you like to watch the main couple’s interactions. If you do, then this might not be a problem for you. In fact, it could make the drama sweeter. For me, they are just another average couple found in many other rom-coms rather than one whom I would crave to watch more of. So, this drama has boring patches here and there midway through for me despite the rather interesting main plot.
On the whole, it is a relatively easy watch until the last few episodes. The pacing quickens then and there is a bit of angst towards the end due to the revenge angle. But there is nothing really depressing or nail-biting. The ending for the villain is predictable although there is a slight twist to the story of what actually happened in the past. I think if you have watched enough Chinese dramas, you probably could have guessed. Nevertheless, it is still a satisfying explanation to close off the drama.
Interesting Plot
I find the plot for Your Sensibility My Destiny to be quite interesting although it is not totally original. There is an element of it which reminds me of The Day Of Becoming You whereby the leads could swap bodies and not knowing what is the trigger. In Your Sensibility My Destiny, the leads could swap between having and not having sensory perceptions. Similarly, they too do not know the trigger factor until much later. Since they are bound together in that way, that is where the romance comes in in the plot. Of course, there is also the revenge angle to give the plot the needed villain.
What would heighten your curiosity as you follow the story is that you are not told why Mo Qing Chen was born that way and the reason Lin Chi has a special connection to him until the last quarter of the drama. The screenwriter has made it interesting in that way to give viewers some level of anticipation.
New Actor
Wang Xing Yue is only 19 years old this year (2021). For such a young actor, he actually looked pretty matured in the drama. Obviously, he didn’t have much acting experience under his belt yet at the time of filming Your Sensibility My Destiny, but I think he still managed to perform well. Just like Zhang Ling He in Maiden Holmes, these young and inexperienced actors really give viewers a nice surprise with their respectable acting skills.
Bu Guan Jin is 8 years older than Wang Xing Yue but the age difference is not obvious in the drama. There is maturity in his looks and the way he carries himself for the role of Mo Qing Chen. Hence, you won’t feel put off even if you know their real age difference as you watch. I’m okay with Bu Guan Jin’s acting although she didn’t manage to make Lin Chi a lovable character to me. She is not annoying but neither did she leave a deep impression on me.
Leads’ Chemistry
I can’t say that the main leads’ chemistry is top-notch. It is not a fail either but somewhere in between. If a couple has really great chemistry, you would simply wish that they will be paired up again in another drama such as Zhang Zhe Han and Ju Jing Yi in The Blooms At Ruyi Pavilion and Liang Jie and Xing Zhao Lin in The Eternal Love Season 3.
For me, I’m neutral on this pairing of Wang Xing Yue and Bu Guan Jin. There are a lot of hugs and simple kisses between them in Your Sensibility My Destiny but they don’t make my heart flutter and crave for more. I don’t know whether it is because the drama got boring midway through for me or I’m simply not seeing enough sparks between them.
Others may have a different view and see them as sweet. They are to a certain extent for me. But once they keep repeating the same sweetness throughout the drama, my interest started to wane and I can’t feel the sizzles anymore.
My Verdict – Give It A Try
Personally, I don’t find My Sensibility Your Destiny to be anything great. But I still say give it a try if you are debating whether you should give it a go. You might like it especially if you love romances that start early and the leads are always together as a couple like in General’s Lady. That is why many viewers will see this drama as sweet and fluffy. But because I don’t find the couple’s chemistry to be that great, the sweetness isn’t sustainable for me since they got together pretty early in the drama.
So, what made me watch till the end is the plot rather than the romance. Some key stories are not revealed to the viewers until the last leg. However, don’t be too fussy over the details if you want to truly enjoy the story. You will notice inconsistencies in the way the characters act when they are supposed to have a lack of feelings. I also can’t figure out why they would have desire and yearning for the other whenever their senses are missing and they are not within touch.
Anyway, for this My Sensibility Your Destiny review, I would give it a score of 7/10. It has an understandable plot and some level of anticipation. If you love the main couple, it will be a huge bonus as this will turn this drama into a very sugary watching experience. Otherwise, it will just be another historical romance drama with a typical revenge storyline.
