Anyone who follows Chinese dramas can’t possibly miss You Are My Glory (你是我的荣耀) with all the promotion and hype surrounding it. It stars 2 of the biggest celebrities in China currently. Hence, it is indeed tempting to watch this when they put 2 good-looking people together to create a fairy tale romance. This production also shares the same screenwriter as Love 020 which was another big hit back then. So, could the team reproduce the same success as Love 020? Yu Tu
Yu Tu is an aerospace engineer and researcher working with the National Aerospace Institute. He is a very intelligent man with dashing good looks and a workaholic. He is also very confident of his abilities and appearance. But Yu Tu also tends to be reserved with a lot on his mind.
Qiao Jing Jing
Jing Jing is an actress and a very popular celebrity. She is pretty and talented and a much sought after brand endorser. She is also very down-to-earth despite her success. Jing Jing can be quick-witted and mischievous.

Sister Ling
Sister Ling is Jing Jing’s manager. She always has Jing Jing’s interest at heart and they share a close relationship.
Xiao Zhu
Xiao Zhu is Jing Jing’s personal assistant. She is loyal to Jing Jing and respectful of her privacy.
Guan Zai
Guan Zai is a chief engineer at the National Aerospace Institute and is also responsible for a research project. He is Yu Tu’s immediate superior and a workaholic. Guan Zai also has a young son.
Shen Jing
Shen Jing is Guan Zai’s wife. She is an understanding and loving wife and mother.
Zhai Liang
Zhai Liang is Yu Tu’s good friend and temporary flat mate who is in-between jobs.

Pei Pei is Jing Jing’s best friend from high school. She supplies Jing Jing with the news and gossips of their ex-classmates.

Da Meng is Yu Tu’s co-worker. He is the blur and gullible one in the group.

Director Zhang is a senior member of the National Aerospace Institute. He is also Yu Tu’s professor and mentor.

Xia Jing is Yu Tu’s ex-girlfriend and high school classmate. She is a successful executive who still longs for a reconciliation with Yu Tu.

Su Zhi is a rich businessman and Jing Jing’s ex-boyfriend. He still harbors hopes of getting back together with Jing Jing.
Synopsis
Yu Tu was a top student back in school and went on to graduate from a top university with a double major in engineering and finance. His dream has always been space exploration and he is now an aerospace engineer. However, Yu Tu is facing a career crisis as he feels he should quit and join the financial sector in order to provide a more comfortable life for his parents.
On the other hand, Jing Jing is flowing along smoothly in her career as an actress. She is a very popular star and the brand ambassador for an online game. Jing Jing and Yu Tu were ex-classmates but they have lost touch since 10 years ago. She used to have a crush on him but he rejected her.
Due to negative publicity about Jing Jing’s poor gaming skills, she has to learn and improve her score for the game she endorses. A chance encounter with Yu Tu while logged onto the game gives Jing Jing an opportunity to re-connect with him. As Yu Tu is good in the game, Jing Jing gets him to teach her for a period of time. She re-develops feelings for him and could feel his struggle in making the right career decision. Yu Tu also begins to fall for Jing Jing but feels inadequate in providing for her.
You Are My Glory Ending (Spoilers Alert!)
Being a sweet romance drama, of course You Are My Glory would have a happy ending! But it is still a bit different from the usual rom-coms which tend to have the wedding scene in the last episode. In You Are My Glory, the wedding actually takes place in Episode 30. The last 2 episodes are still filled with lovey-dovey moments but a significant portion of it is on Yu Tu’s realization of his dream.
Yu Tu and Jing Jing are already married for 5 years by then. He has been working hard on his project to help the nation launch a rocket into space. Towards the end of the last episode, the rocket is successfully launched. Yu Tu’s part of the project is also a success as the rocket functions as it should when it exits Earth and enters space. Jing Jing witnesses the launch and waits for Yu Tu to complete his work. She is proud of her husband and they are both touched by each other’s love and support over the years.
Why Did Yu Tu Reject Jing Jing?
Yu Tu rejected Jing Jing twice. The first time was back in high school. He rejected her request to be his girlfriend because he said he didn’t need one and if he did, he would want someone who could work hard together with him.
The second time Yu Tu rejected her is in Episode 15. He loves her by then but fears that he has nothing to offer her. He has decided to remain as an aerospace engineer then and feels that they belong to 2 different worlds. Not only he earns very much less than her, he also thinks he wouldn’t have the time to take care of her due to the nature of his job. It takes about 3 episodes for Yu Tu to think things through and begin to woo Jing Jing.
When Did Yu Tu And Jing Jing Become A Couple?
Yu Tu asks Jing Jing to be together in Episode 20. Jing Jing is still hesitant then. She only wavers when she learns that he has left her a birthday present in the online game she endorses at about the same time that he rejected her. So, they officially become a couple in Episode 21 and it is Yu Tu who makes the first move for a change.
Is There Any Breakup?
No, there is no breakup once Yu Tu and Jing Jing have got together. Their relationship is pretty smooth-sailing all the way to the end once they started dating.
You Are My Glory Review – Oh, The Sweetness Of It All!
You Are My Glory actually has a very simple storyline but it is simplicity done right. For one, the episodes are kept short. They are only about 30 minutes each which makes it easy to keep your attention span. I think it works well in this case because there isn’t much meat to the story unlike dramas such as The Day Of Becoming You or Never Say Goodbye. Instead, You Are My Glory is filled with moments – those that will make your heart flutter as well as feel touched by the love the couple exhibits.
Besides the short episodes, there are a few other things going for it to make it highly watchable.
Simple Plot But No Annoyances
A lot of romance dramas have simple plots too but then they will also have all these annoying characters and/or cliches. So, if you are tired of watching rich, cold CEOs like in Unforgettable Love and jealous love rivals as in Miss Crow With Mr. Lizard, I think you will enjoy the change offered by You Are My Glory. This is because this drama has no breakups, unnecessary bickering, disapproving parents, and love triangle. It feeds on warmth, support, dreams, and of course, love. It is reminiscent of the couple in Love Is Sweet but the way the story is told in You Are My Glory has a greater feel of sentimentality.
Basically, the whole drama is stress-free with no villains to hate. The leads are the main attractions and there are no side couples to take away their attention. It also moves away from cliches and thus, you won’t have accidental hugs and kisses or other juvenile antics of the pursuer or the pursued. It is also a change that it is the girl who got rejected first, not once but twice, as she lets known her feelings. Compared to other rom-coms, there is more maturity in the romance which makes it more realistic given the age of the characters and their personalities.
Witty Dialogues
I think one of the reasons why this romance drama is enjoyable boils down to the witty dialogues between Yu Tu and Jing Jing. So, if you don’t understand Mandarin, it is best to watch with subtitles to enjoy their exchanges. Yu Tu is inherently a brainy guy while Jing Jing is also quick-witted honed from years of being a celebrity. Sometimes, they will just try to outwit each other and these scenes can be really entertaining and sweet. You will rarely find such witty exchanges in other rom-coms especially when they are delivered perfectly by the 2 leads.
Overflowing Chemistry
Dilraba Dilmurat has always had great chemistry with her co-stars including Vengo Gao in Eternal Love Of Dream as well as Johnny Huang In Love Designer. She did it again with Yang Yang in You Are My Glory. Their chemistry is palpable and it has to be for the drama to be a success. Without the right sparks, this drama would not be an attractive watch given that it is heavily romance-driven.
The production team has made sure that they are not stingy with the kisses and show of affections for the couple. Once the main leads start dating, viewers are treated with kisses in most episodes from light pecks to bed scenes. Both Dilraba Dilmurat and Yang Yang did them very naturally like a pair of real lovers. As a viewer, you would automatically feel the pull of their love for each other and all the sweetness that come with it.
My Verdict – A Little Boring At First, But Watch!
I have to admit that You Are My Glory did not start out with a bang for me. It kept me thinking what the hype is all about in the beginning. The first 3 episodes are fine when they meet again. But after that, you will get a lot of gaming scenes which might put some viewers off. Following that, there is also focus on Yu Tu’s work which I would say is boring. I guess you need them to build a foundation for the drama and to give greater meaning to the story development later on.
Suffice to say, I fast-forwarded some of these scenes. The good thing is that you could skip or fast-forward some parts of the drama and you would not miss much. The second half of the drama is much better and it makes up for the boredom of the first half. By the time the leads get together, it will make you forget the less exciting parts of the earlier episodes because you will be entranced by their chemistry and romance. Therefore, when the drama comes to an end, the love and sweetness is what you will remember.
For this You Are My Glory review, I would give it a score of 8/10. It is definitely worth your time despite being slow-moving for the first half of the drama. The fact that you have 2 beautiful-looking people together is enough to give it extra marks for casting alone. Their visuals match perfectly and their sizzling chemistry gives this romance drama an edge over the rest. Watch it if you prefer a more matured feel to your romance as well as for the YangDi couple. The touching OST also provided the right mood for some scenes which is a bonus.

I think the drama was well done. There’ss a style with dramas, which is create a challenge to building the love interest, once they’re in a love interest, create a controversy that wants to disrupt their relationship and how they build up on it.
I enjoyed the first half up to the first 23 episodes more than the last 9. Coming from watching King’s Avatar, or O2O, it made sense. While the first part catered to developing their relationship from Jing Jing’s side, it shifted slightly to Yu Tu the last 9 as it explored their relationship, challenges of being a couple.
While it may have some value to talk about the space stuff, and development of the aerospace job Yu Tu had, I did find that pretty boring. I understand theres national pride factor especially for those native, but personally I would’ve liked to see them that a different approach to see how they would develop their relationship further., otherwise most of the time jumping in the story was more just to further Yu Tu’s career more than anything else.
The chemistry of the two main leads was dynamic and what drove the story well.
I really enjoyed watching this drama, definitely what I needed to destress this period. A really sweet drama really, also helps that both leads are very pretty.

This was such a sweet drama! No cliched distractions at all. I just loved watching their relationship develop. I rewatched the series entirely twice now and parts of episodes many more times. I loved the soundtrack as well.
It is a very sweet series- I really like Dilraba and have watched as many shows with her in them as I could find – I also liked Yang Yang and thought he did a really good job with his character – I didn’t want to watch another sad, emotional drama – this was almost perfect!
One MAJOR problem is the film makers want you to think you can actually see the moons’ surface that clearly – there are NOT any lenses for a telescope that would let you see it like that – even Hubble can’t show it that clearly! But it was still pretty interesting to see some of the landscape they were travelling through – China is a very diverse country!

especially the characters. The chemistry between the main two star is just breathe taking. It’s a 10 out 10 for me my opinion. can’t wait for the ending.
