Well Intended Love Season 2 (奈何BOSS要娶我 2) is certainly made for fans after the first season became a hit aided by the great chemistry between the 2 leads. So, I also jumped into it to see what is the difference between the 2 seasons and which is the better one to watch. It is a short and feel good drama which takes away the risk of being draggy with unnecessary fillers. With only 16 episodes, why not give it a try, right? The Well Intended Love Season 2 review below will help you decide if it is indeed worth your time.

Well Intended Love Season 2 Ending (Spoilers Alert!)
As can be expected, it has to be a happy ending for a rom-com like this. Viewers are given a glimpse of the couple’s life 5 years later after their wedding. Yes, they did have a wedding scene in the last episode. Xia Lin was pregnant just before her wedding ceremony. 5 years later, she wins an award for best actress. Her son is already 4 years old and they enjoy a blissful family life. She has a loving relationship with Yi Zhou although he has to fight with their son for her attention! There are also snippets of the Season 1 which appear in Xia Lin’s dream towards the end. It is a way of sending viewers the message that they are meant to be together no matter the time and space.
Who Are The Bad Guys In Season 2?
There are 2 antagonists in Well Intended Love Season 2. They are working together with one influencing the other with misleading information about Yi Zhou’s culpability in a car accident that landed Jiang’s brother in a coma. Jiang has been working hard to elevate Xia Lin’s popularity as a celebrity. But she did it with the intention to pull Xia Lin down from her high perch so that Xia Lin will feel devastated after tasting success. Jiang wants revenge against Xia Lin for rejecting her brother who was interested in her and subsequently, got himself in an accident.
Wei Ning took advantage of Jiang’s desire for revenge against Xia Lin to settle his own score with Yi Zhou. So, they worked together to try to break Xia Lin and Yi Zhou apart. Jiang was arrested for trying to cause them harm with some poisonous powder and she later revealed that Wei Ning is her accomplice. He is arrested as well in the end for locking Yi Zhou and Xia Lin in a freezer room.
The Secondary Couples
Wen Li proposes to Jia Fei on Xia Lin and Yi Zhou’s wedding day. They had just rushed back from a holiday as Jia Fei chased Wen Li all the way to Iceland. He left for Iceland when she got cold feet over his intention to lead a life together. Chu Yan ends up with Xiao You. She does have a crush on him and takes every opportunity to get close to him. She confesses her feelings and Chu Yan’s interest in her gradually grows. He never did tell Xia Lin about his feelings for her and they naturally subsided after she fell in love with Yi Zhou.
Season 1 vs Season 2
There are a few notable differences between Well Intended Love Season 1 and 2. While Xia Lin is a struggling actress in the earlier season, she is already popular in the second. Right from the start of the drama, she is already friends with Chu Yan when they used to bicker in the earlier version. Yi Zhou is also more talkative and less moody while Wen Li is definitely less timid compared to Season 1. The way Yi Zhou and Xia Lin started their relationship is also less bizarre.
It is also obvious that they have a bigger budget in Season 2 as the clothes are way more stylish. However, it is only 16 episodes long which is 4 episodes shorter than the previous season. Hence, the revenge plot is not so drawn out and the main antagonist doesn’t get as much screen time compared to Season 1. The same goes for Yi Zhou’s strained relationship with his mother. Other than that, there is really not much difference between the 2 seasons in general as the characters and plot remain more or less the same.
Well Intended Love Season 2 Review – Only For Fans
If you are looking for originality and something different from Season 1, then I’m afraid you will be disappointed. Basically, what they have done is to take the successful formula of Season 1 and replicate it in Season 2. So, the whole drama still centers on the contractual relationship between Yi Zhou and Xia Lin after he maneuvered her into it. The upside is Yi Zhou did not have to resort to a cruel leukemia plot to tie Xia Lin to him this time round. He simply took the opportunity to get her to agree to an engagement contract when something cropped up unexpectedly.
Therefore, the plot is less demented and Yi Zhou is more likable in Season 2. You don’t have to watch the first season to understand the second. It can stand alone on its own. It is like a new story in an alternate world but with the same characters. Many people like Season 1 because of the romance and brilliant chemistry between Xu Kai Cheng and Simona Wang. That same chemistry is carried into Season 2. You will get the sweet kisses and romantic feel that made Season 1 successful and hence, it should not disappoint fans.
Where It Fails
Having said that, Well Intended Love Season 2 does lag behind Season 1 in a few areas. Firstly, the pacing of the drama is very, very fast. It is too fast that the story doesn’t seem to progress naturally. Before you know it, Xia Lin has proposed that they get married. Hence, the overly fast pacing fails to allow for the story and characters to develop. For that, you will need to watch dramas like Le Coup de Foudre instead.
Secondly, there is little change to the plot. They got engaged, fell in love, and enemies are out to break them apart to make them suffer. You can say that the production team seems to have got a little lazy to come up with something more original or at least, add something more refreshing to the story to make it stand out from Season 1. But nope, it is merely a rehash of an old formula. So, if you are looking for not so common plots, you are better off watching Love The Way You Are or Find Yourself instead.
Thirdly, many details are left out to fit everything within 16 episodes. For example, we also have Yi Zhou’s mother in Season 2 but her screen time has been drastically reduced. She simply turns up to enquire about Yi Zhou’s well-being and then fades away when she isn’t welcomed. I don’t even know why they bothered with her character at all when nothing is resolved between mother and son.
Should You Watch?
I would say that unless you are a fan, you can give this a miss. In this Well Intended Love Season 2 review, I would only give this drama a 6.5/10 rating because it is lacking in a few areas as mentioned above. Personally, I prefer Season 1 than 2 although others may disagree with me. Yes, Season 2 is less creepy with more humor. But the progress of the story in Season 1 seems more natural to me and the characters’ motivations are also better explained. Watching the bantering that goes on between Xia Lin and Yi Zhou for the first time somehow also feels more romantic than the second time round. Perhaps a repeat just takes away some of the luster for me.

Just finished this one … I do have to admit that i skipped some parts but what made my heart really flatter was supporting characters Chu Yan and Ruan Meng i loved how cute their story was even though Ruan Meng appeared halfway of the series wished she could have appeared sooner. I think that they do have spark and her line you are special in the last ep made my heart flutter… I think this couple’s story would really turn out great if given a chance to have another season… if
chata21 says
All this aside…… I wouldn’t mind watching a season 3 in yet another dimension. It seems crazy and silly to want to put up comparable plots but it’s their shtick and they should stick with it! Season 3…. but go back to some crazy plots… and make the others have more rounded characterization just as Chu Yan did in season 1 (vs 2). Or make him a broke ass humble country boy new to the city. Idk.
KIKI says
THAT MADE ME LAUGH
Nati says
Is it me or its the same story just different scenario i thought it would continue the story ????
Drama Addict says
Yes, it’s more or less the same story as Season 1 but happening in an alternate universe or time dimension.
Victoria says
I also thought they would continue with season 1; she gives birth to a child and more problems arise and maybe someone tried to hurt their child…blah blah.
I wouldn’t have watched it if I knew it’s the same thing but I’ve started watching it, so I’m like, “why not just finish it and let’s see what happens to Chu Yan and Xiayuo and also Jia Fei and Wen Li”
Lucya says
Idk why but i get the impression Ling Yi Zhou is more handsome in season 1, like hes more fit….i think in season 2 he lost some weight and the hair is a bittt different? (Shorter maybe) what do u guys think ?
mustworktoprovideformumu says
I think he is just less horrible because he didn’t lie about leukemia. But they also wrote funnier, warmer lines for him. They had to salvage his character, because they know they’ve got something special in MuMu.

I think everyone looks better in season 2. I love it!
Lu whan zheng says
Yeah I’m more into continuing stories so this was a little confusing to me it’s cute but not my style so I like 1st one best
Chrissy Miles says
Me too. I’m looking for them to have children, go on a vacation. Have a few fights because LYZ has become his father and XL is not having it. Wen li and Fei Fei was already engaged that should have been the new well intended love. Chu Yan and the rich Cinderella Season 3 and so on. Can tall plz hire me to help with the writing of the script.

This is really annoying, was hoping for a continuation after having a son and they are all happy. Why take back the whole story, it’s like watching season 1 all over again.
Victoria says
I’m watching the 9th episode of season 2 and I also find season 2 weird. The first season felt more romantic than the second one and there were a lot of things going on. I feel season 2 was too corny and rushed.
However, I’m looking forward to the relationship between Chu Yan and Xiayuo.
Victoria says
But I must admit, season 2 is pretty interesting and I like it because of the humor
chata21 says
I agree. It’s far more light-hearted, less dramatic, and funnier… but the plot sucks compared with the first in that everything ties up neatly and pretty. At least in the first, it’s the typical overdramatic plotlines. However, the kissing scenes between the OTHER couples (Chu Yan and Ruo Meng; Wen Li and Jia Fei) were FAR MORE NATURAL than the leading actors… though they did seem to loosen up in season 2, I think, because they were more familiar with each other. Watching these kissing scenes is like a train wreck – so terrible but just can’t look away.
mustworktoprovideformumu says
I haven’t seen a great kissing scene since I discovered Asian dramas and romances on netflix. I kinda like it. Who says we have to watch people run their tongues around in each others’ mouths? Why can’t westerners leave anything to the imagination any more? But I agree with you having two people hold a kissing pose for the requisite 5 seconds seems like a waste of film. There is one kiss I really like. Mumu kisses Mr. Link really quickly towards the end of Season 2 with a loud “mwah!” It is so sweetly done it makes Wen Li blush. It’s an example of the fact that either Mumu is better developed in a shorter time in Season 2, or Simona Huang is just more comfortable playing her. Given how good she was in Season 2, I think the cast got better and her lines got better. She has been brilliant from her very first scene.
mustworktoprovideformumu says
I’d love your opinion about my theory that Season 2 is a fictionalization of the “real” Season 1. I actually liked the faster pace of Season 2 until the end, when I wished there were more episodes to watch.
Lucy says
First I was really confused about the second season. Because it ist the same story like in the first season and not continuing the first season.
But thinking of it, I think I like the second season more. Yes the relationship between Yi Zhou and Xia Lin haven’t a lot of super romantic parts but the way they act in the wohl time ist more realistic then in season one.
Also I find the second season mor fun then the first.
And the fact that Chu Yan also get a nice girl is amazing 🙂
Of course the second season have parts that are absolutely unnecessary, like the part with the mother of Yi Zhou.
And if the would put some timeline in der season I think it would be better to understand how much time have past, so everything really seems to happen really fast.
mustworktoprovideformumu says
The timing does get confusing. What do you think of the idea that Season 2 is Jia Fei’s fictionalization of the “real” Season 1?
Lucy says
Hmmm I thought that it was the other way.
That the second season is real and the first ist the story of Jia Fei.
It is a nice idea but I think beginning with that earlier and replacing it with the dream that Xia Lin have would be better.
But that they took the first season as part of the career from Xia Lin is a nice idea.
mustworktoprovideformumu says
I seem to be the only one who believes an apparently radical interpretation of Season 2. Season 2 is Jia Fei’s fictionalization of the “real world” of Season 1, with everyone playing themselves. If you recall, at the movie premier in Season 1, the one from which Xia Lin was captured (AGAIN!!), Jia Fei, upon sitting down in the front row with the director, mentioned that she is already writing her next script. I think Season 2 was it. Which makes the idea of remaking Season 1, just different, slightly less bizarre don’t you think?
I like both Seasons. The original will always be just that, but I am enjoying Jia Fei’s amped up personality even more in Season 2. I think her being more confident and accomplished allows more of her charm and sexiness to take over the camera. I don’t mind not hating Ling Yi Zhou quite so much, though they still hint that he WOULD have lied about her medical situation if she hadn’t landed right in his lap.
At the end of the day, this wonderful show is a vehicle for the world to see Simona Wang Shuang, in all of her magnificent glory. She has created (with the help of really good, witty writing), a character that will live forever. I like to think of her as the Chinese Lucille Ball. A truly beautiful, talented actress with amazing comedic timing.
Her relationships with Jai Fei, slapping her hand away from her robe in Episode 1 of Season2, and Wen Li, kicking after him for calling her a bad actress in Episode 20 of Season 1, make the audience believe such a wonderful character really exists. AND when she replied to her agent, when asked if “something’s happening” on her first date with Mr. Ling, with “It’s not just something,…it’s EVERYTHING!!,” she made me forgot I needed the subtitles, because I knew what she was saying, regardless of language.
I hope to see lots more from this gifted actress, and I hope for many many more seasons of Mumu. Perhaps Season 3 will be Jia Fei’s character in Season 2 (of course a fictionalized version of the “real” Jia Fei from Season 1), writing a re-write of a re-write, and this wonderful show becomes one of those infinite mirror shots. If it means infinite chances to enjoy Simona Huang as MuMu, I’m all for it. Just please keep her on the screen!
Victoria says
I agree that season 1 is the original plot and season 2 is Jai Fei’s fictionalization of season 1. Season 1 felt more original and more rounded; more like a real life situation while season 2 was more fiction.
After watching season 2, I don’t know which season I like best but if I want to watch humor mixed with romance and something short, I would definitely watch season 2 again instead of season 1.
I also can’t wait for another season. I’m definitely up for it if season 3 comes out 💃🏻
Des Mar says
Both Season are amazing ! Love the characters personalities. I like to see season 3 as a happily married couple with more kids and still there is more love with the two lovers.
Great drama show .

I like both seasons 1 & 2. Both are great to watch. Its funny, romantic, & with some actions. Thumbs up for all the actors, actresses, writers, etc. Good job! Enjoyed it 😊

My husband and I watched Season 1 but he wasn’t interested in Season 2 (which I loved and even purchased the DVD from Amazon.com). We both disliked the fact that Yi Zhou tricked her with the leukemia prognosis (you can’t find another way to meet her???). Story was very romantic as he continues to woo her (multiple scenes of him “longing” for her company and love). Stepbrother Nan’s subplot was not pleasant to watch as we saw him beating a pregnant woman. This alone took points off of Season 1 for us. I preferred Season 2 because it’s more modern and upbeat. Cast was more relaxed and it gave time to the other couples (Wen Li and Feifei, Chu Yan and MungMung). The subplot of her agent’s revenge and his classmate’s revenge are believable. There was also less violence and we didn’t see Chu Yan get hit by his father. As with all Asian dramas, there are holes in the stories but you just have to go with the flow and not get too picky. At least both endings in both seasons have a decent conclusion.
Alejandra Leiva says
I am so dissapointed. I would have liked to see a continuation of their story… more like… ” Mumu had an accident she forgot, or Ling betrayed her and that is why Cho Yan hates Ling now… IDK something like that … I really dislike the idea of seeing another version under the same name as “Season 2” eww .. I am not so watching it until who knows when.. the lead male is handsome though..
