Meeting You Loving You (人海之中遇见你) is one of those dramas that I watched on a whim because it appeared on my YouTube feed. With the high viewership, it is only natural that it will get recommended. Well, all I can say is that sometimes, a high number of views does not guarantee enjoyability. If you are a fan of the leads, perhaps this is not so bad. But if you expect a lot more out of your dramas, this will be utterly forgettable. So, I definitely wouldn’t recommend you to watch this one. My Meeting You Loving You review below will have more on this Chinese romance drama.

They meet again during an event but Qing Chun still loathes Zhi Nian for what he had presumably done. On the other hand, Zhi Nian wants to get close to Qing Chun as he still loves her deeply.
Then, Qing Chun’s father collapses and remains in a coma when his company faces a crisis. Zhi Nian offers to help on the condition that Qing Chun moves in with him and becomes his assistant for 100 days on the pretext of training her to take over the management of her father’s company. She grudgingly accepts in order to keep the company afloat. She sees Zhi Nian as harsh and unreasonable while being more comfortable with Yi Nan. Would Zhi Nian be able to secure Qing Chun’s trust to turn the company around together?
Meeting You Loving You Ending (Spoilers Alert!)
Meeting You Loving You has a happy ending. There is a time lapse of 4 years after Zhi Nian and Qing Chun got married before his surgery. With the low chances of success, Qing Chun was told that Zhi Nian has died. This was also Zhi Nian’s instruction to Dr. Yan earlier. He didn’t want Qing Chun to hang on to him if he couldn’t recover completely after his surgery. Zhi Nian wanted her to get on with her life without worry. He also willed all his assets to her including Geiger Capital.
4 years later, Qing Chun is back working at the TV station and is a host of a popular program. Qing Cong is now an executive and handling Qing Chun’s businesses on her behalf. She and Dr. Yan are still a couple but she has yet to accept his proposal. Nuan is back at the station as an undercover reporter after having left the city earlier to seek her path in life. She meets Yi Nan again who is a whistleblower in a case she is investigating.
During a TV awards presentation event, a mystery guest appears and he turns out to be Zhi Nian. Qing Chun is emotional but happy when she sees Zhi Nian on stage. They reunite with a hug and a kiss before the drama ends with them cuddling back at their home.
When Did They Start Dating?
Zhi Nian and Qing Chun officially got together as a couple in Episode 18. He confessed to her then and resurrected her memory of when they first met. She accepted his request to be his girlfriend and they sealed it with a kiss. Zhi Nian also suggested that they get married through the characters in an online game that they are playing.
Is There A Breakup?
Zhi Nian tried to erase Qing Chun’s memories of him after the confession because he knew he could die within 3 months due to his deteriorating brain. But it failed and his memories of her got erased instead. Hence, he asked for a breakup in Episode 19 as he has forgotten about her. Qing Chun moved out from his place but refused to give up on their relationship.
Qing Chun tried numerous ways to get Zhi Nian to recall their past. The case against Chen Han also brought them back together. Zhi Nian had vague fragments of his time with Qing Chun and he was sure he wanted to be with her after a tense escape from Chen Han’s evil plot. Zhi Nian’s repeated use of his powers also necessitated a highly risky surgery thereafter. Qing Chun wanted to get married before then and they registered their marriage in Episode 22. They consummated their marriage in Episode 23.
During their marriage ceremony, Chen Han appeared with a gun. Zhi Nian used his superpower again to injure Chen Han and had to undergo immediate surgery. He didn’t recover immediately and Dr. Yan then lied to Qing Chun that Zhi Nian had died in Episode 24. Zhi Nian recovered 4 years later to reunite with Qing Chun.
Is There A Love Triangle?
Yes, because Yi Nan was also in love with Qing Chun and refused to let go of her. Qing Chun also had feelings for Yi Nan initially. She had been interested in him since her high school days and even thought some of the gifts were from him when they were actually prepared by Zhi Nian.
However, Qing Chun’s feelings for Yi Nan gradually dissipated the more time she spent with Zhi Nian. When she found out that Zhi Nian didn’t take advantage of her 4 years earlier as she had assumed in Episode 14, her feelings towards him also deepened. Qing Chun also learned that Tang Nuan and Yi Nan were dating when she overheard their conversation in Episode 14.
Why Qing Chun Hated Zhi Nian
Qing Chun hated Zhi Nian because she thought he took advantage of her when she was drunk 4 years earlier. It was also the day that she wanted to confess her feelings to Yi Nan. But it was actually Yi Nan who spiked her drink. He thought he could take advantage of her and then claim responsibility to be with her. However, his action was secretly photographed by Tang Nuan and the sound of a slamming door stopped Yi Nan in his tracks.
At the same time, Zhi Nian was drunk and ended up crawling into Qing Chun’s bed. Hence, when she woke up the next morning, she thought it was Zhi Nian who had undressed her. So, she hated him from then on.
Yi Nan did it because he was jealous and afraid that Zhi Nian will take away Qing Chun from him. Qing Chun’s father liked Zhi Nian a lot and hence, Yi Nan felt insecure. Tang Nuan was the one who sent the photo to Yi Nan to remind him to stay away from Qing Chun because she wanted him for herself. All these is revealed in Episode 14.
Qing Chun found out from Tang Nuan that it was Yi Nan who spiked her drink in Episode 20. Tang Nuan revealed it out of jealousy and spite because she thought Qing Chun was still after Yi Nan. Yi Nan apologized to Qing Chun in Episode 22 for what he had done and promised to cooperate with the police. She replied that she couldn’t hate him but neither could she forgive him for all his doings.
Chen Han’s Background
Chen Han’s father was Song Meng Hua’s brother. But Chen Han was an illegitimate child who had been kept hidden. Just before he was brought to meet Song Meng Hua, his father died all of a sudden. Hence, Chen Han and his mother were never recognized and his father’s share in Huateng Land ended up in Song Meng Hua’s hands. Chen Han hated Song Meng Hua as a result for the tough life he and his mother had to endure and wanted revenge.
Zhi Nian found out about Chen Han’s identity in Episode 20. Chen Han himself revealed his past to Tang Nuan in preparation for an interview in Episode 21. In fact, the mess in Huateng Land was caused by him through a subsidiary that the company acquired. Yi Nan could see that the contract was shady but kept quiet because he thought he could be the savior and hence, wins QIng Chun’s affections.
The Side Couples
Qing Cong admitted to Dr. Yan that she liked him in Episode 16 but he was hesitant about his feelings then. Dr. Yan then confessed to Qing Cong in Episode 19 ad they became a couple in Episode 20.
Tang Nuan confessed to Yi Nan in Episode 6. They began dating but Yi Nan kept wanting to keep their relationship a secret because he still had feelings for Qing Chun. Yi Nan proposed to Tang Nuan in Episode 19 and convinced her that they could leave the city and avoid Qing Chun if she wanted. But Tang Nuan had enough and broke up with him in Episode 20 because he still ran off to meet Qing Chun when she called while they were at their bridal fitting. Tang Nuan decided to resign and left the city in Episode 23. She ignored Yi Nan who turned up at the airport to send her off. She met him again 4 years later while covering a case as an undercover reporter.
Meeting You Loving You Review – Enemy Turned Lover Story
Meeting You Loving You starts off with the girl hating the guy because he supposedly took advantage of her when she was drunk 4 years earlier. Hence, she is still pining for the second male lead up until the halfway mark in the drama. So, don’t expect a lot of lovey-dovey scenes for this couple until pretty late in the story despite all the kisses that are shown in the clips to entice you to give this a go.
The beginning will see the typical bickering happening since she doesn’t like him one bit while he is all business-like. I don’t find this to be a particularly sweet drama as I can’t detect any undercurrent in their relationship while at the bickering stage unlike Love At Night whereby the chemistry is obvious. The middle part is a little better as their relationship is less antagonistic by then which sets the stage for the fluff in the last part when they actually get together. But the journey to get there is not exactly engaging to me and last quarter gets kind of annoying with how the story is written.
A Contractual Relationship Plot (Spoilers Alert!)
A contractual relationship romance sounds rather cliche but it can be entertaining with the right couple. Well, it did work with the audience in Once We Get Married as well as Well Intended Love. Meeting You Loving You also has a contractual relationship element to it but somehow, it just fails to lit the required sparks when they are forced to stay together. A word of warning is that the guy maneuvers the girl into the contract. Yes, he wants to help her but you also get the feeling that he does it because he wants her by his side.
The contract is lop-sided because the girl is not in a position to bargain. He is supposedly training her up to manage her company this way but the whole process is hardly romantic to me for a romance drama. Once the romantic factors start to kick in, it is already more than halfway through the story. And just when it starts to get sweet and fluffy, the tone switches again to the “protecting the girl from hurt” trope that leads to a breakup. The story just gets messier from there with the guy losing his memory of her but still sacrifices his life to save her. Apparently, he still has fragments of his memory of her and develops feelings for her again after turning cold.
In short, the couple has a crooked path to a happy ending. It is fine if the story is suspenseful and thrilling like Lie To Love. But it is not and this is where the plot execution is lacking. Instead, the story just gets a little annoying with the quick change from sweet to cold and back again within the last few episodes just because the guy wanted the girl to forget him.
Chemistry
There is no explosive chemistry between Aaron Deng and Zhang Xi Ye in Meeting You Loving You to me despite a number of kisses. It doesn’t have that bewitching factor to make you crave for more unlike the couple in You Are My Glory or Love Is Sweet. I guess it is passable for a low budget production but more electricity between them could probably improve its watchability despite the poor plot execution and a very average script. Perhaps the casting is not perfectly done because the couple doesn’t have that visual appeal when put together.
This is made worse with one of the side couples who obviously doesn’t appear as matching at all. Zhou Rui is too short to be paired with Zhao Yao Ke that I doubt that viewers would care much about them as a couple. Then, Liang Zhen Lun simply looks too young as a senior neurosurgeon. But I guess the same goes for the male lead as it is unrealistic that someone so young and an orphan can be the owner of a multi-million dollar capital firm. Simply put, it is just not convincing. Hence, I think you really need to see this as an idol drama and nothing more to get enjoyment out of it.
There is also no nice surprise offered by the acting. Everyone did their part but no one really stands out either. At times, some of them even seem a little bland in their roles including Aaron Deng who appears too stiff in his expressions in some scenes.
Uninteresting Side Couples
I’m not too sure if viewers would care about the 2 side couples in the drama. Dr. Yan and Qing Cong could still be cute enough for us to follow their story but even then, theirs is not a particularly romantic relationship. Personally, I skipped a lot of their scenes.
Tang Nuan’s relationship with Yi Nan is on the toxic side and if not for their connection to the female lead, I think no one would care about their development. Basically, Dr. Yan and Qing Cong is the more lighthearted pair and they provide the distraction needed from the main couple and the toxicity of Tang Nuan and Yi Nan. But neither of the side couples are memorable pairings that would leave an impression on the viewers to help to push up the drama’s ratings.
My Verdict – Give It A Miss
I think it would be hard to give a convincing reason to watch this drama. It may seem refreshing with the male lead’s superpower but how he acquired it is just bizarre with no effective plot development in that area. If the screenwriter had taken out the superpower angle, perhaps the story would seem more realistic and easier to get into. As it is, the way the male lead touches his nose to exercise his superpower just seems rather silly to me.
I think whether you will end up enjoying this would depend very much on how you define romantic. If you see being harsh to someone in order to help her as a loving gesture, then this would start off on a good footing. More so if you think getting the girl to live with the man and be his assistant in return for capital injection into her failing family business is romantic. I know many contract marriage dramas are also structured this way whereby both parties are getting something out of the arrangement. The only problem with this drama is that the characters are not enticingly written and the couple doesn’t have enough sparks, flirting, and romantic vibes to pull it off successfully that it becomes boring at times.
For this Meeting You Loving You review, I would give it a score of 6/10. It is not up my alley with the silly superpower thingy. But it is mainly because of the poor execution and annoyances late in the story that I recommend to give this a miss. You might like it if you are willing to just let your brain take a rest and not expecting much out of a typical Chinese romance drama. Otherwise, go and look for something else to watch instead!
