Dream Of Golden Years (你好1983) starring Zhou Ye is adapted from a novel by Bao Zhuang Cheng entitled Chong Sheng Ba Ling: Xi Fu You Dian La (重生八零：媳妇有点辣). It tells the story of Xia Xiao Lan who is an executive in the modern world accidentally traveling back in time to the 1980’s as a rural girl. Given the difference in time period, she is unconventional in that setting but finds the courage to succeed in business.
While time travel dramas are nothing new, they are mostly about protagonists in the modern world traveling back to ancient times. Dream Of Golden Years is a little different as it picks the 1980’s as the setting. It is not too long ago that most of us can relate to which probably will enhance the interest in the drama. It may even be nostalgic for some. The female character is an ambitious and determined woman and the drama details her struggles to succeed in life.
Zhou Ye Is The Lead
Zhou Ye plays Xia Xiao Lan. In the last 2 years, she is probably best known for her lead role in Back To The Brink. Her most recent drama that has been released and completed is Everyone Loves Me which she starred opposite Lin Yi. Dream Of Golden Years is a change from the usual idol dramas and it is a good challenge for any actor to tackle a different genre.
Other cast members include Zhai Xiao Wen, Zhao Da, and Lawrence Wong. Veteran actress Dong Xuan also has a strong supporting role in the drama. Her list of works is a long one. She also appeared in the recently concluded The White Olive Tree.
Dream Of Golden Years started filming in November 2024 and filming officially wrapped up on 12 March 2025. Stills and wrap-up photos were also released on the same day.
